A thrifty person, so might kinda still like diesel (doing about 15,000 miles /yr)
Probably an automatic or automated manual.... Read more
Indeed. Of all the cars I have driven, the most comfortable driving position was a Forester (mk 1 and mk 2) which had armchair comfort with a very natural position for the arms and legs to operate the controls. There are still new cars out there with poor seating positions, little lumbar support and not enough adjustment.
My Citroen C Crosser 2.2 HDI has developed a slight hesitance when pulling up hill. Seems to start and run ok the rest of the time. Has recently had a full Citroen service. Any advice welcome.

Did they change the fuel filter?
There is an interesting article here regarding car makers lack of interest in fixing electronic security on their vehicles.
Its up to the manufacturers of the transmission units installed in vehicle to sort out software bugs, but as said before there will never be a perfectly secure transmission system
Like mobile phone security there are people that try to find the leaks in the software so they can be secured, but there will always be someone out there that finds a hole thats been missed ...
As the price of panels has come down I am seeing more systems where people have put panels on two sides of a roof, SE and SW for example, the argument being to catch the morning and afternoon sun. If you do the calculations, overall, you still get more power by facing them true South, but that is academic to this question. And i want to invite you to join this disuccess,i hope it will help us to know more about the solar panel products.Do you want in??

Any gains you would make fitting solar panels to your car roof would proabably be more than accounted for by the increased drag. That and the fact they would look totally daft.
Hi. I purchased a citreon c4 05 plate from a dealer, 250 miles from my home. The clutch felt high on test drive but the dealer assured me it was fine and was a citreon thing. Since getting it home it definately is a problem as not only is it very high I have smelt it burning on a couple of occasions. The car is under 28 day warranty, the car wouldn't make it back to the dealer so would it be acceptable to request to have the work done by a machanic where I live and the dealer pay for the work?. I have to agree with skidpan here : why on earth would you drive 250 miles to buy a 10 year old, run-of-the-mill car. It just makes no sense at all, unless you're in the remote west highlands/islands of Scotland.
That's a 500 mile round trip. And all the fuel/fares involved in getting there and back, which you could have put into buying a (slightly) better car closer to home....
A relative of mine very recently left a deposit on a new car via the phone and has since changed their mind. Am I right in thinking that the deposit has to be returned under the distance selling regulations? Some very quick research seems to indicate that they have seven days to inform the dealer of their inttention to withdraw? Is this correct or are there other variables? They made a single telephone call to the dealership and have never made a visit in person. Read more
I recently did some research into consumer law. The distance selling regulations have been replaced in law by the new Customer Contract Rights. These do give the seller some protection against returns on frivolous grounds. However you can still just change your mind within the 14 day period. The seller should have sent their T&C's regarding the contract outlining the legal position for returns/cancellations. But even then your rights should trump theirs if you have quickly cancelled. If they did not send any via post or e mail then they don't have a leg to stand on.
On the basis that they have suffered no loss or damage due to the change of mind then your deposit should be returned in full. If they state they have suffered loss or damage then ask for written proof of this on official documentation. i.e order forms, letters from their suppliers etc. I find it hard to believe that an order for a vehicle cannot be cancelled within a few days and would not expect any claims for loss on that basis....
Hello all, I was wondering if I could request some advice on my first car? I am 27 and have just got my licence. Due to personal reasons including nostalgia growing up and the cars my late father used to drive, I am more interested in cars from the 80s/early 90s. Particular models I would love to own include: Volvo 340, Volvo 240, Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 2, Volvo 440, Vauxhall Astra Mk 2 and the Rover 400 (pre 1995). The only car I have driven so far is a Chevrolet Aveo. Would I have a hard time with any of these cars? I assume they are probably quite a different ride from the Aveo. How reliable are they? Which of these would you suggest, or would you suggest a different car? I am willing to spend £2000 max on the car, and expect to pay between £1800 and £2500 on insurance to start with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I will bow to your greater wisdom. Apologies for the lack of paragraphs my enter key is broken. Read more
How will your new car be maintained ?
If you will be doing at least some of the maintenance then buying a sub-£2000 car is possible. If not then either look at the sub-£1000 market for a short-term car, or buy much more recent, and think in terms of how much you can afford per month. Include VED (car tax), tyres, servicing and breakdown cover as well as insurance. Some recent cars, such as Kia and Hyundai may have some manufacturer warranty left, which may give you a lower monthly cost than a 'banger'....

The good old Cod Reno Megan, never see them these days.
My wife's 2014 Citroen C1 Feel is a nightmare to put petrol in. The nozzle just keeps clicking off, and you have to dribble the petrol in very slowly to get any in at all. It took 10 minutes to put half a tank in yesterday, so she got fed up and left it at that.
Any ideas gratefully accepted?? Read more
As the car is so new, the damage may well be implicated.
I have an old MX5 that takes 10 minutes to dribble the fuel into. I have been told the problem is a blocked tank breather tube, but as it is buried somewhere failry inaccessible I have not investigated yet...I tend to choose quiet filling stations as people waiting can get quite impatient!
I watched this new video of what appears to be the same non starter of a product. If you can call a spirit level bubble and some form of pivoting weighted mechanism a 'new product'.
I think your video highlights the true answer. If you can't react to an indicator flashing for 9 seconds before you start to slow down, you don't need this device - you need a trip to specsavers (other opticians are available) for an eye test and probably some glasses....
