Many years ago I had a poster put on my Passat diesel estate asking if I wanted go do the same. This was at a local hotel, I rang up and it seemed genuine. I went, got £60 cash, decent sandwiches and tea and all we had to do was comment on suggested ads for Fords new "sporty" diesel engines, badged tdci. Everyone there (20 or more) had a VW diesel.
Hi all.
After faultless months pf praising and lovin our mazda6 TS turbo diesel 2.0 143 bhp, 2006, 123550 miles, its thrown us the Engine management light.
Engine runs fine, pulls well at low and high revs (4000rpm). No leaks under the bonnet of air or fluid. Correct type Oil level fine and only 7000 miles old.
The wife says the DPF light was flashing for her earlier as well as EM light, but i cant get it to replicate that for me. Side note, the DPF has been removed so i know its not that thats blocked.
So my thoughts are: -
- How do i find out the engine code without going into mazda and bending over at the counter?
- Does anyone have a list of engine codes?
- Could the CAT be blocked or causing the issue?
- Could the EGR be blocked or clogged.
Engine has always run fine and not nasty knocks or bangs at cold or hot.
Cheers in advance. Read more
Unfortunately you will need more than a guess-o-meter to find out what is going on.Any good local indy garage should be able to advise on the problem with suitable diagnostic kit.No need for main dealer.

See HJ's reviews - as you say, not as many faults as in the past, but I remember at the time it came out the reviews from a driving perspective were not very positive. One of the things that would unfortunately stop me buying one would be the poor driving position/comfort, which for someone with a bad back is definitely a turn-off.
Lovely looks though - a rep at a previous employer had one (I thin the diesel version), which I was greatly impressed with at the time - more exciting than your average rep-mobile Ford or Vauxhall.
After reading around these and other forums to try and see if anyone else has encountered this problem and had no joy, I guessed it best to ask.
Having bought an old 1993 1.8 Golf III recently with an intermittent fault and 58000 miles on the clock, I have found that it runs from cold for a while and then splutters because the inlet manifold preheater relay (no 1, part no.171 906 383 ) is clicking and it seems to be losing its spark.... I presume this will be a Bosch mono jetronic single point injection system. Both the manifold pre heater and tank vent valve/relays are controlled by the engine control unit.It could be a fault with the ignition system causing the ecu to shut down. There is an ignition coil/amplifier bolted the the bulkhead.I would check for spark when the engine cuts out. Also an idea to check connections to the rear of the fuse box and also the the multi point earth connections bolted to the front of the engine block.
Hi, My first post! Assuming one sees merit in having DRL (Daytime Running Lights) retro fitted to your car, I would like to discuss the wiring for it. There are DRL controllers in market which have three extra wires - one each for side indicator and one for headlights. The ided being that the DRLs blink with appropriate side indicator (L/R) and turn dim/off when Headlights are on.
I have bought a quality CREE DRL with DRL controller that has ONLY one extra white wire, which I am being adviced by the reputed seller, that if this SINGLE wire is connected to one of the side indicators, appropriate DRLs will start blinking while indicating.... Read more
Many thanks for your reply. I have decide to go for this simple wiring diagram. Hope this will make sense.

Hi all. I have just bought a fab BMW, but i have the problem mentioned above. These should charge in the ignition whilst driving, and are supposed to be 'sealed for life'

emote locking now sorted. It wasn't the amp, it was a broken wire in the black rubber loom by the bootlid hinge! soldered back together, now all is fine!
