I recently bought a used Mazda 6 2006 diesel car. After a couple of days, I noticed it was producing lots of white smoke especially after the engine is warm. This usually occurs when I stop at traffic lights etc. I noticed that the smoke stops for about 5 days when I drive it on the motorway for about 10 miles. Then it will start smoking again.

You would be better taking it to a diesel specialist rather than the dealer, they usually know what they are doing.

It isn't obvious from the Facebook link what the original problem was. If you want help or advice I suggest you summarise the issue succinctly in a post, rather than expecting us to find it for ourselves.
Happy to be financially comfortable, although not wealthy enough for cost not to matter. Money can disappear quite quickly !

Every car has its critics and supporters. From their differing experiences both views may be right.
The great majority of buyers whose cars don't provide serious problems become 'supporters'. The unlucky 'critics' in the opposite camp often complain about intransigent dealers or penny-pinching manufacturers, and sometimes vent their spleens on entire nations of makers (e.g. French or German). :-)...
Hi all, I have a dead mirror switch so have obtained a good one from a late model ST.
The question is, how do I remove the lower "arm rest" panel to get access to the three screws that hold it in place ? Does it just clip in and hence, requires removing with either a flat bladed screwdriver of plactic scraper etc ?... Read more
Had a look this afternoon and the lower arm rest "half" does indeed simply clip off (and back on again very cleanly).
I used a plastic broad scraper and it popped right off....
the ignition lights come on but, apart from 1 click, the engine doesnt start. up to now it started perfectly 1st time. at first when it was doing this it did connect after turning it on and off a few times (suggesting a loose connection?) but now it isnt connecting at all. the headlights are working fine...the battery is not flat. can anyone put forward any suggestions please? Just like the new Jaguar XE it will steal sales from the BMW 3 series. The 3 series looks so dull and boring in comparison with either the XE or Guilia. Read more

After a central locking fault that has ended with the latch becoming seized on the passenger door, I have removed the door card and can access the plastic cover to the latch, I have managed to remove the cover to reveal a plastic white box with a lid, can also manipulate the levers on the latch with my hand but they do not do anything. What is the easiest way to remove the door, should I just unbolt the door hinges or drop the pins since the latch seems like a lost cause without destroying it completley? Read more
Removing the door is not going to acheive very much. You will need to smash open the plastic casing of the locking actutor and operate the door release lever with a screwdriver.
I notice that many people buy a new car, assuming that any problems will be sorted out, but then find that main dealers often just deny that the car is faulty. Would it be better to buy a used car, simply because it can be thoroughly tested before purchase? I have seen reports of people who have received a new car with build problems and ended up having to pay for independent engineers reports and take legal action because the dealer has stonewalled over problems. We change our cars every 5 years normally and in the past 20 years have bought either new or pre reg. Its served us well since we have not had any big bills and although we suffer depreciation I honestly believe that changing every 5 years tends to minimise this as much as possible.
About 20 years ago the wife had a new Golf GL TDCi. 90 PS, sunroof, electric windows, one airbag but NO ABS, cruise, AC, alloys etc, by todays standards woefully equipped. It was a pretty new model at the time and discounts were not available anywhere (believe me i tried) so we ended up paying about £14500 for the car. It served us very well, nothing other than the usual costs but it did need a new rear exhaust box. About 57 mpg on a run and 45 mpg overall, cannot remeber exactly but I think the VED was over £100 even when it was new. Peformance was good eneough but the smoke that it emitted when you floored it used to frighten other road users....

Yeahhhhhhh excellent thank you so so much :-))))
