I had something much the same a while back, being asked to "prove" my eligibilty when buying our new house. The Estate agents wanted all sorts of details, but backed down when we refused. (they claim it is to prove affordability) some even try to say that unless you have an appointment with their financial advisor they cannot forward your offer.
What makes you think that this paid for "market research" in anything other than trawling for information and pushing those who take part to "do a deal on the spot"
Think, You will be giving them lots of personal information, perhaps including job, income (approx) if you have a mortgage, credit cards how much disposable income, phone numbers, email adress home address.
When I am asked for this sort of "survey information, and say Have I asked to be contacted by you? Please do not contact me again and delete my details from your lists.
I have been asked at various times to contribute to motoring marketing research, and ALL they are interested in is getting your information to further contact and market to you.
Hello oldroverboy,
I understand your concern about giving over this information. We (Serrula Research) are members of the MRS (Market Research Society) and abide by their code of conduct. We are working on behalf of a car manufacturer and only basic personal information is asked. We will not ask for info about mortgage, credit cards or disposable income.
When it comes to this project we are simply recruiting car owners to come to a venue in Wimbledon for 2 hours to look at some cars and give their opinions on them. There is no sales initiative and the opinions that you give will be kept confidential.
Due to the amount of interest in this project and the limited slots we have, we are now only looking for 3 types of car owners to attend. These cars are the Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto and Citroen C1.
If you have one of these cars feel free to call us or email. Details on the first post.
