Hi,

I've got a 2004 Polo Tdi (Twist) that needs upgrading... It's done 75k and in decent nick, but has a slight issue with the front left tyre wearing much more quickly than the right. I think it may have had a bump before I bought it, and hence the early wear etc.... Read more

It is, as others have said, almost certainly a cheap and easy fix if it's just the tracking that's out.

However, do you know for sure it has never had any front end impact damage ? Sometimes cars which have been accident repaired are never quite straight. If it's that, then moving it on would be a good idea.

It'll not cost much to get the tracking sorted though, and if that cures it you'd almost certainly be best to keep it. Every time you buy from or sell to a dealer there's their margin to consider. They have to have one to stay in business but unfortunately at the budget end of the market, it by default represents a fair percentage of the price.

Hi can someone help me with a radio code? The RAC changed battery and lost the radio. Did not have the code in any of the paperwork when I bought the car and the garage couldn't help either as they did not have a record of it. The code on the radio is v000784.

Question AUDI A3 - MOT
FoxyJukebox

Might i pass on a piece of advice and personal experience please.

My 8 year old Audi has just passed it's MOT with no advisories. In discussion with the garage I asked if the test was based on the condition of the car NOW or whether the testers projected ahead on the roadworthyness of the vehicle for the next twelve months. The answer is the former-how ridiculous.... Read more

Your car met the minimum standards required by VOSA, that's why it passed the MOT test. This does not mean that the vehicle will continue to be in a roadworthy condition for the next twelve months, as is stated on the V20 Test Certificate.

For your information a corroded brake disc will not be rejected unless it is so deteriorated that it would be unsafe to carry out the brake test, which would be likely to cause damage to the vehicle or rolling road equipment. Brake pads must have less than 1.5mm of friction material on them to be rejected.

Hi...
Can anyone help please.
I've got a 2006 vauxhall signum 3.0ltr deisel.
The exhuast emmission light has came up on the dash.
I've used EGR valve cleaner plus deisel injector cleaner in the tank. Ive taken the EGR valve apart and cleaned it up.
Still light stays on and engine in safe mode.

Has anyone any ideas please would be much appreciated.

Wild guessing won't get you very far. You need to use suitable diagnostic equipment firstly to see what fault code/s have been stored, and then do some live data checking. Your problem could be anything.

We've been invited to a friends flat in Docklands to see the Marathon on 26th April and I've been looking at travel options from Ipswich. The train is fairly expensive and it would be cheaper to drive in and park as near as possible and use public transport for the last leg. Many years ago we used to park at Gants Hill but when I go on Streetview the area all looks a bit different and unfamiliar and I'm wondering if anyone in East Anglia can suggest the best drive ->park -> public transport options? I'll leave this up, for the sake of FP's comments (although I've disabled the hillock-rhymer's account). I googled as suggested and there is some interesting stuff.

An obvious way to restrict the spammers is to make it harder to register with the forum, but I'd rather we didn't go that route as that might deter people who have a real problem and won't be in the mood for extra security procedures, whatever that might mean....

I purchased a new Toyota Auris on Wednesday of this week from the Toyota garage in Worcester. The day after getting home with the car and the mountain of paperwork that accompanied it I in the process of going through with the intent of filing it away I noticed two lots of stapled together paperwork which I thought was part of the 3 day get you home insurance. What it turned out to be was GAP insurance and Smart cover (chip and scratch) insurance totalling £800. At no point during the negotiations for the new vehicle was anything ever mentioned regards purchasing this insurance. The only thing that was mentioned was what myself and my wifeI thought was a similar thing to a Scotch guard cover which is a protective treatment on fabrics, wood and metal.

This underhand selling smacks of PPI tactics in what appears nowadays to be an epidemic of trying to extract that extra pound more from unwary customers.

Where is this company registered but Gibraltar.

Great advice everyone, it's much appreciated.

As I'm not in London I've decided to steer clear of Gumtree, and have opted to sell on eBay as I already have a good reputation there as a seller / buyer....

I've had this car from new. It has 162,000 miles on the clock. I've been told that it's worth between £700 and £900. The insurance is due for renewal this month and I have always insured fully comp. I've read, given the low value of the car, that this is a waste of money and I should opt for third party only. Can anyone advise? Read more

Consider Comprehensive Cover but with high voluntary excesses as by the sounds of it you won't be looking to claim for own damage or theft (Although not all Insurers apply voluntary excesses to theft claims).

The benefit of the above is it's generally cheaper than Third Party Only but you still get windscreen cover...
