Hi, my focus is a 1.8 ghia (1999) hatchback. The digital clock has not worked for awhile now, the numbers do not form properly. What is causing it and how can I fix it myself without having to go to the garage. I miss not knowing the time whilst on the way to work, cheers. Read more
Possibly a fault with the clock itself. You will need to remove the radio and the centre console panel with the heater controls for access.
Hi I have just recently bought a Renault Grand Scenic which did not come with a radio code. I have now got this but it will only switch on when the lights are either switched on or come on automatically. Can anyone give me some idea of why it's doing this and what I can do to remedy the problem.

From previous experience of this and showing a warden that my ticket was within 5 minutes of the time on the machine allowing for the 2 minutes arguing about it before walking to the machine to check machine time (ticket not issued after that) (but i stayed polite) I have noticed sometimes that "wardens" still hover to catch people out. Not me anymore so out of town it is, (have you tried to get on a bus with a 10 litre tin of paint. not allowed, so use the car to go where there is free parking. Read more
Its more likely that councils etc will just make the parking period ten minutes shorter, protect their revenue, job done and keep schtum.....

If you are buying new or nearly new then beware of the small engined turbo models. It is alleged by some people that some cars with these engines do not reach the claimed levels of economy.
I have a 1.4 TSi 140 PS Leon. My average consumption for 21 months has been a genuine calculated 45 mpg. In exactly the same useage a BMW 118D diesel with 143 PS averaged 48 mpg....

I assume you have checked teh radiator is not blcoked or silted up by felling teh lower part when engine is hot. (It should be hot as well - if not then it's silted up).

Thinking of adding water temp (the existing is not direct reading), oil pressure, oil temp and boost pressure, on "A" pillar housing(s). Yes, it's a strange choice of car, let's say it's a practise run....
Where best to insert the senders/sensors, either specific to this engine should anyone reading this be familiar with it, and are there any senders already extant which could be exploited/piggy-backed (I assume the ECU receives some of those values anyway).

just wondering people's opinions on buying cars that are ex fleet/company? Read more
I think it’s a lottery. My neighbour has one, it’s Ford C-Max. The car needs new clutch every year due to her style of driving. It had never been washed/cleaned internally/externally during her ownership. Minor scuff all over the places. She doesn’t care. Absolutely ‘Zero’ sympathy. However, the car’s been serviced annually.

Thanks. Got It!
