Hello All,

Yesterday my wife and I took her V70 for its MoT. The ownner of the station told my wife where to put the car and to leave the keys in the ignition. He gave these instructions from the open passenger window the car and told her to back in an hour. On our return he said the ignition barrel had collapsed and the key would only turn to the first position. We drove home, in my car, to get the spare key but that would not work either. We compared the keys and my wifes key was loose on its pivot and when we showed this to the station owner his whole attitude changed and he said his worker had just put his arm through the open window and found the ignition barrel broken. The window was not open when we left the car and we found the seat all the way back. The bloke who was supposed to do the Mot is big and we suspect he caught his knee on the key when he got in the car causing the damage. The owner accused us "having an attitude" and told us to f***k off and to get the car out of his yard. He also demanded the test fee for his missed slot. I did not pay but the damage is going to cost us £500 with an MoT. I know its our word against his but there was no notchiness or ever any bother with the ignition key/barrel before we took it for its MoT Do you think there are any legal aveues we explore? Read more

So his worker tried to start the car without get in it? There is logical reason anyone would do this!...

Hi
I experienced some turbo wastegate problems with my Corsa cdti. The wastegate would intermittently stick "open". This results in low or no boost. From under the bonnet you can move the turbo wastegate arm by hand. It should move smoothly with reasonable resistance. I sprayed some wd40/lube spray over the turbo actuator arm. If it makes a difference you know your in the right area!

Hi All, I am looking of sourcing a car from either BCA or Manhiem. I used to use Joe Dowd ages ago, but since he's retired, haven't managed to get someone decent - (i.e. who doesn’t try to rip me off or charge me a fortune).
Does anyone know of a decent buyer especially someone who can cover the Midlands and the North West and Yorkshire areas? (reason being that most of the good cars I have got have come from BCA Belle Vue, BCA Brighouse or BCA Nottingham).... Read more
My son bought 2008 Ford Focus. AM/FM button on radio (siver 6000 CD) was sticking causing radio to malfunction. Garage who sold car replaced button with a temporary one while new one was ordered. This took several weeks. Car is now in London and garage is in Newcastle. I have posted button to my son to change button. Garage advised levering button off with small screwdriver. My son has had a quick go but button is still fixed. He doesn't want to damage the radio facia. Any advice on how to pop button out so it can be replaced.
Thanks in advance. Jeff Read more

just bought an old 1999 s40 petrol ,114000 miles . Starts on turn of key and runs fine up until 50mph ,then getting a metalic rattle from front end, drop below 50 mph and it stops ,any ideas please. Read more
If memory serves, the 1.8 petrol is the Mitsubishi GDI engine, they can pink / detonate quite a bit when accelerating as they're a very lean-burn design. This makes a pronounced, rapid metallic tapping / rattling sound.
When the rattling starts, push the clutch in and take your foot off the throttle to let the car coast for a second or two. If the rattling stops, it's probably pinking. If the rattling continues, it's a wheel bearing / suspension component issue....

You say you've changed the battery, OP. Can we assume you've put in the correct Radio Code afterwards? Does the CD work OK?
Check that the aerial plug hasn't fallen out from the rear of the radio unit, they aren't very positive....
