Having an odd problem with my '09 Golf 1.4 TSI (122) recently - occasionally when I pull away from traffic lights (I think mainly when the engine is cold), the dashboard lighting and the radio will die for about a second then come back on. Looks like something's making the voltage drop momentarily (shorting out somewhere?), but not sure what. Headlights don't seem to be affected and no fault codes logged that I could find. Anybody seen anything like this before? Read more

Car is just over a year old from new. I've noticed a warning sound recently which seems to indicate a frost (star) setting at 4 degrees C. Thought nothing of it as can't smell much at my age! Wife says there is an acrid smell in the cabin. What's the description please to the VW garage to get it fixed? Read more

Thanks for the suggestion but it went through one Winter with no smells but now since Xmas does make this smell but only during a long run. Went for a 5 mile drive yesterday and no smell but no 4 degree C * with a warning sound came up.

Does he want a new or nearly new car?

Can he reasonably afford to buy it?

Is he of sound mind?

If the answer to all the Above is yes then let him have what he wants, how much longer will he be able to make that choice?

I can hear a sound like a washing machine spinning when i drive at motorway speeds - or over 50mph. the higher the speed, the faster the spinning sound. It's not loud at all but noticeable all the same. It seems to be coming from the rear. Passed MOT in January, had CV Boot replaced on both sides and cambelt is due to be replaced soon. apart from that no problems. Any idea on what it could be? Read more

I am trying to order the rear pads for the above car, but I am not sure if the rear has wear indicator/warning feature. I know the front has when it was repalced last time.

I had looked at Eurocarparks and they sell both with and without, but not sure which one to buy. Please advise.... Read more

You will need to look behind the rear wheels to see if there are pad wear indicator wires. It will only have it on one wheel.Be careful and don't get confused with the abs sensor wires.
