March 2015
I have just bought a 2012 IX20 1.4 eco. Its been back to the dealers for pulling to the left at motorway speeds ,& on normal roads the steering seems very sensitive to road surfaces.
The dealers said that they had retracked the wheels, but that did not completely cure the problem,so I had it rechecked on a computer tracking system & they found the front nearside wheel out of alignment.... Read more

Does it have a headlamp height adjuster? If so, check that this hasn't got stuck in the 'low' position.

Try cleaning the idle control valve, bolted to the throttle body - it's usually a solenoid controlled gadget on a Suzi-clicks madly when it's working properly.
Firstly, can I apologise - I know there are existing posts on problems with VW stereos receiving medium wave I just can't work out how to comment on a previous post. Perhaps the thread is closed.
Anyway, I've reached the conclusion that I'm going to keep my 2002 VW Passat for a while yet so thought I'd finally try and get this problem sorted once and for all. The problem is that I can't pick up any medium station in the car. I want this to listen to sport on BBC 5 Live and TalkSport.... Read more
This can probably be done without removing the side windscreen trim.Pull the door rubber away from the body and lift the pillar trim a little and run the antenna cable in the gap up to the screen. You can't set the airbag off,but you do need to be careful of any cabling that runs up the pillar.
Volvo are trying out an ice warning system that will warn other Volvo cars in the vicinity. What we need is a system that will sound a warning beforehand, not when we're already skating.

Yer I've been made aware of this, my way to combat would be to dresss up the van to look like a campervan. A few designs down the side and a couple of windows I'm hoping should do the biz. Also if im lucky enough I might be able to find a non-white van!
And most travellers seem to be driving expensive vans and top end caravans, so that's us way out!...
A friend who has never owned an automatic asked me to look at a ‘56’ 2-litre C-Max for sale at a small local dealer last week. As he has never even driven an auto I took it on the test drive. It felt capable but nothing special and my friend said he would think about it. It has done about 59k but has rather a limited service history – allegedly done privately because of cost. I thought he had forgotten about it but he has just rung me as he wants another look and to drive it himself tomorrow. Are they a good buy and is this one worth consideringat £2,999? And is there anything in particular to check?
I would walk away from it, not because it isn't Japanese but because it hasn't got a full service history. One advantage of buying a Ford is that there are lots of them around.
If he doesn't really want an automatic, there are probably more manuals around than automatics to choose from if he looks on a site like Autotrader.

The most common and likely cause of steering pull is bad tyres. Contrary to what you may think tyres are never truly round or even, and certainly not perfectly balanced. Try changing your front wheels side for side and see if it pulls the other way. Then change the rear wheels side for side and see if it's diiferent. If the characteristics of the steering pull have changed then you know a tyre is causing the problem. You will need to be mindful though that some tyres are directional. Those that are will have an arrow on the side wall pointing in the correct direction of rotation. Some tyres also are marked 'Outside' and 'Inside' on the side walls, and must be fitted the correct way round. Check this too.
