Could a broken up particle filter enter and damage engine.

Unlikely.The dpf is in the exhaust system ,if it breaks up ,parts will get forced through the exhaust system to the rear of the car.

Exactly my initial thoughts, assuming that the EGR picks up exhaust gas to recirculate well in advance of the particle filter, no chance of bits getting into the cylinders.

I paid £4000 for my car from Autozone, a car dealer in Wakefield. 17 days ago I was told the car only had one miner fault a lose strip on the boot

The car has been in their garage for 17 days undergoing repairs which were not disclosed to me at the time of purchase

I am informed the particle filter had broken up and a piece is missing some where in the car ?

Going to ask for refund today
