i have 2004 automatic transmission zafira 1.8. i had a problem that it started with varrying revs and juddered when put into gear and some times moved very lazily. may be going into limp home mode. my technician said it is the problem about spark plugs and ignition coils. i have changed them but now it has got worst. i starter but just gets switched off in the next ten seconds. i am unable to even move it because it is never staying switched on. i put back the old spark plugs and coil as well but problem persisits. if somebody can help me on this matter? I consider myself, with senior years, to have a good basic knowledge of dealing with replacing general parts on the various cars that I've owned. But I confess I'm 'stumped'. Can someone explain how you replace the rear brake bulb on a 2002 Mercedes E270 CDI. Read more
On some of these, the brake light is an led cluster and can only be replaced as a complete assembly.

Yes many times. Connect your test lamp earth clip to a good earth. Switch on the HRW and touch the probe onto the terminal at one end and then the other to establish which end is the 12v supply. Having determined which end is the supply follow very gently each element in turn with your probe. The lamp should get dimmer as you go, but when it goes out you have located the break.
Hi,
The battery in my 2004 Fiesta is in need of a change and need the keycode for the 4500 RDS EON radio. Car was 2nd hand and did not get a user handbook from seller.... Read more
We are thinking of replacing our Nissan X-Trail 2003 model with 105k miles as it is getting a bit long in the tooth and we need to go to a 7 seater. We fancy a Kia Sorento 2.2 2011/12 model KX2 standard. Can you see any problems with this plan, in particular does it have DPF issues and does it have a belt or chain? many thanks. Dave.. Read more
Have a test drive, compared to the Xtrail driving a Santa fe,( which i would think is similar?) i found the car awful to drive, couldn't get out of the car quick enough, bought a Mazda CX-5 instead, but not a 7 seater.
Santa Fe has had some quite different suspension settings over the years - and can be sensitive to tyre pressure settings - Sorento will be different again....
I have been very happy with my 5 year old i30 iwned from new, but recently the trim on the front passenger internal door handle has become razor sharp, resulting in 3 badly cut fingers for adult members of my family. Goodness knows what would happen with children's fingers.
Having Googled the problem it seems to be well known. After the last cut finger I contacted Hyundai UK who refused any type of goodwill payment, as the car is 3 months beyond its warranty period. Their suggestion was to pay the local dealer £87.42 each tio replace the handles.... Read more
The cheap and lasting answer to sharp edges on an interior handle is a file and gaffer tape. Last the lifteime of the car.

Hello again! Still on the lookout for that 7 seater... we are firmly set on a petrol now that London (where we live) is looking at various low emission initiatives. Most petrol 7 seaters are hard to find and thirsty with around 40 mpg combined, not much better than our current old petrol car. Since we hold our cars for years there's no point in risking a diesel which may later become too "dirty" plus all its low speed-associated issues.
Anyway sorry for the long introduction - Grand C-Max is on the agenda with the most economical 1 ltr petrol engine (seems there's a facelifted model coming soon but I don't know if the petrol engines are changing or not). Anyone has experience with that? I've read it is not a sporty car, but we are mostly driving in the city streets with low speeds, so as long as it moves people ok, is economical and reliable it doesn't matter so much. We are 2 adults and 3 kids, plus the (very) occasional guests/friends.... Read more
