Hello,
I get an intermittent fault about 3 times a year. This is the same fault I have put on the forum before where the car suddenly runs very slowly or stalls. A good run on the motorway always fixes the problem. I am considering putting a bottle of Wynns fuel injector cleaner for petrol engines into the fuel tank. Some of my friends say not to touch any fuel cleaners with a bargepole, that it will cause damage to my engine. Others say it will help with my problem. Vauxhall say they recommend it but I am still wary. I have seen a customer review of the Wynns treatment which says the retail version is nowhere near as strong or as effective as the one used in Wynns service centres. I have tried to find out where the nearest one of these is to me but the website isnt complete so no joy there. What do forum readers think?... Read more

MY GRAND VOYAGER WAS IN GETTING THE REAR BUMPER REPAIRED RECENTLY AND SINCE COMING OUT HAS HAD NO PARKING SENSORS, IS THERE A PLUG UNDER THERE NEEDING PUT BACK IN PLACE ? Read more
What year is your vehicle?
The 2001-2008 had bumper mounted sensors and as previously stated the repairer should have returned the vehicle with the sensors functioning....
Someone pointed out to me yesterday that my reversing lights were on, even though I was parked, with just the engine running. He said that the switch could be stuck. I'd be grateful if someone could tell me where this switch is, is it easy to get at? Obviously I'd like to fix this myself :D

This may be a red herring, but on the 2.0 diesel, the switch is a single unit screwed into the gearbox case. About 30mm A/F spanner (can't quite remember the size exactly, but of that order) and the whole unit comes out. There were no springs, clips or other surprises! Just make sure the surrounding area is free from debris which could fall into the gearbox.
Our vehicle, a Nissan Navara pick-up, was booked in for a service at Brian Leighton Garages - Howden on Wednesday 29th May at 0830hrs. The vehicle was purchased from them on 20th October 2012 and so as to maintain warranty and save time we decided to use the garage for the service. Due to business workload we were unable to get the vehicle to the garage at 0830 on the Wednesday or before the end of play on the Tuesday but a call to the garage informed us that an out of hours facility was available for dropping vehicles off. We were instructed to park the vehicle in the Customer Parking area, explain to the kiosk staff in the adjoining 24hour filling station that was owned by the garage where we would be given an envelope for our keys. The keys would then be left safely with the staff of the filling station for collection by the garage the following morning. We carried out these instructions, dropping the vehicle off at the garage at 2100hrs on the Tuesday evening.
The following then unfolded :-... Read more
(Still not interested in replacing any other parts or equipment but have now added a sign to the car park stating that cars are parked at the owners risk.
A local newspaper is wanting to publicise our ordeal, and they are photographing our vehicle outside the site tomorrow.)
Hi ,it's interesting ,and I think it strengthens your case ,that they've now erected a disclaimer that rejects liability .To me that says they now understand they were wrong and are liable .
In addition ,I'm not sure that the erection of a sign absolves them of responsibility .They agree to allow you to park on their property and take control of your keys ,that makes them liable for the security of your goods .
I don't think it's a good idea to involve the papers .If you use the threat of the papers as a wedge to encourage the garage to pay ,that's ok .However once you've involved the papers you've lost that advantage and antagonised the garage .What next ?
The SCC at £300 cost to you ,is the easiest and best option .
Hi all,
Does anyone know if it is better to run air con all year. I was told that if you do this it will work more efficiently and you will avoid a build up of bacteria and other undesirable contaminants .

>>So many people fail to use climate control in the way it was designed, by for example whacking it down to 16C on a hot day then after half an hour they feel cold and either whack it up to 23C or switch it off!
I had a very unpleasant journey with a driver who felt that heat should be directed to the face level vents at maximum heat and fan speed or turned completely off when it got too hot....

Handy for buyers in the UK I always tend to use dealers in Florida ,
I have an old car. Utterly reliable and almost uncomplicated to keep running. Clio 1.2. Petrol. D series engine, multipoint injection.
My usual petrol station strangely closed, I thought I'd risk it another few miles to the next 24hr place. The engine cut out a few hundred yds short of it. I walked the rest. Bought 5 ltres in a plastic can and went back to the car. But it won't start with the the fuel in the tank.... Read more
Have you flooded it? Crank it over with your foot may to the floor, release the pedal and try again.
Too much fuel is as bad as too little
I've recently been getting a 'honking' sound when I change down gears (usually from 3rd to 2nd). My local garage thinks it sounds like a dual mass flywheel problem and says that it will cost a minimum of £1,000 to replace/ sort. My car is a 2006 with 110,000 on the clock so I don't really want to spend that kind of money on it. As the honking is occasional and there is no other noticeable effect on the car, I am wondering whether to just carry on with it and hope I get another year until I can afford another car. If I do nothing, is it likely to deteriorate and could it cause more damage to the car by not replacing the DMF now?
Any advice welcome! Read more
I can't imagine that your 'injector' problems are related to the DMF/clutch that you had replaced.
But really - you went to Mr Clutch???
