Last year I had my van MOT'ed at a local garage and the new certificate read 'Combo' instead of 'Combo 2000 CDTI+' like on all previous certificates.
This year I asked why this was and they said that it showed as a '2000 CDTI' on the computer screen but, when the certificate is printed it shows only 'Combo'. ... Read more

I am considering buyin a new Audi Q3 , but need to know if it is based on the MQB platform as it was launched in either 2011 or early 2012.
I woiuld appreciate if someone knows the answer to my query. Read more
Quick google search seems to suggest 'no' - plenty of threads saying the Q3 will be getting the MQB platform at some point in the future.
Purchased a 2 year old Astra from a franchise dealer in Warrington. Had problems with indicators which I tool to a local dealer to fix but also had a problem with spluttering/misfiring after the car warmed up after approx 25 - 30 mins, this also resulted in the engine warning light flashing as well. Got it booked in to the local dealer who failed to fix the issue and in the meantime I wrote to the dealer I purchased it from stating that it was going in and if it wasn't fixed then I woudl reject it. Low and behold it wasn't fixed and therefore I rejected the vehicle in writing after less than 3 weeks of buying it.
The fault only appeared when I started to drive after 25 mins as I had only done short trips up to that point. Only when I started a new job with longer commute times it becamae apparent. It was a bit sluggish comming out of the M6 toll when I collected it but once up to motoray speed seemed OK.... Read more
OK thanks for the advice, this makes things a bit clearer.
I am having an intermittent problem with some of the electrics I.e. whilst driving I can hear an occasional clicking noise coming from under the glove compartment immediately when I hear this my vipers and indicators seem to stop working. Also if at night time my lights go off if I continue to drive eventually the car clicks again and the electrics return or otherwise I have to stop the car and restart.
It is an intermittent problem which I am struggling to find a solution for I have taken the car to the garage who have suggested that I may have to go to the dealers and have a electrical management unit changed at a considerable cost any suggestions? And what is the unit actually called as there are many on the vehicle.
thanks

If you have a circuit diagram of the wiring you should be able to trace it through with a meter until you find the point at which it has dissapeared if it will stay off long enough of course. If you are unable to do this yourself I would take it to a good auto electrician rather than the garage.
There may of course be be someone who knows the answer but if no one turns up here I would suggest you find a dedicated Renault forum.
Very aptly described at Sniff Petrol

Home tax liens are serious, as they can cost an individual their house. The liens, which are a somewhat popular investment automobile, can end up with people being foreclosed on and evicted from their home for as little as a few hundred dollars. Source for this article: Tax Aliens
NCLC finds tax liens getting property owners badly foreclosed on
It is fairly obvious to know that not paying your mortgage will lead to foreclosure. What you most likely did not know is that not paying property taxes and not paying homeowner association charges can also lead to foreclosure. Make sure you are always paying any financial burdens associated with owning a home so you can avoid severe consequences such as foreclosure.
When a homeowner falls behind on property taxes, according to the Huffington Post, a tax lien could be filed against the property by the local government and, if unpaid for long enough, the home can be foreclosed on. It doesn't even take much; a recent report by the National Consumer Law Center found some people are being evicted from their houses, regardless of being current on mortgage loans, for owing as little as $400. Subprime borrowers, specifically minorities and the elderly, are at the highest risk.
Investment typically
Part of the issue is that many tax liens are sold to investors, some of whom will foreclose on the house. For properties with taxes in arrears, according to Fox Business, local governments will hold tax lien auctions. Bidders compete by pledging to collect the taxes for the lowest rate or to pay the most for the rights to the home win the right to the lien. Tax liens, according to Bloomberg, had attracted numerous investors, including some very large institutional investors such as JPMorgan Chase, but many have since exited.
Only 28 states and Washington D.C. actually auction tax liens like that; not all of them are interested in it, according to Bloomberg. It might be a fantastic idea to purchase a tax lien on a home in an affluent area because the bank will pay you off the majority of the time. It is not worth it on distressed houses usually and cannot get you wealthy quick.
Steep discount rates
Each state varies in how it treats tax liens. Some tax lien investors, once they have foreclosed on the residents, are able to get properties from the rightful owners for pennies on the dollar as some states, according to the Huffington Post, only allow properties to be sold for the amount of back taxes owed.
It seems nearly impossible to determine how many homes are sold this way. It is estimated by Trace Platform to be between $7 and $10 billion in yearly sales, according to Bloomberg, but JPMorgan estimated only $5 billion in liens were sold in 2008. The NCLC believes there is a higher number since in 2008, Florida sold $2 billion in liens alone.

Again, many thanks RT and to Falkirk Bairn for your sage advice. There's quite a few descriptions of the facelift changes on the net, mainly a bigger choice of engines, improved interior materials and, of course, daylight running lights. I think I can live without them for the price I've so far negotiated which includes 3 years interest free with 50% deposit.
Off to hassle the salesman a bit more this morning before I make a final decision.
Cheers.
