Might have b***** known Haynes would be wrong. Those relays and fuses are for auxilliary water heaters !

It's relay 9 in the engine fuse/relay box, but I have no idea what fuse feeds it....

Tho you don't say what milage is on your 2l renault. Theres certainly a issue with the 2l hydraulic chain tensioner & chain. When either of the 2 are worn (common fault) it causes a non start situation simply because it alters ignition timing needs to be checked out Hth Regards Mickeybo

Hi

I had an engine management light come on on my wifes Corsa. Its 2008 1.2 model. The code was 0068 MAF/MAP sensor. All the breather pipes and pipes to the sensor were a bit 'gungy' and have been cleaned. Following this the car starts and runs better but the engine management light came back on after a few miles of driving.... Read more

I cleaned out the MAP on my Rover (MEMS ignition module) with carb cleaner. I then put a small filter in line to keep the gunge out of it. Just clean out the filter each service.

I've cleaned my Saabs MAF with carb cleaner too

Mini Cooper S 2007 Busted!

Purchased new in Sept 2007 and already spent out on Ingnition Coil, Fly Wheel, Clutch and Water Pump. Timing Tensioner upgrade 2009. Turbo Coolant Pump recalled and replaced 2013.

Last week the timing Tensioner has had a catistrophic failure and has subsequently seized the engine. The car now needs a new engine! How can a five year old car, with 44,000 miles on the clock and cost over £22,000, need a new engine!

BMW have refused to cover anything.

I have taken legal advice and been advised to fight. Please reply to post or get in contact at paperhatftp@me.com with your stories to support the case against BMW.... Read more

The BMW 1 series chain failure was a design fault and will be changed out under warranty at request actually I think it was the tensioner that was faulty unlike the 1.4 VWs which was a design fault in the actual chain ,nothing to do with oil or any other service reason, a pure design fault.

Hi,

for a few months now most of the time my car doesn't blow hot air and even on the rare occasion it does it takes an age for it to happen - e.g. driving for about 20 miles at a constant speed.

Also, the rear footwells on both sides are wet, I know that water comes in through the bottom of the rear passenger door when going through a car wash as have watched this happen - is it a seal on the bottom of the door or what that is the problem here?

Any ideas? Read more

Sorry for the late update:

the thermostat has been replaced and it makes no difference. There is also a smell that has come from it a couple of times like as if somethings burning but only lasts a short while and its when turn the temp dial going from cool to hot.

But even if it is 'just water', you still need to find out why your coolant needs topping up. Has it been changed regularly? If so, it should look like dilute antifreeze, if not, some rusty colour or worse. If it was changed recently you may need to top up as any airlocks get eliminated. Otherwise you have a leak somewhere.

I have read a lot of answers in the back room to get a clue to the water leak on my 2004 Vectra. I have a damp (often very damp!) boot on nearside which could be from all sorts of places (as in the answers in back room) but I've still not found it - I will keep trying. I have removed one of the bungs below the spare wheel to allow water to drain out.

BUT I also have a leak which at times in late Dec/early Jan resulted in water up to 2 inches deep in the front passenger footwell. A garage I spoke to (not a Vauxhall one) said it could be water coming in at the back of the car and making its way to the front footwell (presumably along inside the "sill" below the doors?? Iincidentally this "pond" at front would happen even when the car was parked on our (level) drive. Is it really possible this can happen or is it most likely that I have a separate leak at the front too? Read more

You don't say whether you bought it privately or from a garage. If the latter, you need to be talking to them pronto! And in the interim, do not take it elsewhere to be fixed, you need to give them the opportunity to do so. As you haven't had it more than a few days, you could probably also reject it and claim your money back.

If it was a private sale, you have my sympathy, hope it's not too expensive to sort....
