Hi please help..
I own a 2005 vauxhall vectra 3.0 cdti Sri auto estate.
I've just recent come across the problem while driving it sudden cuts out and some days it won't play up.
I called AA out yesterday as it wouldnt start first thing then it did.
Anyway the car called up no faults what's so ever.
He then took alook at the diesel filter and said there is slight bits of metal laying in the bottom of the filter housing and recommend taken the car to a garage.
Any way when he went I bought new diesel filter and cleaned out filter housing and replaced with new filter and seals.
Sine then perfect. Done about 70 miles. Decided to put my foot to the floor and then back to the same issue.
It runs like its running out of fuel then stalls. Then I put the car into park mode turn the key a 3 or 4 times and way she goes with a few coughs then it seems to correct itself.
Just gone out it in agin for a short trip and perfect not miss a beat. If anyone good guide me would be a great help.. Read more
Hi all,
I have realized a strange noise coming from the engine bay. This happens only when I run the car in the morning, so let say when it is cold. I don't hear it during the rest of the day. What would you say? It's 2010 model 1.6 HDI 90 hp.
Here is the video for the noise.... Read more
Hi. I am the same model 2010 74,000 miles making the same sound. Peogeot dealership just advised me that is probably the water pump failing and offer to replace the water pump timing belt and anti freeze for £400. Apparent all these parts are related when it comes to fixing a water pump.
I would say the that I have only noticed a slight medium to high pitch hum when idioling. And a slight increase in fuel consumption. Used to get 70mpg now 67.3mpg using same driving style over same destinations.
why does every one moan about electric hand brakes?I was a bit concerned when i went for a test drive before i bought the car as im an enthusiastic driver but now i think its great, i pull the leaver and it comes on i then just select a gear and pull away and it disengages automatically, i can even stop on a hill without even doing any thing as it applies automatically perhaps im getting lazy with old age! i havent come across any down sides apart from i suppose it will cost more to fix 10 years down the line but the same apples to electric windows, and when you have 2 cars and one has it and one doesnt you have to remember to go back to the old trusted method! Slightly off topic, but GB, have a look at the Hyundai i10 as a replacement for the Aygo.
My elder daughter had four 1.3 Yarises in a row, and would happily have had a fifth but for a new one costing over £13,000 whereas the i10 was £7700, or about £100 less per month. She is very happy with it although she misses the 6-speed gearbox (which by the sound of it you wouldn't). Fifth in the i10 is high-geared enough for motorways: in fact it was only the fourth of her Yarises that had 6 speeds....
Hi All,
Got a little problem with my mk5 golf. Recently when using the fob to lock the doors, the passenger door hasn't locked. Couple of weeks later and it wont lock at all, be it with the fob or just using the key. I tried my other fob just in case it was a problem with the battery and still got the same problem.... Yes, it sounds like the latch.
There is no actuator - the days of seperate motor units went past more than 2 decades ago!
Hi, how long does it take for a mazda 6 2.2diesel to regenerate the dpf. I do 22 miles a day to and bck from work, mostly around town. In total i do about 140miles a week.
Will this be enough to keep the DPF issue at bay. ... Read more
140 miles per week is petrol territory!
Mazda have pretty much ironed out their DPF issues so a 2009 model should be fine, but do consider whether you will get enough blasts on the motorway/A roads to kick the DPF into its regen cycle. Economically, it might just be worth looking at a petrol. Also 68k is quite high mileage for a car that is only just 4 years old, which shows you that someone has done 'diesel' mileage in it and might be getting shot of it before it's knackered....
Does anybody know if the continual use of one of the 'premium' diesel fuels decreases the frequency of DPF regens if compared with the standard brews? Read more
I don't believe use of premium diesel does reduce regeneration frequency. It seems most DPF-equipped cars do a regeneration not just when the sensors indicate there is a high soot loading in the matrix, but also on a mileage-interval basis (presumably as a failsafe to ensure the DPF matrix stays unclogged).
Certainly the DPF-related literature I've seen from Ford, Vauxhall and Jaguar indicates a mileage-based regeneration regime as well as a when-it's-needed regen. My current Volvo is the same -- it does a regen about every 600 - 700 miles....
I have problems with my car after stopping it and getting out when I get back in the engine will start however no gears can be selected if I leave for about 10 minutes or so when I try it again I can select the gears alright the car has been back to the main dealer however they say that they can not find any fault this has been happening for about 9months on and off the car is only 13months old any one any ideas? I am really fed up with the car and wish I had never seen it Read more
if you own one of these things go onto youtube and look on there just put in make and automatic problem , i bought a renault modus yes i know but did not researcg it first now i know how to work on it and how to do everything i need i got a tablet with screen cord on it and i built up a data base of how to videos ,yours sounds like the gear lock is not releasing when you say you cant select the gear or if the shifter is not locked its going to be a sensor there is no excuse for a main dealer not being able to diagnose it those scanners cover everything
Its probably a known problem but the dealer does not want to cough up the time and parts look on the youtube !...

Help!
My 'up and over' garage has stuck in the open posiiton. Do not understand the mechanics, so cannot work out how to fix it. Are there any experts in the back room who can advise?... Read more
Indeed, FP, you're spot on there.
My two pennor'th (all that time ago) would have been to have ditched the up and over and forked out for an electric/remote controlled roller door.
Pure luxury compared to up and overs in my humble opinion.
Having said that, I did have an electrically operated up and over once (done by a professional fitter) and it worked well for years ... but I did keep it greased/oiled/adjusted/whatever. But the roller doors I've since owned or recommended to others have been great.
I'm worried about the Mokka I ordered in December (due for delivery in May) after reading owners' reports on this new model on the Mokka Owners Forum. A number of people with the Adaptive Forward Lighting system are reporting problems with misalligned headlights that dazzle oncoming traffic, then when they are lowered the AFL warning light comes on and the lights "bounce" around giving traffic the impression that they are being flashed (eg to let them out of a side road). Spot the accident waiting to happen...Vauxhall don't seem sure of what the problem is or how to fix it. Some brand new cars have been back with the dealer for more days than their new owners have had them to drive!
I've asked Vauxhall about it and they said not to worry, my car should be fine. But I am worried. I believe I can't cancel my order without losing my deposit so how can I make sure that my lights are correctly set up before I sign for the car? Read more
I love BMWs but when I get picked by taxi I always use a company that has nothing but A6s and they seem measurable better as a passanger than any BMWs ,you the funny farm surely not the OAPs home maybe my wife keeps threatenning to send me there.
Thought I've resolved the problem with fuel pipe . But it came back a few days later.
Decided to take to vauxhall main dealer. They done full check over and said its not shown any faults.
There next thought was to take alook in the fuel tank.. They found a lot of surge in the bottom of the tank and said that's a lot in a fuel tank they cleaned the fuel system and shown me photos of the surge. And clean the fuel lines. Now it feels like a diffract car running 100% and was only £225 for the work. Well pleased.
