I was driving along the other day but when I came to a stop and pressed the clutch pedal it just stayed at the bottom, after trying to find a problem for ages and replacing the master and slave cylinder the clutch was too hard to push, it was then I realised that the slave cylinder is already pushed out as if its pushing on the fork in the gearbox which just moves freely without the cylinder there, is there a common problem that I'm unaware of, i'm not sure if the fork has just come off, the thrust bearing has failed or something more serious, any ideas what could of happening before I take the box off??

The heater fan on my 1996 Honda Civic is not working - so currently there is no heat being directed into my car either from the heater itself or the engine - making driving in this weather virtually impossible as the windscreen keeps icing up (hence my urgent cry for help above!)... Read more

I'm also going to try and find a helpful HGV forum/board to see if anyone can help me name & locate a supplier for the elusive HGV-window-heating device - as although the weather here is milder than earlier in the week, making driving easier I'm not convinced it will last......

I have recently bought one of these myself but don't have much experience with it yet. I was told the speedo on mine did this - but it hasn't yet. The speedo sensor is mounted on the diff housing just above where the o/s drive shaft enters it, but I think on the Hdi model this also supplys info to the engine management system so if the fuel consumption computer is working, its not likely to be the problem, most likely its a fault in the instrument panel itself, these are not serviciable I am told, so a replacement one from a breaker may be required.
This also maybe the reason for your low temperature reading but I wouldn't worry about that as long as the heater is working OK.
Noticed that the radiator fan on my 2007 Getz CRTD CDX+ keeps coming on and off even though the engine is not hot, even before the engine tempertaure light goes out. Top, bottom hose's nor the radiator never get warm.
The fan does cycle on and off but since the radiator never gets hot can't see that the fan goes off due to the normal cooling effect. ... Read more
Might be a daft question at this time of year, is the aircon turned off?
If aircon/climate control were turned on the fan would cycle as described.

The last few morning when I've got in the car the gearstick has been totally stuck, somtimes it will move around in neutral but will not go into any gears untill the engine has been running for a few mins, then, suddenly it will work as normal.

I doubt if you have water in the gearbox more than likely the selector arms are stiffening up in the cold probably need a good clean and regrease.
