Unbelievable..!!! - Sofa Spud

Just seen a man driving a car on icy road - like skating rink, talking on a hand-held mobile while trying to keep car from sliding about with one hand!

Unbelievable..!!! - veryoldbear

Was he smoking as well ?

Unbelievable..!!! - Dutchie

One of these idiots came towards me yesterday a 4 by 4 mobile in one hand and driving to fast for the conditions snow and ice.

Every evening for the past few days, Mrs W has come home complaining about the idiots driving up her backside on the narrow, icy, packed-down snow lanes to work – the culprits being largely 4x4s and Audis. [By the way, I wouldn’t describe Mrs W as a particularly slow driver] Anyway, she came home gleefully last night and reported that at around lunchtime on her journey between work locations, when she was driving south on the A143 out of Horringer (Suffolk), a gold-coloured Civic flew past her. She had just left the village and was doing around 50mph on a gritted but wet road. About 4 miles later, the car had hit a patch of snow that had apparently blown in from the field and he was in the ditch. She claims to have resisted putting 2 fingers up to him.

Ha ha! That is very funny Waino! I've had lots of cars sitting on my bumper today on icy and snowy roads, including a 4x4 trying to overtake as we approached a pedestrian crossing and a roundabout.

Plus lots of cars trying to pull out of junctions etc by using loads of revs and wheel spinning. As well as the usual trick of driving with a small patch of ice/snow cleared on windscreen!

Glad I am not a commuter, and my thoughts are with those who are!

Just how did this pensioner see out of her windscreen?

The problem with a some 4x4 drivers is that they think they're invincible because they can keep going when others are struggling for grip - but when they hit a patch of black ice or hard-packed snow while going too fast it's a case of 'hello Mr. Ditch' or worse.

Unbelievable..!!! - Smileyman

So did the driver clear the snow off from windows, roof and lights ... if not they are in line for a full house 12+ points and instant banning!!

If people insist on driving 3 inches from my bumper I just stamp on the brake pedal, the resulting 5-10 mph (closing speed) bump results in hardly a scratch to my rear bumper but many hundreds of pounds worth of smashed xenon headlights for the offender. Try it - one of the best stress-relievers ever invented. I have "educated" 7 or 8 offenders this way over the years - it's great driving a car you don't particularly care about!

Or alternatively get a 'towbar' fitted like I had on my MK1 focus.

The result:

zero damage for me!

Hundreds for the 'ar****le' on her mobile phone who was tailgating me!

take care though. Many moons ago a car reversed in to the side of my Rover 2000 (1968 version). Result a hole in my door and no apparent damage to him. My car was aincient so was happy for him to buy a s/h door and pay for fitting/painting. It later transpired that the collision had ripped the tow bar off it's fixings and written off his car.

SteveLeeJust because some idiot is tailgating you doesnt give you an excuse to cause mayhem, Deliberately causing an accident could get you a ban. It won't be stress relieving if you wake up in hospital. Your lucky if one of your 7or 8 offenders didn't give you a thick lip or worse, there are too many nutters on the road. I know of three incidents of extreme road rage and all have ended with hospital visits. One acquintance tried your trick. The nutter behind took a baseball bat out of his car and proceeded to smash my acquaintances skull into fragments. After rebuilding his skull, but resulting in permanent brain damage he spent longer in hospital(18 months) than the offender did in prison. In another incident an Audi driver brake tested my mate in his van. The audi driver regained conciousness with a broken nose lying on the A34 slip road.(my mate is a cage fighter in his spare time).

Thanks for the concern turbo11, I'll take my chances just as I always have - I can handle myself - ta Steve.

Even better if you have a tow hitch ....

Funny thing happened today.

I was exiting a roundabout where 2 lanes merge into 1, I was in the inside lane, Mr Smart**** in a prestiege car overtook me & forced his way in in front of me, life's to short to get stewed up & he tailgated the car in front, I would rather have an idiot like that in front of me than behind me. Then the road went into 2 lanes briefly at traffic lights, he went into the outside lane and again barged his way in, this time, he was stuck behind a big van with an equally big tow bar and was about 6 cars in front of me. After about 3 miles there was a roundabout, he had been tailgaiting the van for 3 miles, I don't know what happened but the van & Mr Smart**** pulled over just past the roundabout with their hazards on & the van driver got out & was examining his towbar so I guess his tailgaiter got it wrong & bumped into the van.

You would appear to be living proof of some thing I have long advocated for, that a phycological test be included in the driving test as you are obviously not fireing on all cylinders !!

Lest ther be any confusion my last post was addressed to Stevelee.

Don't drive 3 inches from my bumper and you won't have a problem.
