I have just bought a Citroen C5 2.2L HDi 2002 (02) 5 door, the battery was disconnected to fir a new rear door lock and now the Trip Computer does not work (it worked fine before the disconnection), the button on the wiper stalk does not respond at all.
The only thing on the display is the time, date, external temp and radio/ CD details when the radio is in use.... Read more
Hi all!
My sister has a 99 Toyota Yaris and i am trying to change the fuel filter but cannot seem to find it. There is a black 'box' mounted to the bulkhead just to the right of the engine that one of the fuel lines runs into but i cant see any way of undoing it. It seems to be the right size though.
Can anyone help? Read more
Hi,
I'm in the process of compiling a library of Ford Sales Brochures going back for the past 20 to 30 years. I've made a start, and have about 30 brochures uploaded, with another 30 currently being scanned in.
If you've got a brochure scanned in which isn't in our library, I'd be grateful for a copy. The aim is to have a comprehensive library, to preserve them for the future, and also to allow everyone access to them, instead of being in the hands of collectors so no-one ever gets to see them!

Lol! There will be a lull before the next batch, so you can get back to work :)
another idle-ish thought.....
much seems to have been made about the components of common rail injection systems which are lubricated by the fuel itself. i.e. high pressure pump, injectors etc.... Read more
What I dont understand why having different grade of fuels be it diesel or petrol.I am all for competition whatever that means but fuel it doesn't make sense. There should be one quality standard and the pricing is up to the BP Shell etc and the supermarket chains.
What is the best method of dealing with this scenario?
There is a slip-road on a road I regularly commute, where the slip is long but runs up a bank. Many, many drivers make no real effort to get up to speed on this slip, preferring to trundle along at 35-40mph and then accelerate to around 45-50 when joining, generally causing chaos.... Read more
I actually stated that:
There is no reason to come to a stop on a motorway sliproad unless there is a traffic jam, or you have broken down, what you have said comes under 'traffic jam' does it not?
If the motorway is gridlocked, then you have no choice other than to slow down to a crawl, and hope that a driver already on the motorway will let you join.
My argument on this subject is that it is a 2 way thing:
Drivers already on the motorway should be aware that there is a junction up ahead, and that there are likely to be vehicles joining the motorway, and should try to act accordingly, circumstances permitting.
Drivers joining the motorway from a sliproad, should try to match the speed of the traffic (where possible) on the inside lane of the motorway and filter in where it is safe to do so.
If the traffic on the motorway is gridlocked or moving very slowly then you will of course have to stop, or filter in at very low speed, that goes without saying.
A few days ago my car (Audi A3 1.8T 2003) started to be really sluggish under acceleration at slow speeds, idled roughly etc.
I suspected spark plug fouling or something up with the air filter, but when i took the cover off the engine i found a burst air? pipe. Can somebody identify this please so that i can order a replacement. Also, can anybody think why that would happen?... Read more
I have sent you the drawing. If you can not read .mdi files there are free readers on the net. Regards Peter
Do they exist?
I'm trying to find one that will fit in my garage without struggling. My garage has a 2m opening, once it's inside I still need to be able to open the door, although the garage is a little wider (maybe 1ft) inside. This makes my choice of cars very limited. A Honda Jazz won't even fit, with the mirrors it's wider than the opening, and a Grande Punto would leave me with 3cm of space each side.... Read more
I agree Avant, Im confused over the handling difference of an Aygo, C1 and 107 being as they are all the same car ! and as for the C1 being unresponsive, what a lively 3 cyl engine, go like the clappers for what they are. Ours are even great on the motorway and holds its own at 80+ and no engine noise at all!
I wondered whether he read about them rather than driven them
Apologies this is my first posting - so hopefully this is OK.
We have a Citroen C3 (1.4 Diesel) which has been running fine, and runs generally OK for 90% of its time. However its started to cut out when slowing down to junctions or when the clutch is pressed (usually with radio/blower on). There is zero stuttering, just 100% engine cut off with the battery light illuminated as if I rotated the key off.... Read more
have you spoken to Citreon to see if there is a software upgrade available for stalling.
It could be a speed sensor but i would speak to citreon first as software upgrade were available for the 1,4HDi for a stalling issue.
You may of noticed that sometimes when you reverse it just cuts out dead and that is to do with the designated idle speed and when the pump drops below the threshold it just switches off instantly.

Recently bought a 5 year old Daihatsu Charade with 25K miles. The service record was fully stamped up and the dealer assured me it had been well looked after etc etc by a local owner and fully serviced by a local, reliable, garage.
When I got it home I noticed the service schedule stated the cam belt should be changed at 60K miles or 5 years so it should have been changed at this years service. I asked the selling garage to check with the servicing garage if the cam belt had been changed - it hadn't. I think he should do it; needless to say he doesn't! His argument is that it is an 'optional' service item and upto the owner. I argue that despite the service stamp, it had not been fully serviced to the manufacturers schedule and therefore was not as described by implication. (I do not believe the dealer intentionally mislead me). I do feel I paid (slightly) over the top for the car but was 'sold' on the reliability of a small dealer and full 6
month warranty but I don't feel like spending more now.
Have I got a case against the dealer who sold me the car. Indeed should I worry as the car has only done 25K miles and cambelts don't deteriorate with age (his argument, not mine). My last conversation with him resulted in the manager (owner) agreeing to go halves; on the one hand I don't feel I should, on the other hand I don't want the hassle of small claims court! Should I just forget it and renew the belt in a couple of years or so
(mileage will be low)?
Many thanks for any opinions or advice. Read more
Many repairs are made successfully beyond the warranty period on a "goodwill" basis but you have no chance whatsoever if the service history has not been fully complied with.
If you bought the car on that basis that it had, then - as I indicated before - you should demand they undertake it.
hi all
I am faced with a problem
Want to change car with big running costs for one with cheap running costs.
Existing car is £315pm with 20 mpg and 440 road tax pa.
I wanted to buy an audi 1.6di sportback but dealer only wanted to sell me 1.6 petrol 3 door at 20k£ or face a 5 month wait. lol. Are all audi dealers total muppets?
Me thinks golf bluemotion is closest to what I want so head to nearest dealer.
Salesman feigns indifference and tells me blue motion is incredibly rare but offers me base spec golf with steel wheels. Is it just me?
WTF. I go into my local bmw dealer and he discounts a 118d by 2k,offers me 1k more for my car than anyone else and a 4 year pcp deal £50 less than audi, volkwagen, skoda.
TL.DR
Never considered a bmw before, are they as good as a skoda vrs crd Read more
Hi all again
I have plumped for the BMW 318d after all. Surprisingly it will be the cheapest to run.
The Skoda had a bigger oomph feeling but the BMW had enough to keep me happy.
Quality wise nothing between them.
The BMW had 5 years free servicing included which swung it for me.
However if I had had a BMW before but never a Skoda I would probably have gone for the vrs.
Thanks for your advice backroom.
