Hi,
I need to get the part numbers off my ABS pump so I can order a replacement but I can't find it i.e. it's not obviously under the bonnet anywhere. Can anyone help?... Read more
Having used Ford Formula E semi-synthetic 5w30 oil for many years in my Zetec engine Mondeo I have noticed that this oil is now 'old' stock and that this has been replaced by Formula F fully synthetic 5w30. The can does not even state if this new oil is API SL or API SM specification, can anyone confirm which spec it is? Is this fully compatible with the older ford range that was originally designed for semi synthetic 5w30? I would imagine that the newer oil and older one cannot be mixed, as currently I have some of the older oil still left. Any help would be great. Read more

i have now had a replacment alternator put in the car and battery light is still showing on dashboard.it seems to be when i turn engine on and cold outside the front and rear demisters come on for a couple of minutes then battery light comes on and front demister goes off and will not work.the only way i can stop this is when i turn engine on and turn off demisters right away and that seems to solve the problem.
any ideas folks, this is bugging me now Read more

I'm thinking of swapping my 4 year old A4 Avant for something newer in 2011.... Read more
If you can, wait for the next 3-series touring to come out before making a decision. If that's not possible, then, as others have said, it is down to personal opinion.
Trouble is, that if I do this then the equivalent BMW will be the same price or dearer than the current model of A4 Avant and the argument goes away. As I'm not looking to buy brand new, the new Beemer would not be available to me till late 2011, which is the wrong timeframe..
A rear wheel bearing failed on my July 2007 Santa Fe diesel auto at about 63,000 miles earlier this year. It was replaced without fuss under warranty.
At 72,000 miles the other side is failing and this time the dealer tells me that Hyundai have changed their terms and that this sort of "wear and tear" item is not covered after 60,000 miles. It will therefore cost me £350 to have it fixed.
I bought the Hyundai partly on the basis of its unlimited mileage warranty so am pretty unhappy about this. I have the car serviced regularly by the dealer, at the specified mileages.
Can Hyundai just change a warranty mid-term like this?
Is £350 (this includes the part at £199) to replace a wheel bearing reasonable? Read more
Did you get this resolved in the end? My rear bearing on my 2007 has gone at 59k and the dealer won't fix under warranty. Like you I don't have the original warranty booklet. Any ideas?
Thanks...
Hi There
In the last week or so my car has developed a smoking exhaust, white ish in colour, that does not go away after the engine has heated up for a while. I have topped up the oil and perhaps the problem started after this.... Read more
Glad to hear it. Make sure you only pour in small amounts of oil and check the dipstick regularly if you top it up again though!
Hi I really could do with someones expert advice and guidance. I have a 9-5 2.2 tdi 04 reg vector it has the following problem; I have had the car now for 3 years and have never seen the glow plug light on the dashboard and the car has always been a bit of a pig in the cold weather to start. When car is hot starts a treat, when car has been standing overnight in this cold weather it can take a good 5-6 seconds to start followed by a large white cloud of smoke, car runs fine on the whole just a b***** to start in cold weather. When the car starts from hot or in normal temp weather no smoke or any other problem. I decided to disconnect the plug to the water temp sensor on the top of the engine and hey presto the glow plug light came on ! Next time I went to start the car from cold I decided to remove the plug from the sensor and the glow plug light came on and the car started within a heart beat. So this led me to shoot off and buy a replacement sensor, which I swiftly fitted and hey presto next the next morning NO glow plug light and its a pig to start again. I thought I may have got hold of a duff replacement, but I think it does work as it appears to also control the engine temp display on the dash board. So in summary, water temp sensor appears to tell glow plugs when to turn on and also controls the engine temp on dash board, when disconected glow plugs come on and work but temp sensor on dash does not. Can anyone shed some light on this for me ? Read more
I have a 2.2tid and the glowplug light only comes on at under zero degrees. In fact I'd never really seen it until the recent cold snap.
Bought a Transit last week. Van was serviced day before I purchased it.
Drove the thing home - 400 miles, following day I checked the oil level and noticed it was 3/4" above the upper mark. Thought the garage had overfilled the thing so changed the oil and filter myself.... Read more
Its also possible there is nothing wrong at all.
SUCCESS! I had the valve modulator replaced for £305 inc. parts, labour and VAT. The ABS, traction control and ESP are now all working correctly. That's a huge saving on the original quote for £1,400. Thank you all who helped me out with ths problem.
