Hi
I have a Mk V Golf a 1.6 petrol engine its 2.5 years old done 26000 miles. I took it in to a vw garage in march after 2nd gear was not shifting very easy . After argueing they replaced the 2nd gear syncho which they found to be faulty they told me that the clutch was fine. 3600 miles later the clutch is going and is not covered by warrenty which I think is disgusting that a intergral driving part of the car is not covered. Any one have ideas how i can get them to replace it. All I can think of is the sale of goods act that may cover me since the part is not fit for purpose.... Read more
Unless they caused damage to the plates and dont want to own up to it.Dont give up yet have a word with somebody in charge in the garage. For the plates to go at 26000 miles is far to early.

I am looking into getting a new Vauxhall Zafira 1.9 diesel (120bhp) automatic.
What are your views?
I know it is heavy on fuel compared to manual version but just fancy an automatic and this is within my price range.
Thanks in advance for any replies Read more
Thanks for the replies. All points noted.
Been for a drive in a zafira 120bhp automatic. It was nice but not as responsive as i hoped. Kept an eye on the fuel consumption around town and dual carriageway, it was in the high 20s low 30s.
As it has been said elsewhere the car is a gear lower than you would have in a manual box while accelerating but when you ease off the accelerator it goes up a gear.
I feel it may be best to assume i would get the same fuel consumption figures as a manual petrol car.

Hi there,
I would some advice on a car I purchased about 4 weeks ago from an independant garage, at a cost of £4000 (£3600 plus £400 part ex of my old vehicle) with a fully stamped service book - the past three years servicing at the garage where the car was sold - and a full MoT.... Read more
Hi Dutchie & Happy Polo,
Just a quick update to let you know how I'm getting on. Since my last post I've written out a letter and it has been sent, recorded delivery, to the garage....
Recently i have noticed that my power steering is extremely heavy and the steering wheel vibrates dramatically when reaching 70mph. I took it to my local garage, which a friend of the family owns and asked them to check it out. I checked my tyre pressures to ensure they were at the correct PSI and they balanced the wheels for me but this has not helped at all. Is there anything else i can check, fill up, drain out etc or has anyone else had this problem. Thanks :) Read more
Presumably you have checked the fluid level, if that's OK check the tension on the pump drive belt, it could be slipping. I doubt that your steering problem is anything to do with the vibration, far more likely to be wheel balance or if you are sure that is OK, ply seperation causing a bulge in the tyre.
Hello everybody, our daughter is getting married in two weeks and i had a look at the wedding cars. The Humber the one we are in belonged to the Queen,i have to learn to wave like royalty the owner said.(only kidding). The chap who owns the business is a real enthusiast and i had a enjoyable hr looking at different cars all Humbers from the past. One was driven by Sir Stirling Moss who drove through mainland europe on a marathon test.Anybody here who has driven the Humber and who ownes one?Lovely car engines where build in Coventry and the chap who started it all was Thomas Humber born in Sheffield and educated in Kingston Upon Hull. Hello ohsoslow that could be my nickname i am getting slower,i dont think you are far wrong with the 100mph some of the humbers where capable of a decent speed.I used to be the same on motorbikes i used to go far to fast did't see any danger. Some of these modern bikes the speed they are capable of unbelievable. If you ever want to see a nice collection of humbers Marshall in Hull.Regards to your brother.
This happened occasionally over the years, but now regular.

Sounds like you are loosing the main battery supply.
As you had the problem before it was changed unlikely to be the battery, but check that the terminals are clean & tight....

It tells you in the service book if you have one.
