The car starts ok but after about a minute it starts to run rough almost like it is missfiring, when it gets warm seems to run fine. I have been told its a common problem does any one have any idea's.

Hi there, i need to replace a broken tie rod end boot (the big black boot which covers the steering arm from the steering rack to the inner tie rod) (not the cv boot) my question is do i grease the steering arm/steering knuckle and boot? or is the boot just a dust cover so put back together with no grease etc?
Thanks for any help/info... Read more

Am never going to have the spare cash to buy a Carver as a toy, but would like to rent one.
Appreciate that they're not made anymore but have read that some 230 made it to the UK. Does anyone know of any companies that are renting these out. Read more

It looks like there will shortly be another step forwards in road safety - as these safety cameras are deployed nationally.

"You can`t help feeling it`s an opportunity missed though. Surely the technology exists to govern cars speed direct from the ECU - via global positioning and also regulate the gap to the car in front?"
Ha - careful oilrag, you are touching a nerve there with many forumers! I suggested exactly this some time ago in a thread and the responses were as venomous as if I'd recommended legalising paedophilia. But having just read in my local paper of a motorcyclist who was clocked at over 100 mph on a country B-road and 60 mph through the 30 zone in my village (overtaking on a double white line and doing wheelies!) I must conclude that morons like that make the adoption of this controlling technology inevitable - regardless of the protests. Personally I'd like to see everyone drive so sensibly (and sensitively) that speed limits were unnecessary - but I'm a hopeless dreamer....
Evening all,
I'm thinking of purchasing a 1998 Saab 9-5. I've been having a discussion with the current owner about it, and it seems that it develops a whine when first started.
I've not had chance to go and see it yet, but does anyone have any ideas about what this might be, as in a notorious Saab problem? Read more
Is she the petrol model or the 2.2.TID ? The 2.2TID is chain cam and rather agricultural but difficult to break.
Just changed the spark plugs on the lancer A 2007 1.6 with the 4G18 enigne.
I had assumed it had standard plugs (NGK BKR6E-11) but instead I found it had been fitted (at the factory) with NGK IFR6S iridium spark plugs. (these should be changed at 54k - Not 27K as per the BKR6E)
I changed them anyway as I had bought the new ones. The old ones however look kinda funny, it appears to have staining round the insulator base, almost like exhaust blow buy. Its the same on all four. (its not rust - the metal socket body is rust free)
Any thoughts? they look like they have been running hot to me.

Toyota have stopped selling their Lexus $x$ because of questions re. the stability control. During a test the tester took his foot of the accelerator and the car turned half around.
A. What kind of manoeuvre would the tester have been doing ?
B. Do the BRs think that the tester was driving a bit like a joy-rider after stealing his first car ?

I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to find 53 dead GM drivers, 53 dead Chrysler owners or 53 Ford owners in the US that you could loosely link to some defect on their vehicles if you looked hard enough.

I believe that it is just a dust cover, it is on most cars anyway, the steering rack is lubricated internally by the hydraulic fluid, assuming it has power steering, which most cars have. Was there any grease in the old one? I think that is your best guide.
