I have recently noticed that the coolant in my expansion tank keeps filling up, even after I have extracted sufficient coolant to obtain the level between the min. and max. marks.

Can any one offer any advice on what the problem might be please?... Read more

Update; Dealer did a pressure test to-day, and couldn't find anything wrong. I notice that the coolant level is "normal" at present, so I will keep an eye on it and see how it goes. I suppose it's possible that the pressure test could have dislodged an air-lock, so, fingers crossed.

Thank you to all who have replied so far - any other ideas as to possible cause will be most welcome.

Got home today to find out I had my licence revoked 2 days ago on medical grounds. I supposedly have "problems with my memory and/or understanding that is likely to make it unsafe to drive". I have notified them of the medical problems. Given them infomation and given permission for a report to be accessed from my hospital notes. I have never been told I was unsafe to drive I work at the same hospital as a nurse administering drugs etc. Surely if one department thinks I am safe to work, but another does not think I am safe to drive its a poor show. My suspicion is that it is the interpretation of the report that has lead to the misunderstanding. In the meantime if I can not get to work (which I can't without driving) then I will lose my job. However I am worried that it is going to take as many months to sort out as it has taken for me to be informed (just short of 4 months). I haven't the foggiest what to do next apart from contact the DVLA and ask for a copy of the report which I couldn't do when I got home from work as I work normal hours and the DVLA helpline closes at half four!!! Any ideas anyone? Read more

There is a detailed and lengthy procedure to deal with your being disqualified on medical grounds. There are various appeals and checks built in and ultimately you can appeal the case and have it considered by the magistrate's court.

If your GP or doctor is concerned that a medical condition could inhibit your ability to drive they must report it to the DVLA....

I recently bought a 57 plate 320i coupe. The car had 26k miles on the clock and a full dealer history.

After about 2.5k to 3k miles of use, I started to notice some hesitation when accelerating. It's more noticeable when pulling out of roundabouts or acceleraing in a straight line. The car shudders and the rev counter is jerky. It's not severe just irritating.... Read more

Hi,

The problem I have is the immobileser light on my saxo has been flashing meaning the car won't start until the light goes out. I normally just have to take the key out of the ignition and put it back in and it evenually works. I've heard its a common fault on Citroens so I ordered a transponder aerial which is meant to solve the problem.

I've fitted the new aerial and it hasn't made a difference, does anyone know what else to try as I know if I take it back to Citroen I'll get stung in the pocket which I really want to aviod not that I can take it anywhere as the light permantly flickers now :-(

All and any advice would be great as I'm stumped and dreading a huge bill right now to fix a car that I want to sell in the next couple of months.

The E34 is the old one? You're probably talking about a reverse flush in that case. You do it if you're worried about bits of crud in there, but I'm not sure if there's much point. The way I remember it, you disconnect the bottom hose, open the heater water valve, make sure the themostat isn't stopping the flow, then connect a garden hose securely so that water can be forced up from the bottom of the radiator and emerge from the bottom of the engine, flowing the opposite way to normal.

I'd disconnect the top hose and reverse flush the radiator first as this is most likely to harbour flakes of rust and stuff and you don't want to force it into your engine....

Received delivery of a new car on a 3 year lease in November 2008. Since day one it had a creaking noise from the front near the windscreen. I mentioned this when it when for other warranty and the car has been taken to a body shop for welding to the bulk head?... Read more

I currently have problems with my vehicle whereby when I try to engage the gears, the clutch pedal falls to the floor with no pressure, and I am unable to engage the gears at all.

What might be causing this problem and how easy is it to repair. I am concerned it might be a large job. I also wonder if it is a common issue on this vehicle.... Read more

I recently advertised my car for sale on a couple of sites and got inundated with calls and emails from companies offering me interested buyers if I paid them £99 (cardata + vehicle media). Does anyone know if these guys are legitimate as I keep getting calls from smooth talking sales guys who say they have buyers lined up. Does anyone else have this problem or any advice? Should I avoid them as sounds too good to be true.... Read more

Sadly some years ago, I fell for this myself. Cost back then was more in the region of £75 and I realised how stupid I'd been once I'd given them my details. £75 and not a call, UNTIL, around 3 or 4 months later, when I received a call asking whether the car was still for sale. Bizarre, complete scam, and steer well clear.
