I currently have problems with my vehicle whereby when I try to engage the gears, the clutch pedal falls to the floor with no pressure, and I am unable to engage the gears at all.
What might be causing this problem and how easy is it to repair. I am concerned it might be a large job. I also wonder if it is a common issue on this vehicle.... Read more
I was `born` in the late 30`s to a Scandinavian - but came into my own during WW2 and the 1950 allowed me to expand.
I`m round twice over and doubly squeezed. I`m quite familiar to the automobile and indeed your jamjar could pass straight through me.... Read more

Yes - I know, but I'm not allowed to name it on this site.
You could e-mail me on cjcrawley(at)hotmail.com if you like.
I recently advertised my car for sale on a couple of sites and got inundated with calls and emails from companies offering me interested buyers if I paid them £99 (cardata + vehicle media). Does anyone know if these guys are legitimate as I keep getting calls from smooth talking sales guys who say they have buyers lined up. Does anyone else have this problem or any advice? Should I avoid them as sounds too good to be true.... Read more
Sadly some years ago, I fell for this myself. Cost back then was more in the region of £75 and I realised how stupid I'd been once I'd given them my details. £75 and not a call, UNTIL, around 3 or 4 months later, when I received a call asking whether the car was still for sale. Bizarre, complete scam, and steer well clear.

A license loser I reckon.
My friend has a porsche 924S which will not start on the key. The engine turns, battery ok, it will start by pushing or towing. as such it is a useless car. The original suppliers, porsche main dealers, have no solution. The control box has been returned for checking twice without result, and finally, it will start if a 944 box is installed but wont run properly. I am sure it is simple, if you know the answer Read more
this looks like getting to an answer. thanks
I know that this has been asked and answered before but I haven't been able to find it using the search. I have also searched HJ's DT column as I saw an answer only a few weeks ago - again no luck, so apologies for repetition.
Two problems :
(1) My son has recently received notice of a traffic violation whilst in the centre of Florence in a hire car last July. The fines he has been given is Euro 104. He doesn't remember being there and it isn't clear what exactly the fine is for. Does he have to pay ? Can he contest it ? What happens if he doesn't pay up ?
(2) Racing back from the south of France this Monday, on the last 100kms of a 1250km drive from Nice due to no airlines, I zoomed past a blue gendarmerie car on the motorway. I reckon realistically I was doing 155kph ie 25 over the 130 limit. The copper in the driver's seat was pointing a device at me as I passed. I suspect it was some type of radar gun or possibly a hand-held camera. Nothing flashed and the car didn't chase me and I wasn't stopped further up the road. If anyone with real local knowledge as opposed to guesswork could tell me whether I'm likely to receive a ticket in a few weeks' time and what the fine is likely to be, I'd be grateful. Wouldn't even have been driving if it hadn't been for volcanic ash - grrrrr. Read more
I would agree with the reply about France. After you were stopped did you go through a peage toll waypoint? If so were there police there? If there were and they did not stop you you have probably gotten away with it.
We were recently ran off the road by another driver, He was charged with dangerous driving and leaving the scene and being an idiot.
During the hit and run, we were forced by the impact, off the road and went part way into a field, the car left front wheel was destroyed after hitting the roadside curb and the right wing impact side, was dented from the impact and mad max like behaviour of the driver. We fitted the spar on the destroyed tyre, phoned the insurance company and limped to a garage of their choice.... Read more
If it covers your losses I would take it. If not, or if there was any any personal injury please come back with more details and I will advise further.
Hi, I visit the site every day without logging on. I've posted once in six months. I tried viewing the site last night, and was warned that it may harm my computer. I tried a couple of times (using bookmarks) and each time got the warning message.
I tried again tonight, (obviously) and managed to 'get through' without any sort of warning, although when (unusally) I logged on, I was asked to change my password. This done, the site crashed ! Twice !... Read more
I take it you have an anti-virus program?
Just fancied a change of nickname. Happened to change all my previous posts with new name.
