Hi, recently bought a Focus 56 from auction.
When starting it after a couple of seconds a yellow air bag light symbol appears on the dashboard.
What does it mean, is the airbag system no longer activated?
How can it be fixed?
Is it a fuse and if so how do I replace it?
Is it loose wiring and if so how can I fix it?
Is it a problem with the ECU and if so how can that be fixed?
Many thanks,
Jason. Read more
I dont mean just motor oil, will applying some good quality grease prevent cracking and splitting? Read more
I'll report back if there is any general interest.
659.
Please do so with a specific thread sometime if you would 659, there's still a good few of us prefer preventing to repairing.
It's not something i've concerned meself with before having mostly RWD's, but the pick up has independent front drive shafts and stripping those for boot replacement looks..interesting.
I have been with particular breakdown provider for a few years now. My car was recently written off :(. Despite being without a car now, they told me this morning that I still have to continue paying my monthly direct debits to them ( my policy ends in October 2010)
I can understand them wanting to continue receiving payments from me if it was the case of switching breakdown providers but surely if a car is written off, how on earth can they think this is correct?
Any advise welcome.
Many thanks - Tricia Read more
I've been in a similar situation twice when I bought a new car with its own cover.
On each occasion the breakdown service provider offered to suspend the policy for a year.
I'd paid in full and was offered the choice of a refund, but there was only a few months left, and by the time they'd deducted the admin fee I would have got about a tenner back.
Long discussion on BBC1 Breakfast this morning concerning alleged breaches of the rights of disabled people parking at supermarkets, in that they are being discriminated against by not being given extra time to do their shopping, ovr and above the 2 hours given to the n0n-disabled.
Bearing in mind that most supermarkets have contracted out their parking operations to "Private Companies" surely all tickets issed by these firms are unenforceable, to drivers disabled or not, as described in the full explanation in the "Topics" at the top of the Discussion Forum. This aspect/possibility was not mentioned by any of the people involved in the discussion on TV.
Any thoughts? Read more
Near me there's a retail park just a few hundred yards away from a cinema complex. The retail park use a private parking enforcement company which uses ANPR.
Now the cinema complex car park gets very full of an night so some people park in the retail park (which is mostly empty as only a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut are open past 8pm)
So a lot of those people who park in an empty car park when most of the shops are closed find they've got a 'parking charge notice' on their doormat a few days later.
It's not parking 'enforcement' - it's demanding money with menaces.
Hey guys,
the time has almost come for a new company car. Any suggestions on what to get? I don't really have any size requirements. The only thing I'm after is a bit of poke. Here are my restrictions:
diesel
under 20,000 miles
under 16k new
under 10k now
not a Renault!?!
2.0 or under
I don't do that many miles so not too bothered about MPG. I'm currently driving a seat Ibiza FR tdi.

What about an Astra sporthatch? 150bhp 1.9 diesel?
Drivers using a Birmingham city centre car park have had their language skills tested by a ticket dispenser which operates in German.
The machine gives instructions in English until the multi-storey Brunel Street car park becomes full - then it switches to German.
The council blamed a change in software in December, when the city was hosting its Frankfurt Christmas Market.

Barnes Wallace will sort it.
I hate it.
In pub with mates and his girlfriend etc and we start talking, one may talk about her driving lesson and I make conversation but carried away and before we know it we are talking about biting points or test tips.
Then people sort of say shut up. The girls then go off to get some drink and the person that says shut up suddenly starts talking about cars and what he wants next etc.
I kind of miss all that chat when it was just the lads, we could spend ours talking about what is faster round the top gear track a Fiesta or a Corsa etc.
Anybody else found this, a mate will tell you stop talking about cars but soon as he/she gets the chance never stops talking about cars them selves?
It only seems to happen in pubs. Read more

That's the bit I like most of all!
Picked up a ford ka (in a rush) and noticed that the heater dial only blew nice and hot or cold air on setting 4. But the dial which directs the air to your feet or screen felt stuck on window direction only
Previously the trader said that he had replaced the heater valve (off e -bay used £11).
I knocked him £50. Popped down to the local ford dealer and picked up a new heater resistor and wiring block as mine had been heat damaged.
Prior to fitting the new parts my wife did some driving in the car and complained that the heater on setting four was not blowing that hot just luke warm. I looked at it and it had cooled somewhat and also you can now turn the dial clockwise toward the feet setting but does not feed the air through. (suspected wife being ham fisted)
I fitted the new parts and I now have settings 1, 2 ,3 and 4 working with cold and warmth, but setting 4 is not as hot as it was previously or as you would expect. Its just not really getting that hot even when you put it at full turn. Its just an ambient heat really.
There is evidence of damage to the consol area, ie cracked plastic buttons for rear window and air con etc (which all still work).
Does anyone have any idea if it is the dials or a suspect cheap heater valve? Dont know where to start really? Read more
What is the batch number of the heater control valve? There are still loads of faulty rejected or returned stock floating around on ebay. When I bought a new heater control for my dads Fiesta (same part as the Ka) I had to do a bit of reseach in order to get a good one.
The central locking works fine with both the key fob and using the key in the door however when driving along the car locks and unlocks itself? when the doors are locked they all unlock when you open one from the inside.
I have read many posts on here with some of the doors locks working this seems to be caused by a faulty lock could this be the problem? Any ideas? Read more

Yes, while the light is on, the airbags and belt pre-tensioners won't work.
Could be anything. Ideally you need the fault code(s) read out, but to start with, take a look under both front seats to see if the wires going to the seats are firmly connected.
