I have taken the sony cd changer from my Mk 11 Mondeo to fit in my 03 TDCI EST according to the Ford manual the radio is cd autochanger enabled but has nowhere to plug in the ford interface lead, does anyone know if it is possible to modify or if there is any plug adaptors for fitting to the radio connectors? the radio does have an Auxilary button and there is an auxilary socket in the glovebox which would probably work the sound but would not control the cd changer.

would be grateful if anyone has overcome the problem or may have to buy ford 6000 auto changer model. Read more

Thanks elekie&a/c doctor
I have been looking at the Sony CD132-CD6 from a Mk3 2007 and have come to the conclusion that this will be the best option, but you don't know unless you ask. even though mine is an 03 plate it is the later dash so the above should fit ok.

I have heard a great many folk who stay far away from supermarket petrol because they believe it is nowhere near as good as Shell or BP, etc. What do you guys think? Would I get better MPG with non-supermarket fuel?

I've had my car from new and 99% of the time it gets filled up at Sainsbury's or Morrisons. On my car the filler cap has BP branding on it, and on my friend's Rover 45 there is some Shell branding somewhere in the engine bay. But I've never taken notice of that sort of thing, I actually find it humorous because to me it just seems like the petrol companies paying the car manufacturers to get their logo in as many places as possible. As a newcomer to bikes I have a problem with a year 2000 Honda CG125. From cold it kicks in first time with choke fully on but will not tick over at all. If you let go of the revs it cuts out and then becomes very difficult to re-start the engine. If you have enough patience to keep it revving high for 10-15mins then it does actually tick over with choke off. This is a real pain. New spark plug and cap fitted made no difference. Any ideas are welcome. Read more

I'm guessing it's a similar carb to the ones I have on my 1985 CB125TDC.

Make sure you don't adjust the fuel/air mixture screw or you'll need to set that up again. Mind you, it's not too difficult to do. I have some instructions for the CB125 somewhere.

edit:- just found this via googling:

Not sure if your carb looks like the one in the handbook, but it *should* be a close match.

Hope this helps with the carb stripdown and set up?

To what degree does the ambient temperature affect tyre pressures, because when i checked mine last week with the dash display showing -1c they were all at 1.9 Bar when they should be 2.2 Bar which they had been a month earlier when the weather was milder ?
I duly inflated them back up to 2.2 Bar but the ride is now best described as "over firm", so i am now thinking that i should have left them as they were. Does freezing weather = lower tyre pressures or had mine just equally deflated ? Read more

just the same as with air which is mostly nitrogen anyway. Aircraft tyres are designed
to prevent explosion in this way which is why they are tested albeit very dangerously
at the factory to extreme limits.

The main reason for using nitrogen in a/c tyres is the one manatee mentioned ? predictable pressure vs. temperature behaviour without interference from water vapour. They have to set the pressures at departure so they'll be correct for the ambient temp and pressure at the destination airport for the more critical landing. If there's a brake fire that gets hot enough to pop the tyres' thermal fuses, it's good to have them filled with something inert though, as you say :-)

I think these special editions were basically bits of graphics stuck on the panels and different colour seats/trim, but nonetheless probably extremely hard to find one still in mint condition:

I am looking at possible buying a new car. I know the 1.6 CRDI is a Chain Cam but not sure about the 2.0. Can anyone tell me if the 2.0 CRDI is a Timing Chain or a Timing Belt?

Hi.
I got 2005 Ford Focus MK2 1.6 TDCI,98000 miles done.
Yesterday I checked the engine oil and it is 2 inches above recommended level. The oil service was done one week ago. It's been happening since I bought the car.At 88000 miles oi was also changed and oil level was also above recommended level.
When the engine is warm ,sometimes I get light blue smoke coming form the exhaust, but only if I take my foot off the accelerator. Then if I put the accelerator again, the smoke disapears. It is not happening every day.

1.Valve stem oil seals-NO-it is opposite situation.
2.Emission test done-OK.
3.Had it on the computer as well and nothing came up,except
a)P0234-unexcpected high boost pressure turbo during accelaration
b)P2459-diesel particulate filter regenaration frequency
4.Turbo has been changed at 80 thousand miles.I do not know why has been changed.
5.Injectors tested-OK.
6.No warning lights on the dashboard. Read more

dieselnut

You have 'b)P2459-diesel particulate filter regenaration frequency' fault code, so suggests the car is constantly trying to regenerate a possibly non existant DPF.
This is probably how the diesel fuel is finding its way into the sump.
At 2 inches above high, the oil must be getting dangerously diluted with diesel & engine may run away or get damaged by poor lubrication if left to go higher.
I would get the oil changed again & keep a close eye on the level until it is sorted.

Checked under the bonnet of my daughter's housemate's 02 reg Fiesta 1.25 today, before she set off back to Yorkshire. Couldn't budge the dipstick, but finally managed to yank it out at the third attempt using two hands. It was completely dry, not even a drop of oil on the tip. Put in one and a half litres of 5W30, which happended to be all I had in the garage, and just got the level up to the minimum mark! Left me wondering how far away her poor little Fiesta was from disaster. Any thoughts? Read more

Many, many years ago, a friend used to run a garage. Lady comes in with her car, the problem is obvious - smoke belching out from the exhaust. She couldn't understand what was wrong as she had only just topped the oil up.

She had no idea what a dipstick was and had put in a whole gallon of oil.
