Yesterday watching the news and the release of all the info that says where out of recession. An economist was saying all the things put in place, quantative easing, bank of England low interest rates, reduced VAT. Then he said the car scrappage scheme. In the next statement they talked about manufacturing and how the scrappage scheme had pushed these figures up.
I don't want to sound pontificating BR's but i and along with Mike Rutherford and many others have said it many times before. The motorists of this country contribute through the taxes they pay about £50 billion a year. Is it us motorists who now keep the country running through the taxes we pay. Read more

' normally comes once the car has warmed up '
Suspect it will be your heater matrix leaking slightly, this then evapourates when the heater gets hot giving the smell.
Try some Radseal or similar added to your radiator.
Hi,
My engine movement limiter is completely shot (HDi 90). The rubber block has almost completely disintegrated, allowing excessive movement. Prior to going to my local dealer for a new part, what does it break down to i.e. am I looking to get a new rubber block, or an upper level assembly?
Is there anywhere online that I can look at exploded diagrams to identify part numbers etc?
Likely cost for new part?
Thanks for your help,
Kevin. Read more
Try the 'french car forum' I'm sure someone on there will be able to tell you. Have you tried GSF they do most Peugeot/Citroen parts. Have a look on ebay, someone may have a picture.
I've a 94 fireblade, the one with the twin headlights, sat idle in a garage in england. I'm now in sweden most of the time, so not sure what to do with it.
It's all original, except I replaced the floppy indicators and stripped the flaking black off the original ally exhaust. There's a small ding in the tank, and the headers have a bit of surface rust on them. Apart from that, it's mint condition. Are they worth much these days?
Just trying to decide whether to flogg it in the uk, or bring it over here and re-register it. Read more
David Silver have the indicators in.
There is also this place (www.zsf-motorrad.de/) in Germany I used to source a fuse box cover for my wifes '96 CBR600. Not cheap though !
Your exhaust I would take to an alloy wheel refurbisher and have them do it. Get a quote at least.
Way back in around 1970 a mate of a mate - who I met occasionally had a desire for a brand new car. He earned very little and there was no way he could afford `regular` finance.
However, one day he turned up in a brand new Ford Escort.
The horror story is, that he had managed to find finance over 10yrs - but was paying back more than three times the cash price of the car. It might have been more - I seem to remember it was £10,000+.
He had it for many years - looking after it with a leather at the slightest sign of rain - but knowing little else in the way of care.
I then lost touch. Incidentally, his mother (he lived at home aged around 25) referred to him as a "non passed driver" - we assumed he had no insurance either and there was debate over whether we should turn him in - in case he hit any of us - although we never did.

I guess I should add a car to this thread to make up for the Citroën Hyperbole! My pick would be a Subaru Legacy, not the nicest interiors in the world but I love the cars.
The Volvo forums are fine, but somehow the backroom is a much calmer place to sit and chat!
Anyway, I have discovered a four way rocker switch on the back of the steering wheel at the right hand side. The manual is silent on this.
Any ideas what it's for?

When Vodafone did multiple SIMs there was no monthly cost. A bit of a pain to dial a number to tell the network which SIM to actually use at a given time though.
More out of interest this one: as I've heard on another forum that it's a common problem with tdci engines ?.
On the other forum several people mention they've had problems with leaky injectors which resulted in a repair bill of between £300 and £900.
Is it a common problem, i.e does every Fusion have or likely to have the same fault or is it a certain run (e.g 2005-2007 ?).
Is there anything that can be done to avoid it (i.e using injector cleaners such as redex etc), and how do you know you've got a problem & when to get the job done, like myself many probably have no idea where the injectors are.
Looking at this web site leaky injectors has'nt had a big press and it's not highlighted as a problem in the main Fusion review, whereas if it was a common problem I'd have expected to see a mention of leaky injectors.
Obviously having just bought a fusion I'm more than a little curious and I'm asking in this forum becuase it seems to be very popular and has some apparently knowledgable people ;-) Read more
Hi
I bought a new car before Christmas. I made the purchase based on the knowledge that i would be receving a lump sum of money in January. Unfortunately that fell through and i am now struggling to pay and the car costs me a fortune in fuel.
The arranagement in place is a credit agreement backed by a bill of sale, so is NOT a hire purchase arrangement. My understanding is that with this kind of arrangement, i actually own the car?
Because i did not receive the money i was expecting, i have been left with a number of debts that i need to clear, so i thought of selling the car and paying off my debts which would make it easier for me to pay the car finance company every month, so essentially it becomes a loan rather than car finance.
Im not sure of the legalities, but surely if i continue to pay the company as i would if i had the car that would be ok?
If i did sell the car and for some reason i had done something illegal, what would the implications be? I presume i would just have to pay the money back, which is what i would anyway?
Thanks

The short answer is that the Bill of Sale is designed to make your car security for the loan. If they've done it properly, the car isn't yours to sell.
As M.M. says, it's not typically the most favourable loan arrangements that are made this way and it's normally associated with sub-prime lending, high APRs, and punitive default charges.
It's possible they haven't set up the arrangement compliantly which might help you. You need to get advice, quickly. CAB would be a place to start.
I have only been driving since September and when I first got the car I was stalling at least once a day for the first week and then maybe once a week for the next month, but have not stalled it since, until today when pulling out into a main road.
Just made me wondered how often, if ever, you far more experienced guys and girls manage to stall...or whether it is just us beginners! :) Read more
About three years ago in my last manual.

Perhaps I should say that I'm sure, if they tried, the Gov could come up with schemes that would benefit this country more for the same outlay than this mess of a scheme...
