Hi guys
Can anyone help me out with my rights?
I ordered a Hyundai i30 under scrappage on 0% finance. It was a very good deal. Too good, in fact, as the dealership has just called saying they are withdrawing from it.
I paid £500 deposit, both they and I signed vehicle order form, etc.
This is the first time I've bought a new car and don't know my rights - do these things happen?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers please.
Have a 1.4 2004 TDCi Zetec fiesta. Recently is getting very hard to start. Will crank over but doesnt seem to catch. I can crank for 30 seconds then I think the diesel pump cuts out? No glow light is present when I turn the ignition on, wait then try.
Getting more difficult to start now.
When it does go if I drive a while its fine but also seems to happen more if I have moved it to outside my house and left it eg short journeys.
Have had a look on the web and there seems to be issues with glow plug and seals on these?
Any help would be great.
Many thanks. Read more

Good afternoon everyone. The central locking has evolved a mind of it's own and although the driver's door lock has been renewed the other three are quite unpredictable. Grand children are carried and advice is eagerly sought. Read more
focusman, a belated thank you for your reply, the site you recommended is very useful.
I get a light rattle when changing up from 2nd to 3rd or from 3rd to 5th. This is only noticeable when the revs are above about 2500. Can anyone tell me what the cause is and how to cure it? Read more
Heard on the BBC breakfast this morning if you display more than one parking ticket you can be fined...refuse to pay the fine and you could face prison! apparently some commercial drivers leave loads of the things on the dash and the poor traffic wardens have to seek the right one out.
Also certain types of ticket must be stuck to the window, or....well you get the idea. Is there no end to this country tthinking up ways to get cash out of motorists? Read more
The US has lawless heavily ghettoised areas with massive gang-warfare problems, no amount of punishment will stop crime when that kind of culture becomes entrenched as (sadly) we are starting to find out as a direct consequence of abandoning stop and search here. Death row holds no fear to a person who does not expect to live beyond 30 in his 'hood anyway. In the US's "European" populated areas you'll find there is hardly any crime, people are kind and polite, crime is rare - much rarer than the UK.
I like my cars black, but shiny is optional as I never wash them.
Hi all, I need some advice about an engine failure in a Z4, the car is 7 years old, has done less than 20K and is used almost exclusively on short runs of less than 5 miles. It was last driven hard in October for just a few miles and has more or less pootled around gently since then.
The car has a FSH and last had an oil change (using Mobil 1) about 6 - 8 months ago, it hasn't been topped up since as it hasn't needed it.
During the very cold spell the car was started and left idling whilst the screens were scraped etc. during this idling the car began misfiring and the cabin filled with smoke. The car cut out and would then not turn at all, seized solid.
On removal of the head it appears that up to 3 cylinders had completely filled with engine oil. The dealership have literally stripped the engine down to it's component parts and say they can identify no problem and are completely confused as to how the cylinders could have filled with oil. They have stated that the engine appears immaculate inside and more or less as new.
As it stands at the moment the bill is over £2K to strip and rebuild the engine and there is no guarantee that the problem won't reoccur immediately. The best idea I could suggest is that the oil breather system has somehow become clogged, perhaps with something having frozen, and this has subsequently thawed out leaving no trace of the problem, but how would this fill a cylinder?
Theories please!!??

Just a brief update, the owner is very grateful for the comments here and is putting them to the BMW service manager tomorrow when he returns to work to see if this could be the cause.
Hi there i hope someone can help
I first went into my citroen main dealer so i could have a problem fixed, erg fault and anti pollution fault, my car was going into lets say (safe mode) it would still drive but it would have hardly any power as if the turbo was not working. they told me its the speed chip sensor so they replaced it, car was fine for 3 hours then the same problem happens, i lose power again, i take it back to citroen, they say its the diaphragm, so they replace that also, so now ive paid twice already.
I went in to get the car fixed so i can px for my new car, so on the way to picking up my new car my citroen coughs and dies, no power at all, will not start, nothing. so the aa come out and i tell him about the recnt repairs, so he had a look at it, he says " citroen have fitted the diaphragm the wrong way so no fuel can get through"
so i went back into citroen and they say the fuel pump has now gone but its nothing to do with the diaphragm they just fitted.
so i spoke to 5 other garages and they all agree with the aa guy that the part was fitted wrong and has caused the further problem
does this add up? There trying to charge me another £300 for a new fuel pump now which i think was broken due to the ill fitted diaphragm not letting fuel through. Ive never been into citroen and had my problem fixed, they think they have fixed one problem but just create another and then dont have the gutts to own up to it,
I hope someone can help or give me some advise on what to do, thanks for reading

over the cold snap my anti freeze froze, when it tawed out the car would not start, the engine turns and sounds like it wants to start but something is stopping this form happening. i took it to a mechanic and he tried everyting and has said that its an emmobiliser problem. the keys i have for the 306 is a copy. one would start the engine and the other key would unlock the doors manually. there is a sensor in the car located between the driver seat and passenger seat above our heads. so i know that the keys i have are not the origonal ones. ive gone back to the dealer where i bought it to see if they could get in contact with the previous owner to see if he still might have to origonal key but too no avail. ive done 116 miles since i bought her and now its looking like a car for scrap. please if any one can help me id be greatly appreciative as im about to give up hope and give her away. In reply to Bill Payer:
It does happen, and there have been cases posted on this forum.
In reply to Cheddar:
;-) The one definitive thing about legal views is that they are never definitive.
Even the Lords (now the "Supreme Court") can get overruled on some matters by the highest court of the land, that land of course being the EU.
Back to the OP:
Hyundai have a new scheme to replace the scrappage offers, and Hyundai HQ is keen to keep all its old and future customers sweet, so the OP may still get his deal.
The following is an extract from a real contract's T&C by company X:
1 If you cancel this contract otherwise than in circumstances permitted by this contract or fail to take delivery of, and make payment for, the vehicle at the agreed time, or if no time is agreed within 14 days of X giving written notice requiring you to take delivery, then:
(a) your deposit will be forfeited and you will be responsible to X for any loss of profit and other reasonable and foreseeable losses which we may suffer;
(b) X will be entitled to resell the vehicle to a third party without giving notice to you of its intention to resell.
2 If X is in breach of its contract to deliver the vehicle to you, you will likewise be entitled to seek recovery of your deposit and your reasonable and foreseeable losses which you have incurred as a result.
3 If X is unable to supply a vehicle for some reason which is beyond its reasonable control, then X may by notice in writing to you cancel this contract without penalty. Any deposit on the vehicle paid by you will be refunded in full. You will remain responsible under the contract.
4 If the contract is cancelled as a result of a breach of the contract by you or as a result of X being unable to supply the vehicle for a reason beyond its reasonable contract, then any agreement by X to take a vehicle in part exchange will also be cancelled, unless the part-exchange vehicle has already been sold by X, in which case the price obtained by the sale (less payments we have made to settle the outstanding finance on the vehicle), will be paid to you.
