Hello all
test driving my new laptop - lol.
re extended warranties. my mercedes s600 MB warranty expires in Aptil 2010 & jeep hemi goes in july.
had quotes from warrantydirect - 950 for merc & 1400 for jeep - their top fligh cover with franchised dealer reapirs for parts 7 labour quotes appear to be too good to be true. Especially when other warravty sites charge a lot more.
anyone tried WD?

>>AFAIK, this site allows you to name good garages. It is "naming and shaming" that is verboten.

So won't you please do your fellow backroomers/motorists a favour and tell us the name of this dealership?

Certainly - it is Stephen james of Enfield.

Ok so local dealer had the car in and run a diag on it, no fault shown and insist it should be ok, however its still happening at random. All they can do is plug in their computer and they won't change any parts until a fault is shown.

The dealer did not supply the car, I could travel to the supplying dealer if I have to, I have made them aware of the issue. Really frustrated they won't do any more, however I am going to contact them again on Monday.

Surely there is something they can do???

Hi, barely three weeks! It did it on the same day of collection but I throught the tax disc holder had fallen off at the time.

Hello all,

Happy Christmas!

GF's car keeps getting water in the offside front suspention top mount bolt hole. The nearside i've emptied a few times (tissues, cotton buds etc) and it seems to be fine. The offside one obviously has been doing this for ages (we've only had the car for ~2 months or so) and is very rusty.

I've tried putting tapeing a plastic cover over it to see if its running off the underside of the bonnet but that didn't work.

Thought about filling the hole with 3-in-1 oil, but don't want to lubricate the bolts loose! Could seal it with something - but suspect at some point suspention might need doing - cause of rust? ;-)

Any ideas? Do ford make a top-mount-cover for these?

Cheers all,

Hi, my 307 is 110bhp hdi version. the turbo failed in June without any warning lights and was replaced. I have since had a fuel tank harness and EGR valve done also. The problem is the turbo feels like it's cutting out sometimes, boost power goes although car is still driveable, just very slow. the same way it did when the turbo slowly disintegrated in the summer. at the moment it's just an odd time but am worried this will end in another new turbo. the outlet flow pipe seal appears to be coming off slowly and there is dirty oil collecting around the area. Any suggestions? I have spent over £3000 on this car in the last 6 months, not happy. Will the turbo be under a warranty is it is the problem? Read more

If you are getting full power sometimes it doesn't sound as if there is anything wrong with the turbo, probably an electrical fault.

Just gone to the car to start and it looked like a bomb site. Some scorat has knicked my sat nav. Because i have broken my elbow the car was probably unlocked.

I have reported it nd they are going to send a finger print team round but doubt they will show up.

On the plus side they left my routers in the boot :) Read more

I had a car stolen 3 weeks ago
i reported the crime when i got to work to the police but had to listen to a recorded message first asking if i was making a false claim
i then spoke to my newspaper to advise that it was a planned theft so could happen to someone else
i have had 3 different police officers telling me my crime is inportant to them
ive had an official letting asking if i need counselling
ive had my say in the paper
i havent seen any police officer in the flesh
they havent come down and given any advice about tightening up security
they havent found my car
i cant claim on insurance for it

My 2 sisters have just called in to see me. I live near to an hospital. They just witnessed an ambulance leaving the hospital proceeding down the road in an urban area. They couldnt believe they both saw the driver on a mobile phone. Read more

Model T-Spirit.
Can anyone help me determine (a) whether I do have heated rear view mirrors and (b) how to discover if they are operational? Yesterday they remained fogged up despite the rear screen heater being on and it was visibly working. If heated mirrors are fitted (to "some cars" as per the Owner's manual) then the rear view mirrors are heated when the rear screen heater element is switched on. Thank you. Read more

Hi Jcoventry--many thanks for your reply. I had a look at the link and it only (as far as I can see) makes reference to the electrically adjustable wing mirrors and it was the correct model. I shall see if I can get hold of the advertising brochure for that model. Many thanks for your time and trouble.

Hi there, my nissan micra accelerator pedal has recently started creaking quite noisily. Is this just old age, ;-), or will I need to get it to a mechanic?
Thanks all,

Hi all - it does sound like it's the mechanism, so I will try lubricating it - thanks very much for all your replies! :-)

Hi all,
I'm wondering whether anyone can confirm the correct fuse for the front wiper circuit (fuse 43) in a 2002 Fiat Punto. I've just had to change the fuse (it blew after accidentally running the wipers while the screen was solid with snow). The fitted fuse was 10A, the handbook says 30A.

Of course, if it should be 30A but was actually 10A, that would explain why it blew! On the other hand, the fuse has never been changed in 7 years, so it's obviously been fine with 10A all these years, and the lower rating may well have saved a problem elsewhere.

Thanks,

The handbook states a 30A for my wife's 04 plate 1.2 8v.
