Hi

I have no rear or front nearside lights working and think it must be the fuse rather than all the bulbs going at once.
However, the fuse layout would mean a load of those have gone at once too!

Any chance there is a relay switch or something that may be the problem?

Need to know quite urgently pls.

thanks

I would suggest checking fuse #38 a 5amp orange colour.

Yep I concur. (Just looked in an 05 handbook.)

If the replacement fuse blows, then you'll need to investigate further.

Hi fellow HDI fans. I had the engine management light show a few weeks ago with a fast idle symptom. Guessed it would be the accelerator cable position sensor so removed the plug from the unit and cleaned it up, nipped down the road to my local garage who has a diagnostic system. This confirmed my thoughts with error messages relating to intermittent accelerator sensor problems listed in the ECU (sorry didn't note the code nos). The ECU was reset through the diagnostic system and the issue disappeared - all fine and dandy apart from the fee that is.
Today the engine management light was on again, but nothing irregular about the idle speed or anything else come to that - the car runs normally in all respects.
So the question is do I have to pay up to get the code read again with the likelihood that it is the same problem rearing its head again or is there a way to reset the ECU on this motor without the diagnostic box of tricks?
I think I might buy a new position sensor anyway. Read more

Just another piece of useful info for any HDi fans out there - I've realised that the engine always starts up first time since correcting the dodgy connection described previously. It used to frequently refuse to start at the first turn of the key - plenty of spin but no firing. Then after turning off and trying again it would always start - I guess it was like any computer which is turned off incorrectly ie with the throttle sensor giving duff info to the ECU. So the lesson is - if you've got symptoms such as these on your HDi then do check for dodgy wiring from the throttle sensor to the ECU. Happy motoring.

I basically like this car, but have had nothing but fault lights since I got it. Now comng up to MOT...

Any advice would be much appreciated and might save my sanity!

1) ABS

ABS light comes on sometimes in journey (sometimes goes out again) sometime does not go off at startup sometimes fine for two days in a row. ABS seems to work fine though! Garage said it was the ABS ECU. Had this changed for a tested second-hand one - still just the same. Also checked over/ cleaned the big plug to the ABS ECU. Looks fine, no corrosion or dodgy wires.

2) Engine light (not spanner)

Comes on about once a week and when it does the air con seems to 'warm up' - still works but not very well (normally very good). I have a memoscan fault code reader, it sees there is a fault but I get the code NA (not available?). The reader can reset the fault light and then everythng is fine.

I found a tip that if you turn on the ignition (not start the engine!) with brake and accelerator both down you get a flashing readout on the fault light which I do. I think it reads 10, 1, 1, 5, 1 but I have no idea if this means anything or how to interpret it.

From a purely theoretical point of view, it would be possible for the ECU to check
1. the continuity of each of the modulator coils (easy)
2 the magnetic characteristics of each modulator coil, ie how does the inductance change when the coil is enegised sufficiently to operate the valve cf the inductance at very low current.

I do not know if it is smart enough to actually do this, but certainly a possibility.

Friends clio has a none functioning fuel gauge, it was on empty this morning so she put some fuel in but it was still showing as empty and the warning light is on. I've had a good look round and there is no signs of any leaks etc.

I suspect this is an electrical problem from the fuel gauge sender to the digital display on the dash is this a common problem with the Clio and is it a CANBUS system? Read more

Has anyone used them before and what are their prices like compared to motor factors? Just had a quick check for some 5w30 oil and its about £3 cheaper (£15.60 v £12.70) but you have to spend £50+ to get free delivery. Read more

I've had dealings with them and have found that if they're cheaper than elsewhere for certain parts its because the parts are of questionable quality. Mk1 Punto rear shockers were £18 each from them compared to £30 from everywhere else, but both started leaking after 3 months. Shan't be bothering with them again. Rather pay a little bit more for quality parts from my local independent parts place.

I think some of us are using these devices.

My transponder arrived a few days ago and I am jolly excited. I have been prohibited from fitting it yet, but as soon as she turns her back ...

Anyway, any hints/tips/cautionary tales?

If not, I'll report back on my return mid-August.

Where does that come from? A wine can be lightly corked and you won't be able to identify that until and unless you taste it, I'd have thought. A heavily corked wine will be picked up by a decent sommellier or waiter as the bottle is opened.

So swirling the wine around and having a taste is not only ok, it's also sensible if you're paying a decent sum of money. If the sommellier or Nsar don't like it they can do the other thing. If I'm paying, I'll taste.

Hi, my comm2000 unit was playing up....i.e. lights coming on whenever they wanted, indicators working, then not, etc etc. so changed my unit for a secondhand one. Bear in mind that my car is the Dturbo with absolutely every damn extra you can think off. Anyway after changing comm2000 i got ESP fault. Changed back to my old unit and ESP fault had gone, so sent comm2000 unit back and asked for another one. Just fitted it today and guess what....get esp fault. Does this need calibrating? What sort of reader can this be done on? Is it a Peugeot dealer job?
Thanks

2000 X Scenic RXE 1.9 DCi
Hi folks, parked up on the drive on Friday night as normal, went out Sat morn to go to work, fired up trusty Scenic and it scared me to death!! The noise coming from the engine was truly horrible, sounds like someone has poured a bag of nails in the top. Normally it purrs gently even from cold, now it sounds like a really old transit van. What I'm confused about is that it was perfect the night before and immediately horrible the next day. I have driven it and it drives as normal, no missing or poor performance, just a really loud clattering. Has anyone got any ideas please??

ConcernedOwner

To cut a long story short, I didn't have the most favourable experience in purchasing my used vehicle (delay in collection, problems with updates etc). However, these things happen.

However, I had to call out BMW assist 4 days after getting the car due to a battery problem, and at this time I was notified of an issue with the car (don't really want to go into too much detail) that really should have been picked up before I bought it. I considered rejecting the car (and still am) although was happy to give the dealer the benefit of the doubt and try and sort out the problem as the vehicle ticked every box I had.

So, on Friday my car was collected and took back to the dealer. I was given a loan vehicle. I was called by the dealer first thing Monday morning saying 'as I know people like to be updated' to be advised they were looking into the issue, agreed with what I'd said, and would be giving it a further check over. 'Will call you back later today' and I clarified this, to which I was told 'oh yes, definitely today'. I had previously sent a letter saying do not do anything to the car without my authority (as advised by the finance company).

Suffice to say, I haven't been contacted. I'm not chasing them up at the moment, and will give them another day or so before I do. But I am seriously in danger of losing interest in a car I've just purchased. My collection was delayed a week due to a fault they found (and I only found out about it at 3pm the day before collection when I had to phone them). When I collected, I was left stood outside a train station for 1h 20m after the driver was sent to the wrong one (this isn't really an issue and is funny, but when I'd been up since 6, I wasn't best pleased). When I got to the dealership, I found out one issue hadn't been resolved, and I pretty much went off on one. However, I took the car. Since then, the central locking has seemingly packed in via the key (have read about this on the web, it does happen after a battery problem).

It will be at least Friday before I get my car back due to commitments - so in 2 weeks of ownership, I'll have had the car 1 week, the dealers the other.

What would you do? I'm tempted to say forget it, as I'm just too disappointed in it all (especially as its the first used car I've bought since 1998 - warning signals?). But am I cutting my nose off to spite my face - as the car has all that I want.

I'm not being unreasonable, but I also don't know what to do or how to play it. I want it sorting to MY satisfaction - and at the moment, I don't know what that is. Yes if all is sorted, I may be happy - but I want to take the very poor service further. Plus, as I say, I'm getting to a stage where I don't want the car. The dealer where at fault, there's no two ways about that.

Any thoughts? I've tried to be reasonable, as I really like the vehicle, but I'm pretty peed at the whole situation.
