I always have the sound turned down or fast-forward when the ads are on so SWMBO and I were debating who the guy is - or was before age got to him. We were still stumped when we turned up the sound but the best we could come up with was Paul Hogan...

i have taken the gearbox shroud, passenger shelf, and loosended the screws that hold the matrix with 4 screws. i can now see the heater.....

Hi all.
Well, like the title says, I'm looking for some ideas for my next car. I currently drive a Porsche 944, but it's a bit aged (1986, odd bits are temperamental) and requires quite a lot of maintenance, plus it doesn't have air con and the back seats are very small. I do however love the way it looks.
So, ideally, I'd like something that looks similar-ish (a bit unusual, a bit sexy), has aircon, ideally (but not essentially) has four practical seats, is newer / less maintenance hungry than my current car and costs less than say £6,000 (secondhand). The cost to equip my current car with aftermarket aircon would be higher than the value of the car, so that's a non starter. I'd considered a Porsche 944 S2 (more recent version, has aircon) but am still slightly concerned about age (most recent version available is H reg I think), reliability and servicing costs. Also considered a Seat Leon of some form, but doesn't really qualify as sexy / unusual enough. Also considered some form of BMW 3 or 5 series, and apart from a bit of a poor "sales rep" image, this is probably top contender at the moment. (I like the slightly older models with the boot spoiler, not the new shapes, and this also helps with prices).
Basically, does anyone have any suggestions for anything else I could consider? Some form of Audi...? Any input to help my vague ramblings much appreciated...
Thanks,

Hi, I've narrowed my choice of new car to a Passat but I am unsure of whether to go for a 2.0 140 diesel or 170 - it will be a PD as I can't quite stretch to the CR version and probably on a 06/07 plate. I've test driven the 140 in the Sport guise but have not tested the 170 and there are no cars local to me to try one out. Can anyone who has experience of this car or both give me some insight as to whether the 170 is worth spending the extra money and the slight downturn in economy for extra performance (if indeed there is a noticeable difference)? Or is it better to try and find the extra cash and go for the CR variant. My driving consists of mainly a 10-15 min commute to work in the week with longer journeys on A roads at the weekends.
Many thanks. Read more
My 140 and 170 were virtually the same mpg wise. Up to 40ish round town, mid forties on a motorway run, best was mid fifites.
If the 140 had the 170 piezo injectors it would improve the refinement of the engine, this is the main reason why I went for the 170 second time round.
since washing the car last week, this error has been coming up intermittently.
I have replaced both side lamps and they are working fine.
why is the error still appearing. I can see no damp in the actual head lamp
Could it me damp on some electrics leading into the head lamp unit? iF its damp will it just dry out

The ones I 'm curious about are:
Focus mk1, mk2 - best balance of ride and handling, good diesels (agree)
BMW 3 series/5 series - best balance of ride, handling and performance, good diesels (agree)
Golf mk5 - best overall hatchback (disagree), good diesels (disagree)
Maserati quattroporte - M5 rival (disagree)
Skoda Octavia - build quality and value (agree)
Mercedes - diesels highly rated but some posts mention about poor build and injector problems
Focus ST - over-rated?
Which cars have been the most over and under rated?

But that's the point isn't it.
Small cars are not sexy. None of them. The Mito is cute, nothing more.
Small cars are for misers -- trying to tart one up is like putting Alan Sugar in a dress -- not something I'd want outside my house.
Having read all the troubles about DPF's and all, I've decided to change the oil and filter myself after 6000 miles between dealer services. I gather that somehow I need to tell the computer the oil and filter have been changed.
Is there a way I can do this, has anyone else experience of this? I'm guessing there must be a way to do it, I certainly couldn't afford the luxury of additional main delaer oil changes :-)
Hopefully someone can help
Many thanks in advance for looking Read more
the only way to reset the oil degredation/ level meter is to plug in the mazda computer. you shuld only need to reset at 12000 miles so long as the dexelia spec oil is used hope this helps
.... should you clean the wipers as well?
