None of the Ford 1.8 TDCi engines have a DPF.

Hi guys, 2 weeks ago my wife bought a 2004 ford streetka winter edition, since then it has had a few problems and needed a new thermostat, heater control valve and O2 sensor, however the car still seems to be running hot. By that i mean from a cold start she is able to use the heater on full heat within a minute, the engine is getting hot really fast and the electric fan is cutting in and out after only a 15 minute run and waiting at traffic lights, also when she gets home and turns the car off you can hear gurgling and bubbling from the water pipes around the engine which doesnt seem to be getting any better ( thought this system should self bleed ?
Thermostat is working well.
Heater is working too, hot and cold on demand ( although is does seem to get hot way too fast in my opinion )
I can smell hot coolant in and out of the car but given the fact that the heater control valve disintigrated a week ago and sprayed all the coolant over the engine im not too suprised. Since the repair it hasnt leaked any coolant and the levels have been constant.
Gonna flush the cooling system this week to see if that helps.
If anyone can shed any light on this or offer an opinion i would be very grateful.

Thanks

Cheers Paul for the advice, checked everything mate and it was all ok, dealer told me it was an alarm system failure and would need replacing but at £220 + filling and vat, they said they had seen quite a few streetka's with alarm failure ( common fault ) and advised me to have it removed and think about aftermarket security if i needed it. To be honest the company the wife works for have a secure car park and at home it is always blocked in on my drive by my A4 so i had the factory system removed.

Thanks
Rich

Acetone (ie nail polish remover) is my staple product to remove pretty much any paint / oil / grease / pen mark etc.

I have a 1999 Ford Focus 1.8 (petrol) which has covered 81k miles since new.

Because of the age of the car I occasionally take the car into a reputable garage so that they can raise it up and look underneath for any signs of leaks. Anyway this week I took it in and they had a look underneath and said there was some wetness from the power steering rack but that I should just keep an eye on the level in the fluid reservoir and that it didn't need repairing immediately. I think he was saying that to repair it would require a new steering rack.

A few years ago the power steering fluid cooler had to be replaced because it had suffered a crack probably due to driving over a road which had loose chippings/stones.

What would you do ?

you can get a steering fluid addative to help seal small leaks .
it works by softening the seals which go hard with age and softening them gives a bit more life out of them .it works on fine on leaks like what you are describing

Hi, I am very new to this website and this post as well. As lady I am not very technical so I would appreaciate your patience with me.

My honda jazz 2003 model makes noise when I change gears between gear 1-3. No noise when I use gear 4. It has only done 44k miles.

The noise is so annoying, and very uncomfortable indeed that I want to either sell the car or repair it depending on which is cheaper option asap. Can anyone help please.

Thank you Read more

Does the car have a full Honda dealer service history? This is a known issue with Jazz and Honda are usually pretty good at paying a substantial part of the cost.

The price quotes seems very high - from memory this is a £1000 or so job in a Honda dealer and they should change all the bearings. Is the other quote for a re-conditioned gearbox, or one out of a crashed car?

I had an exhaust blockage in my Escort 1600 that turned out to be the rear silencer box breaking up internally, so that a wodge of glass fibre went into the tailpipe. It moved around though, so the fault was sporadic at first. When removed, the silencer box was swollen, but not burst, from excessive pressure.

I would agree by the way that a strange engine noise at high throttle openings was one of the symptoms. Fuel thirst was another.

My brother in law is at this very moment driving from Cheshire to Durham. Tomorrow, he has an appointment at the passport office.

If he manages to sort out his problem he will then drive straight to Plymouth where my sister in law and the kids are in their caravan which has been parked on a site there since yesterday.

Yesterday, they drove from Cheshire with the van in tow to catch a ferry to France last night for their holiday. They were turned back at the port. Neither adult had noticed that the kid's passports have expired. The only passport office with an available appointment was Durham and then only for tomorrow AM. He has had to leave them in Plymouth, drive back to his house in Cheshire for some docs, go on up to Durham and will stay in a hotel tonight.

He/she/they are not happy bunnies. Lot of blame going on.

To those who are off on hols in the next few weeks...be warned....

It's not funny.....no really it's not........terrible actually....shame.....

My Skoda Diesel 90 Tdi Estate suffers with an engine management light problem,The car is the mark one.The eml comes on at various times.but seems to have the ability to clear itself, especially when the car has been stood overnight.
The effect seems to be that it shuts off the turbo, reducing power and acceleration.a friend has read the cars ecu when the light is on,he used a bosch ecu reader.
two faults are shown.4C69,a solenoid valve and 462D a booster valve.Unfortunately his system does not have information on how to correct the faults. However he can clear the faults which stay off for a short while.Has anyone any idea how to permanently sort these faults.any help would be appreciated. tony Read more

Cheers andy, problem appears to be sorted,The mechanics said that the valve was very gunged up.one of the flaps was pemanently open because of it,They used petrol to clean it out and a small screwdriver,to remove the harder deposits , regards tony.

Driving along at lunchtime, around a 90 degree corner with a house right on the inside of it, right by the pavement. You can't see what's coming until you get around the corner, in a 30MPH limit. The road is then straight for about 1/2 a mile. The 30MPH limit ends about 200 yards after the corner. Like this, I hope:

There was a SCamera van just inside the limit sign, camera pointing back towards the corner.

I stopped for a quick chat, being interested. Bear in mind that this was a big bright white transit-sized van, with highly visible markings, parked partly on the verge. The chap in there had "caught" quite a number of people, with the fastest clocked at 52MPH!

IMO the 52MPH person either didn't care about a speeding conviction, or should not have been on the road! Read more

isn't the idea to prevent accidents by being visible? then why hide them all the time, just over a hill, behind other vehicles, round bends, etc. in lincolnshire the idea is to make them pay, thats why they are out in the open countryside, not outside schools, or near accident spots. on bike nights they are out in force. on the way to the seaside with screeming kids in the car and mums and dads ranting at them instead of looking whats going on, young lads showing the girls what fools they are by driving agresively, tempers going up with the heat outside. not a camera in sight. Just the odd car hear or there would help if we could see it.
