I am sure all motorists plus the spoilt tourist industry of North Wales will be astounded that Our Favourite druid. The Chief Constable of North Wales has generously donated £3450 to purchase a special wooden chair for a poetry festival.
When I say donated, the money comes out of Police Funds. ie Tax Payers money.
Arrogance! It's not strong enough is it?
If anyone has the name and address of the Chair of the Police authority for North Wales I would be grateful and I will bombard him and the local MP

There are many reasons to reject a car - but here`s a chance for lateral thinking on why it would be done - based on the following.
Quiz inspiration
looking at dog adverts on the internet. A family dog was for sale because it had lost some of the hair off its snout - leaving a bald patch.
Yes. This canine friend, no doubt loyal and faithful and believing itself to be safe in it`s `pack` was now about to be sold on as it was no longer aesthetically pleasing.
It`s difficult to `get your head` away from the dog - and some would say `shallowness` of it`s owners, but personality is driving that.
Here`s the Quiz then - no winners or losers or right or wrong. Lateral thinking on
the same personality attributes.. How would they possibly be expressed in
1) Ownership and choice of a car
2) Selling a car
3)motoring on the roads Read more
I spent most of my life drinking scrump (scratch, screech, cripple, whatever) and I don't remember ever having a bad pint. ;-)
Incidentally, there's a little restaurant around the corner from the ferry terminal in Ouistreham (Caen), called Le Coin du Port, that sells the nearest thing to Somerset scrump I've ever tasted in France. It costs about an euro a litre and when you ask for it the owner tries to talk you out of drinking it. Just like a Somerset pub...
Found an oily (clear, light, brown) substance to be leaking from my girlfriends car the other day - 1.0l Nissan Micra, 93 i think (L reg).
Had an inspection under car, and could see it pouring from what we now believe to be the gear box.
We came to this conclusion because the following morning, we tried to drive to a garage to get repaired, goit 200 yards from home to a junction, changed gears and absolutely nothing happened, revved as if we were in neutral and slamming my foot on accelorater.
I think this is going to be quite a major job, and just hoping someone could maybe advise on what may have caused this, and is it likely to be a cheap fix, or is it worth saying to goodbye to this otherwise very reliable (but old) little motor?
Any advice help would be greatly appreciated.

eventually had to get this towed into a local garage.
Turns out that the O/S/F driveshaft had made a break for freedom.
Ending up costing £260, but included towing, gear oil, cleaning up clutch.
Car driving very well once again
Thanks for all help/advice/suggestions

a reasoned post jbif....and one I mostly agree with...however Fullchat is correct, it severely inconveniences them, ruins their 'street cred', 'disses' them or whatever... who cares...don't pay for insurance, walk home...fine by me
Hi people,
I've recently been told I need a new crankshaft sensor. My car won't start due to no spark and I've tried replacing both the coil pack and ignition module, to no avail. So apparently the only other thing it's likely to be is the crankshaft sensor. I have a 1996 (Mark 3), 1.1l Ford Fiesta.
Can anybody please tell me where this is and how to remove/replace it? Which tools am I likely to need, and is it difficult to do?
Thanks in advance! Read more
Anybody?
I need to remove the fuel flap on my 406 estate. I've trawled through the 'Paynes' manual but there seems to be nothing telling me how to remove it. There is a hook shaped piece on it that has broken off and this is preventing it being 'flipped open when pulling the release cable. Anyone removed one of these? Also, It looks like its a two piece cover - inner and outer. Is that correct?
Thanks

I have seen a few Corsa D's lately with rust marks on the sills. 08-58 plates seem to be the most affected. I find this quite worrying for the owners if by a design fault they are rotting already. From what I can tell it seems to be coming from the outside inwards.
Anybody else noticed this? I would like to a pic but if I did the owner of the car would probably shoot me :p
If you're not sure what I mean have a look the next time you see a Corsa D. Read more
I find this quite worrying for the owners .........
If you worry about rust on other people's cars you're liable to end up worrying yourself into an early grave!
Coming back from the Ferrari Owners Club Concours event near Kettering today, SWMBO and I spied a convoy of two XJS's, an E-type and an XK (or whatever the one which looks like a DB-7 is) turning off the A43 towards Deene Park/Kirby Hall. Was the Jag Owners Club having a bash around there or was it a coincidence? Read more
Not Jag's I saw yesterday, but Subaru's.
I was driving Durham to Accrington via A1(M) and A59.
Long line heading south at 8:15am near Scotch corner/Leeming Bar.
Another line heading esat on A59 at 9am near Harrogate.
A few stragglers near Bolton Abbey. Looked impressive, but no idea where headed.
I have a lovely red ford mondeo, which i dearly love, but as of recent and on a recent holiday the engine kangaroos whilst going along. It mainly happens when driving at low revs. If i put my foot down it wont do it, but it does it at all speeds from stationary up to 70mph. Could anyone suggest what the problem could be? my thoughts were maybe dirty fuel, or the dm flywheel? Any help would be much appreciated. thanks

Policing also involves engaging with communities in positive ways. Anyway he's retired as of the 1st of July. As for the OP's original question on where the PA live in North Wales I'm sure if you Google it you'll find it. Motoring link is very tenuous - he wouldn't be allowed to spend hypothicated speeding fines in this way. In the absence of a motoring led discussion, this will be locked.
