Clarice

Hi, I have asked my question on a few other forums but still waiting for a reply ....zzzzzz.... so thought I would try my luck with another site... Any ideas on how to get more horse power from my lovely new red C1 ?
I am completely clueless when it comes to cars, I owned an Alfa Romeo 156 before this car so I am used to something with a little more grunt, but am loving my nippy new 107 and the fuel economy is fantastic !
Any advice would be very welcome.
Thanks !

How does anyone expect a C1 to have 'zip'?
It was built for economic ownership, but surely you looked at the numbers first, hp, acceleration etc.
I believe all after market parts to be an utter WOM and the better value is always buying a car fit for purpose in the first place.
Sell it now and get a proper car.

Hello all, first post for a while.

Here´s a good one for any of you into cross-European routes and routing.

We´re heading out from Frankfurt across France to Argenton-sur-Creuse, just north of Limoges.

I´m keen to stay on the German autobahn network as it´s free, and to avoid Paris which is where the TomTom seems to try to send me past.

I was thinking Saarbrucken-Metz-Troyes, round Orleans and down, or maybe comeinto FRance at Mulhouse, cut round Dijon, across to Avallon-Bourges and Chateauroux. Probably a bit longer, slower and cheaper.

Anyone got any bright ideas? Flying not an option (babies, bikes and surfboards on the roof).

Cheers all

ps obv. the babies aren´t on the roof too. Read more

How about this.

Use the Nationals from Besancon to Chalon-sur-Saone, then to Paray-le-Monial and Vichy. Cut across the top of Clermont-Ferrand via Riom and then head west into the Massif Central towards Limoges via Aubusson.

Your route just seems a bit flat and boring relative to what France has to offer.

Hope this helps. Bon Route!

engine warning light started to flash and the car cut out and wont star again Read more

Have you another key you can try? Total guess that the light is flashing because of an immobiliser related fault. Ultimately though it sounds like you need to have it hooked up to a diagnostic reader and have any fault codes read out.

iwas driving my focus 1.8 tdci diesel when the glow plugs flashed and it cut out got it going again drove about 50 miles same thing happend this time it wont start AA said it was fuel pressure fault and gave me the code s P0251 p1211 p2288 p2291 got mobile mechanic out to do a diagnostic check he said it was a main computer failure and would cost £450 to repair said his machinery is better than theAA am i being had over any suggestion`s

think throtle cable is sticking when put excellarater pedal down
any ideas where it could be sticking
also is it easy to change the oil on this car
for the automatic gearbox

The throttle cable has probably frayed somewhere in the casing, would advise changing it sooner rather than latter as could leave you stranded and a phone call to the RAC! plus its cheap to do.

Look under the car and you should see a nut on the sump, it'll either be on the flat or on the rear edge. Jack the car up on the opposite side to this and put wood or blocks under so that the car cannot fall. Undo the nut with a big tub to catch the oil in, remove the old filter and leave to drain for 15mins or so. Put a new oil filter in and replace the sump bolt. Fill with required amount of oil.

Hope this helps!

I see on this site great deals on new cars but to be honest they still seem very expensive to me.

OK I can see you can get reasonable priced Kia and Hyudia's but anything thats bigger than a small hatch or 1.2 to 1.6 and we still seem to have to pay a lot. Can anyone show me a family sized ( 4 adults with luggage ) 1.8 or 2.0 for under £12,000

There's a link to a new Honda accord which seems to me a fairly average car but you will have to pay nearly £20,000 for a new one?

Even the huge discounts on Jeeps will still set you back over £15,000

Seems to me that going out and buying a new car is still very expensive proposition.

In the past I have never paid more than £6000 for a car.

Does anyone now think it makes sense to buy new and if so why?

Thanks Read more

I don't think any cars are that expensive new, it's the value losses that make them expensive, but that varies hugely from class to class.

Small cars are outstanding value when running costs are looked at over a period of years.

Large cars are expensive due to the huge depreciation, which is due to a lack of demand on the secondhand market - where everybody wants a small car due to the "much cheaper" running costs. Scare-mongering eco-types and scalping chancellors don't help.

Two year old Mondeo (and above) sized cars are an absolute steal. A two-year old Aygo or Jazz is far less of a steal.

Being the cynic I am I found it a bit odd that the newly reopened High Level Bridge from Newcastle to Gateshead has been opened for buses and trains only.

The official line is that the bridge is no longer suitable for the weight of cars.

But buses and trains are nice and light? Surely a multi-carriage train will weigh more than the amount of cars the bridge could physcially hold? (its not a long bridge!)

I guess it fits in nicely with the councils anti-car policy but is there any scientific logic behind this? Goodness knows we can ill afford losing a crossing point with the engineered congestion around the Tyne bridge. Read more

Yes I'm sure Newcastle is like everywhere else in that 'no car/bus lane' means buses/taxis/vans/plod/tractors/bikes/horse & cart can use them but no cars!

Peugeot Diesel 1769 non Turbo. Looking at my split N/S Inner Driveshaft Boot it seems like a straight shaft removal and slip the boot over the Inner joint from the inboard end using the Draper expansion funnel. However the Haynes manual reckons to unpeen the joint cover etc. Mine doesn't look to have this peened over end fitting and the boot is held on by metal ty-locks. Any experience out there please. For the past week there have been some fairly disruptive road works at a cross roads near to where we live. Even over the Bank Holiday traffic has managed to flow quite well thanks to motorists giving way to each other. Today however there is a real Policeman controlling the traffic (a rare sight in itself). As a result there are massive tail backs and no doubt some very irate motorists. Why couldn't they just let it be? Read more
