Daughter's boyfriend's car has this light showing intermittently. I understand it's possible to short a couple of pins on the diagnostic socket to give an indication of where the fault is.
1. Where do I find the socket on a Corsa?
2. Would it give an indication of where the fault is?
Any help would be much appreciated please. Read more

Hi,
Audi are quoting £329 for a timing belt change on my A3. Should I bite the bullet and get this done at Audi or should I be able to get this significantly cheaper?
Best regards,

I'm pretty sure I snapped the hand-brake cable this morning. I pulled it on and heard a snap and sure enough now the lever just flaps around with no resistance.
How big a fix is this, what kind of financial hit am I looking at?
I can't get it sorted till next week but I still have to do the school run, there's no danger of lose cables trailing out of the back of the car or anything is there?
Cheers

Collected the car this evening.
If anyone is interested, this is what I paid in Warsaw (All prices include VAT)
4 disks came to £94
4 sets of pads £58
Entire hand-brake system £76
2 drop-links £20
2 track rod ends £28
2 ball joints £20
Tracking £28
Labour was £92 (15.5 hours - mental yeah?)
Total cost inc VAT was £416
They also checked all levels, pressures and lights and threw in a rear reg-plate bulb change FOC.
I'm well pleased, the car feels great, should sail through its MOT next month and best of all it's invoice day tomorrow so I'm going to spread the cost out between a couple of clients. Result.
Do front springs traditionally come in a set of 2?

Interesting thread. My car (Golf Mk4) has just failed MOT with a fractured rear spring and my (local, trusty) garage just replaced the one. No noticeable difference at all, but you've all got me thinking now...The one thing I struggle with is how I can have a fractured spring without that side "collapsing", my minds eye has the spring holding the car off the wheel, if you see what I mean - clearly an incorrect assumption!
I ve got a KA but no manual does anyone know or able to direct me to a website that does know what tyre pressures should be ?
Many thanks Read more
You can buy a manual/handbook via the Ford website. I've navigated this far for you. tinyurl.com/bs74xa
Hi - I have a P reg ford fiesta, the locks have gone on both doors but the boot lock and ignition is working ok!! (touch wood)
The drivers side went first and the other day the passenger side went so the only way I can get into my car is via the boot!!! Not a good look!!
I took it to a garage and they said that I need to get a new key and find out the keycode as it has an imobiliser, then once that has been done they can transfer the info onto a new lock - and a new lock pack being £30 and £50 for labour.... I am I being mugged off .. personally I cant see why they cant just get a new lock for the door - 2 separate keys is fine by me (ie one for ignition and one for doors)
I have also been told that it could be something as silly as a spring - is this also possible.
Another mechanic seems to think its 2 different locks issues with each door.
Passenger door - once its shut its locked - and the only way to open it is inside
Drivers door - once the door is locked with the key I can not unlock it with the key
the key is fairly worn down but as the key opens the boot surely, its not that I need a new key (even though its probably advisable as I only have a key)
any input would be fantastic!! Read more
YAY success!!!
new key solved half the prob - I have a fully functioning driver door!!! thats good enough for me at the moment
the passenger door is still not working but will get the new locks from ebay and get them fitted but my hubby and locksmith both seem to think its just a spring but dont no how to address that!! so any hints on that would be appreciated
What a fantastic site thanks for all your help!!!
My X Trail vibrates when accelerating above 40 mph. My local dealership have informed me that "all they can think of" is that the drive shafts are bent. There are no signs of damage and of course the warranty would not cover the work (which amounts to £1500). Any thoughts would be much appreciated as to whether this is an accurate diagnosis or whether the vibration could be caused by anything else. Nothing has happened to the vehicle since we bought it (May 08) that could have caused such damage. Read more
I have a similarly infuriating problem on my T30, 2002 model. Have you had any success in finding the solution? I have a tendancy to think yhat it is the drive shaft wear but it could be tyres. I think that it started after a tyre change but can't be certain. When it comes in i have the whole of the front end that shakes from side to side. Somedays it is quite normal but the more miles you do the more likely it is to kick in (heat) I also seem to think that it is when driving hard, accelerating, or after having decelerated & than re-accelerated. Somebody must have the solution somewhere!
Has anyone had the following problem and how have they resolved it. I have started to notice water ingressing into rear boot area of my Aygo. There is water staining to the rear seat too on rear seats behind drivers seat as a result too. I am unsure where the water is coming from, possibly rear lights or boot area. Any ideas? Thanks. Thanks for the suggestion. Update is that after taking my Aygo back to my Toyota dealer in total on four seperate occassions, they finally agreed to keep the car for 3 days and fitted a new boot seal, checked the light clusters and also added seals to both nearside and offside areas of vehicle from front to back of vehicle. It may have now fixed the problem. Time will tell! This was all just after the car had gone out of warranty so well done Toyota. That was why I went with the Aygo rather than the Citroen or Peugeot due to Toyota's customer service!

Hi people, hoping you can spread some light on the above, 2002 Laguna dci Estate, started knocking from front end last week, NEVER had any problems to date, always serviced regular and all work done - Mechanic next door has had a good look round and reckons it dosent sound mechanical, more like something loose or catching - dissapears at about 40+ mph - water, oil all fine and stills drives great. Any help or pointers greatly appreciated as I dont want to put kids in until ok - THANKS PEOPLE Read more
