dear honest john the engine management light keeps coming on intermittently and sometimes when it does the engine will only idle and will not rev after 30 seconds or so
the engine will pick up and the car will run perfectly for maybe 50 miles even though the engine management light stays on any suggestions as to the problem will be gratefully received
many thanks inanimate Read more
I am sure you have seen the new Norwich Union/Aviva ad with the likes of Bruce Willis and Alice Cooper banging on about their stage names. Goodness knows how much they were paid: shows that we are paying too much doesn't it LOL! Read more
Funny that - this evening I noticed that one of our insurers, Swiftcover, are using Iggy Pop in their current TV advert. Not sure if that will increase our premiums or not...
Hi
I have a Zafira B, 1.9 CDTI and recently, when I was going round a roundabout, I heard a mechanical type click. Anyway - did not think much of it until I realised that the car was not driving straight. Basically, if I let go of the steering wheel on a flat/stright road, the steering wheel instead of going to 12 oclock, its going to like 10/11 oclock and veering off to the right.
Anyway - took it into see if its wheel alignment, and even though was slightly out which they did, no change.
If I point the steering wheel straight, the car does drive in a straght line. Just done a 20minute drive on motorway and not done to any slope in the road.
I have had the car for like 6 months and got from a Network Q garage and is due for its 2nd year service in about 3 months.
Any ideas what the issue maybe and if covered under warranty?
Cheers
Scott

Is a cambelt change on a 1.4 AUD engine a DIY job or best to leave to a garage?
I've done them on the [simpler] AEX engine and it was easy but I think this version of the engine is twin cam and I guess more complicated.
If it needs special tools etc then I would not do it myself.

Oh - OK, apologies.
Was me - sorry. DD
Would someone please advise which sites give the most accurate car valuations?
I've tried What Car and Parkers for the same time and there is a big difference in variation - even taking in the lower than average mileage for the car in question.
Many thanks.

Pre reg Yaris 1.4d4d TR at Drive The Deal for £8995 on the road so with that in mind the AC deal is too dear. Good Luck with your purchase and enjoy.
I was wondering if anyone could help me please? I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee and need to remove the rear wiper as it has been vandalised, leaving a sharp jagged edge. It has been broken off leaving about 1 inch. I can't seem to find any sort of tab to release it? It's due an MOT soon and I'm worried it might fail due to the sharp edges. Any help much appreciated Read more
Try it on one of your front wipers so you will understand how the clip works. don't use and pry tool.
The other night some oik snapped the rear wiper off the car. As it's due for an MOT at the end of the month I wondered if it's a testable item? Couldn't find anything about rear wipers on the VOSA site. Any help much appreciated
Thanks

You could well have a flux capacitor fitted but it doesn't have to work. ;)
"what do you mean my flux capacitor has failed?... it was working next saturday"
I ordered a replacement air filter for my 2.0d Xtype and Halfords have given me the wrong one. I called them today and they say they will have to order the replacement in which could take a week. Local Jag dealer's parts department are not open at the weekends!
My question is can i use a Ford Mondeo 2.0 tdci air filter? Is it the same?
I havnt got the reciept from Halfords, otherwise id have got my money back and ordered one off the internet as their service seems a bit on the slow side. Read more
many thanks. went back to halfords but they had not got any in. ended up buying one off ebay for £10. halfords wanted £18!
Hi, I forgot to leave the logbook with the car last time it was serviced and since then the dealership has gone bust.
Anyone know if Subaru will stamp it if I send it to them?
I have the receipt.

Possibly nothing related to your problem but my mate had something similar, also accompanied by a misfire.
Codes were read, and, helpfully said "misfire on cylinder 2"
We took the engine top cover off and detached all the HT leads and cleaned out all the oil that had ended up in the plug holes (mate has a 156 2.0 twin spark, so 2 spark plugs/cylinder).
Thing drinks oil, my mate just gobs a load in every so often and often it all spills over and just under the top cover and straight into the plug holes for cyls 1 & 2.
One HT lead broke during cleaning so we bodged it with cable ties (you can't see the bodge due to the engine top cover :-) ) and things were a lot better afterwards.
He ended up getting a second-hand set of HT leads & coil packs off e-bay once some further diagnosis showed that the coil pack or lead on cyl 2 was failing. he now has 3 spare for when all the others go.
so don't overlook the simple.
cheers
