Hi i've got a 2002 clio expression and it doesnt have a cd player. I wanted to get one and have seen them on ebay but i read somewhere that although they look the same (i think its a standard renault model for clio/megane etc) but that sometimes depending on the age of the model it came out of the connection can be different. I dont wanna get one of ebay if its the wrong one?

Probably a bit late now as your message was posted in 2008 :)

but the CD Player on Renault Clio 2001-2004 all work regardless of whether it is a Expression, Authentique, Dynamique, Extreme model etc and also regardless of the engine sizes. The wiring on all the Different Renault Clio that goes into the CD/ Cassette player are the same, Generally speaking they have a black plug and a white plug and your aerial cable.

Make sure when you purchase CD Player off ebay it comes with the security code, because without the code you will have an additional expense in purchasing the code.

www.nationalcarspares.co.uk Have a Clio cd player listed.

Hi,

just got the C-Max back, after the stereo was replaced under warranty.

I've noticed that the 'advanced' menu has a bluetooth on/off toggle. But does
the unit actually have a bluetooth radio installed? I've tried pairing it from a Nokia 6300 handset, but the phone finds nothing.

Anyone ever tried this?

My daughters Saxo has the following problem: When a cold start is done, it fires up and runs OK, but after it has been idling or driven for a short while it coughs and splutters and runs really lumpy and throwing out black/grey smoke and sometimes cuts out. It seems as though it is being 'overchoked' just as an old car with a manual choke would have run with the choke fully out after starting it. If it is revved through this it improves and can then be driven OK until the next cold start. Does anybody have any ideas what would cause this and would a diagnostic show anything up. Is there any way of reading the fault codes without a diagnostic check. Is it possible that the mixture mapping could be corrupt at a certain coolant temperature and is giving it over enrichment?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

Far more likely that the coolant temp sensor has failed.

Measure it's resistance.

I have a ford focus 1999 and the key fob is playing up.

When i press the key all doors open apart from the passenger door and i have to unlock it manually when i enter the car. When locking the car by the button the passenger door refuses to lock thus the other door locks bouncing back open. To lock the car i have to press the interior passenger lock in and then press the button on the key to deadlock all doors.

If i use the key in the drivers door to lock the car the same thing happens, the passenger door refuses to lock, and the doors bounce back to open however if i lock the door by using the key in the passenger door all doors lock and it also opens all doors when unlocking.

I cant seem to hear any noise coming froom the passenger door either, can anyone help.

The most likely problem is a fault with the door locking/latch unit.I have just replaced one with the same fault.Part costs around £70.hth

Hi all.

Currently running an 03 Passat and need some advice. The cigarette socket runs on permanent live and I would like it to turn off with the ignition. I have a bluetooth speaker/handsfree kit plugged in and currently have to unplug/plug back in overnight to avoid battery drain. My previous cars did not have this problem since the sockets turned off! So the question is, how easy is it to change the wiring/feed? And if easy how would I go about it? OR in BR experience would the drain of such a device be so minimal that leaving it plugged in overnight would make no difference/be safe? Read more

I'm sure it would be fine to leave for say 24 hours, but you would need a multimeter that can measure amps to be sure.

Changing the cigar lighter to be switched is not easy on this car On some cars you can simply move a fuse.

If you need to do this, you would probably need to find a switched spare fuse position and unclip and move the wire/fuse-socket for the cigar lighter to the other position.

IIRC, the fuses are not with the main fuses behind the side panel, but they are over the brake pedal on an additional relay and fuse plate and require the removal of the knee/kick panel to get to. There is also a switched power point near here, which has several large red cables held on a stud with a nut. To power a device of mine situated in the glove compartment, I ran a wire from this to the glovebox and also an earth -ve and cut off the cigar plug and wired in permanently with solder and heat-shrink tubing.

Hi

Just seen this advert for a 2005 yaris. Should be priced at about £4600, according to Auto Trader.

Do you think it's genuine?

I tried the number and it dialled a strange tone.

Hi,

I wonder if you would be kind enough to give me some advice regarding the TPS on my 1999 Fiesta Zetec 1.4. A few weeks ago the car started suffering from eratic high idle speed (approx. 1500 rpm) when coasting in neutral and which stayed high until I came to a complete stop. I found the over-revving thread which you contributed to, checked my PSP switch and found a broken wire. Fixed that, reset ecu and hey presto problem solved... or is it?

The idle speed when stationary is now spot on at around 875 rpm however it still increases very slightly to around 1000 rpm or fractionally over when coasting out of gear. Is this normal for my car or could the TPS also be at fault? I measured the TPS wiper voltage with key on & engine off, it was 0.980 volts. This was with the TPS tightened against the screws anti-clockwise to give the lowest voltage. I took the TPS off and it dropped right down to 0.549 volts. You mentioned 0.8 volts as being the threshold for the ecu and mine is significantly above that, do you think I should fit a new TPS or drill out the bushes on the existing one to get the voltage down to 0.7 volts? On the other hand the problem has almost disappeared and I can easily live with the way it behaves now.

Many thanks

Rich

"it still increases very slightly to around 1000 rpm"

Mine also sometimes goes a little higher and takes a little time to stabilize low; guess it's normal.

The TPS should be 0.7V; but I had over-revving even with 0.7 because the voltage fluctuates a little and can go around 0.05V up; I would put it to 0.6 - 0.65. (I written 0.4 in that other thread; but it was in fact 0.6 because my instrument had a problem)

Hi

as per many people who own one of these cars i now have a problem with my HDI, it started yesterday with cutting out at random occasions with these cutting out occurances becoming more frequent. I have taken the car into a garage today and they have called me up to say the car has a fault code of P1112 - fuel rail pressure low?

It means nothing to me and they are saying it could be the high pressure pump not building enough pressure. I said when i left the car there is a funny bubbling sound coming from the fuel tank and they have assured me the intank?? fuel pump makes this sound when its not getting enough fuel? i said it had half a tank of fuel in it!. they said its something to do with the return pick up from the engine? the pick up is directly across from the return!?

Can someone point me in the right direction with this please!!!! i don't want to be lumbered with a huge bill for a high pressure pump if the car doesn't need one!

If an HDi filter blocks that quickly; then it wasn't clean pump diesel going through it - do you have anything to confess, my son?

Having managed to blister another tyre, I ended up going and buying two 215 50 R17 V Goodyear NCT5s. £102 each all in, which seemed to be reasonable from what I could find, and a helpful fitter who pretty much insisted he was going to swap things round so I had the two new ones on the back (which I wanted anyway).

After my cynicism about soul08, I suppose I'd better not say which Durham garage did it! Oh go on then, Tyre Serve on Renny's Lane.

Nope, as the tyre radius remains 17". The only things that will alter are side profile (marginally smaller), and the width (marginally wider).

Help!!
My girlfriend has a 2000 (W) 306 1.8 Meridian. I noticed that her brake lights aren't working. I've checked the bulbs and they all seem ok as her tail, reverse and fog lights are all working. I checked the fuse box and couldn't find a fuse relating to brake lights.

Any suggestions??

More likely a failed pedal switch.

Take the speaker out and prepare to give blood. [IIRC tea and biscuits are traditional.]
