Friend of wife and I has just had their Porsche Cayenne returned after repairs to accident damage. The cost is well in excess of £10K as it needed the chassis to be realigned, a new near side front passenger door, two new near side wheel and tyres and various minor scratches and dents removed. That also included the hire of an equivalent vehicle (Cayenne S) whilst theirs was off the road.
And the culprit? - A Ford KA
All because he wasn't looking when he pulled out of junction. The repairs were well over twice, (probably nearer three times) the value of his car. Wonder if he'll be welcomed back by his insurance company? Read more
If their answer is "go" then you can be certain that that person will be involved in a crash at some point.
Surely, their answer for amber will be "go faster" :)
Advice please. I need to get to an area of Bristol called Clifton, near the Clifton Bridge obviously, arriving about 10am! Sat Nav etc suggest going off the M5 at J 15, onto the M4, down the M32 and right thru the middle of Bristol. It appears to be possible to turn off the M5 at Junction 18 and go down the West bank of the river on the A4. Any thoughts or input from Bristol residents, or people with local knowledge, would be appreciated.

I've always managed to park outside the the Avon Gorge Hotel.
I took the filler cap off for the first time in ages yesterday due to a bit of a smell of burning oil I get through the heater, and noticed the oil is now a dark black colour and there seems to be a little bit of smoke coming out. Is a certain amount of smoke normal?
I haven't changed the oil for over 2 years, partly due to the fact I use the car as a runaround and have barely done 5,000 miles in it. There is a bit of a smell I get through the heater, but this might be down to an oil leak in the engine compartment (I can't remember the name of the part it is coming from, but I was told by an MOT testrer it is not dangerous and just to keep an eye on the oil level which hasn't gone down.)
It does not worry me too much driving around town, but I'm due to be doing some motorway driving so am a bit paranoid. Read more
In that case I think the cold weather must make things even worse. I often do short runs where I don't even get to put the choke in before I reach my destination. It's done 108,000 miles. Cheers for the advice, I'll get that done.
Please help me to identify this sensor (click link below),
The problem i'm having is the rubber pipes linking this sensor are blowing off, the sensor seems to be blocked or is this normal.
I,ve taken the part to a FORD dealer and none of the tech's know what it does or called.

Cn't find the jacking points on our "new" sorento. Its an 06 55 plate 2.5 diesel. THe manual says they should be labelled but I can't find any markings. THanks John
{The sticky messages at the top of the page say that you should put the year & engine details in the subject line, but I suspect you were too busy looking at the manual to have noticed!} Read more

Just as a point of interest,
there are a lot of cars in British waters today, as well as on our roads!
At this very moment, there are no less than 13 dedicated vehicle carrier ships around our coastline and in our ports, and this doesn?t include anything on ferries or general cargo boats.
In-bound there are 2 going to Sheerness, 2 to Southampton, 1 to Newcastle, 1 in Whitehaven, and 1 in a place called ?Gwalchmai? which I presume is wales! So it seems that the distribution area is fairly uniform over England.
Outbound, there is 1 going to each of these destinations: Santander, Zeebrugge, Bremmerhaven, Hamburg, Vigo, and Rotterdam.
Anybody like to speculate which makes are coming in and which makes are shipping out? Or is that too broad a question?
Billy

I don't know what's in the ships but if you happen to be out there then this might be useful:

Hi,
I've had starting problems when the weather has been cold, so I thought it best to change the Glow Plugs. The problem is that I've changed all 3 except the one nearest the clutch. It will not come out of the hole. It unscrews until most of the thread is showing, but will not come out even if I pull on it with pliers. I've screwed it back in for now.
Silly question, any ideas why it will not completely come out of the hole and what can I do?
Thanks

I'll ask tomorrow. Shame that these things can be forgotten, when they are paid to be done!
sounds like your shocks are gone when you accelrate hard your wheel spinning
and your wheels are bouncing up and down get them checked as you can damage
the transmission ie drive shafts and possible gear box
