Or they should be. staggered to find that the C4 uses the most expensive wipers in Halfords, £39.99 for a set...they're big but blimey they're pricey.
On the plus side, they were very easy to fit.
But on the negative side, at £40 a pop the easy to fit will probably turn into easy to nick for the local miscreants once they've worked out the value. Heck, would be tempted myself at that much!

Imagine you return to your car and found it has been vandalised. Maybe a smashed window or scratches. You notice a CCTV camera in the area. Can you get the footage covering the damage being done to the car? Or is it only available to the police?
The CCTV camera in question is run by the police or the local council and not from a private firm.
What happens if the cctv camera is run from a private firm/business etc Read more
Thanks for the info
Car went in for service a good while ago and ever since the windscreen washers take a couple of seconds to pump water through, which is quite annoying when trying to clear the screen of insect debris as this is spread everywhere. Immediately after the service the smell of the washer fluid was awful, I had to empty the reservoir and have filled up with Halfords double concentrate (which smells a bit better). Prior to the service the washers were fine, they were meant to be spray jets but have really become thin lines of water now.
Anyone got any ideas as to how I might rectify this and get the washer jets blasting like they used to?
Cheers

As ever, thanks for the responses!.
There was a slight kink in the pipe behind the triangular thingy near the bonnet hinge, jets working perfectly.

I hear all is not well with world in BMW-land. They are conducting a 'review' of dealerships early next year and apparantly dealers will have to re-apply for their franchise; around 5% are expected to be unsuccessful.. :-0
Things are not what they used to be it seems and profitability at some of glass palaces is not too good. I noticed that they've slipped into pre-reg'ing and some of the cars are pretty mediocre (1-series and X3 for example). Read more
But the 320D Touring which I thought very seriously about is (list price) £26 465
(SE) or £25 435 (ES) against the £17 862 of my new Golf 2.0TDI estate
equipment on the SE-trim Golf being somewhere between BMW's ES and SE.
Good point, in fact I couldn't see why the 3 series touring was over £2K more than the directly equivalent A4 Avant. Plus the fact that BMW have hacked everyone off with their stupid run-flat tyres.
Hi I am looking at buying a bmw 325ise. Its a 1992 plate. There is a sqeal coming from the water pump. There temperature is running ok at the moment but i am sure it wont get any better. Is it a big job changing this. Dont know much about bmw. Cheers. If Someone is good with these engines can they tell me roughly what needs to be done to change this as I prefer DIY than steep garage bills. Cheers. Read more
I changed my J 320i plastic impeller water pump to a metal one as the plastic ones can fail. I did not find the job too hard (with the help of Haynes) except for making the thin, wide jawed spanner required to remove the left-hand thread viscous fan coupling. I also fitted a new belt tensioner as the old one was on it's last legs.
Evening!
I posted on here not so long ago asking about opinions of the Alfa 147 GTA, and I am now in a position to actually buy the car. I have narrowed my choice down to 3 cars (unless anybody has any other gems to recommend?). I am currently driving a Fabia vRS but I no longer need the economy and i fancy a change. I don't however want to take a drop in performance. I need the practicality of a Med hatch as I am into surfing, camping and Mountain biking!
Ant tips, opinions or suggestions? Dont hold back!
Thanks in advance Read more
I have the 156 GTA, and it's bloomin' fantastic.
If you are a car enthusiast, you absolutely MUST own a car with that Alfa V6 in it at some point.
Yesterday Monty escaoped prosecutioon for speding on M9 - he was reported to have employed a well known "Cheshire Lawyer" who "specialises in Motoring Offences".
Today
The head of a police force's driving school is to face trial after being accused of speeding at 118mph on the M9 motorway near Falkirk. Insp Paul Gee, of Durham Constabulary, said he was carrying out a "risk assessment" for his force's advanced driving school, which trains officers.
He was in uniform and driving a marked car when clocked by a mobile camera.
At Falkirk Sheriff Court, Sheriff Charlie McNair set trial for 14 January next year.
At a technical hearing, defence solicitor Martin Morrow said Insp Gee, 48, of Heddon On The Wall, Northumberland, pleaded not guilty to the speeding offence.
Can anyone recommend a good lawyer for Insp Gee?

I don't think that whether he had his blues and twos on or not makes any difference. I've absolutely no objection to advanced police drivers undertaking whatever training is necessary to rid our roads of some of the idiots who occupy them.
My only wish is that rather than reduce the number of traffic cops on the roads, as has happened over the past five years or so, the number was dramatically increased.
Far more effective and worthwhile than just installing countless speed cameras purely for revenue gathering purposes.

What\'s for you won\'t pass you by
I've heard that car sales people are saying that this month is the quietest they've ever know it - literally nobody walking in the showrooms, phones dead etc.
I noticed I've yet to see a 57 reg car - usually there's one or two new reg cars around the village at every reg change.
Is this the same everywhere? Read more
O/a their complete intransigence I went into the Toyota dealers - they couldn't be more
helpful - brochure? Certainly sir. Would you like some paint samples to take home? Would
you like to take the cars home so that your wife can compare? Result -
I've bought a Toyota!
It really shouldn't be that difficult to provide the customer with simple things like brochures. Some times it feels like we are still in the 1970s when most of the 'workers' in this fine country couldn't give a pink fluffy dice about actually producing something to be proud of - too focused on getting paid huge amounts of money for doing nothing. Just my opinion you understand.
My wally of a son (ive calmed down slightly since) was showing off with his mates when i left him alone in the car for 5 mins today (he is 13!) and pushed in the electric wing mirror button too far. Its now got a hole in its place and im unsure how to get the panel off so i can put it back in place again. Its below the heating dials, ive had a feel around and tried to pull off the front but i dont want to split the plastic or indeed make the heating dials do the same thing. How do i get at it so to speak so i can push it back through the hole. I hope people understand what i mean. I tried to get at it from behind or underneath, underneath all i can do is pull out coin tray/ash tray so im at a loss. Any help needed or my son may have to stay in his room forever.

Well he 'says' he pushed it with his knee as he turned to speak to his mate, pink fluffy dice! Basically there is 3 buttons, big round one to change direction and 2 smaller ones under neath to choose left or right wing mirror. All of the buttons have disappeared and im left with one big hole and 2 smaller ones. I did try with tweezers originally but there is nothing to get hold of other than either side of the button and then with the tweezers it was impossible to pull it back through, ive now ended up not even being able to see the buttons as they pinged back further behind the panel. Oh well not worry, might ask my garage, it has to go in tomorrow anyway.
I have just received an advert. through the door for a "FUEL ECONOMISER & ENGINE PERFORMANCE ENHANCER", which will give me up to 25% more MPG, and more power. I don't think so. "Up to" clearly includes the figure 0 - possibly, the thought strikes me, this could be negative!

OT, but I'd happily pay for emails, say 1p each? That would fix it.

I often buy spares (such as bulbs) for my C4 and C3 when we go over to Calais- the Auchan hypermarket has aisles of spares for French cars- and cheaper than buying in the UK. Incidentally my front wipers caused problems when my C4 was only 2 weeks old- and the local Citroen dealer tried to sell me replacements- until I suggested that under the Sale of Goods Act wipers should last a lilttle more than 2 weeks! Free replacement was then provided.
