I was thumbing through a 'classic cars' magazine in Morrisons the other day, and noticed that a significant number of classified adverts referred to cars as 'she'. "She's in truly original condition"...... "Please give her another loving home" etc.............
What - if anything - does this say about (presumably male) owners who refer to their cars as though they (the cars) were women?
Do female owners refer to 'him' when talking about their form of transport? Do male owners?! Read more
Hello,
Buy car insurance through the Zurich website before end Sept and say you heard about them via confused.com (you can access via confused), might apply to other introducers, and you get £50 M&S voucher.
Wife's eCar renewal £190, Zurich quote £168 minus voucher = nett £118, saving £72.
We would try eCar again though, their online system is good, my car is with eCar and my bike is with eBike. Read more
Absolutely.
I'm not saying that Quidco works for everything/everybody,as I just used the Pru as an example, what I'm saying is that a lot of companies say that they will save you £100 (example) off the cost.Off the cost of what?
At least with a site like Quidco, you can actually see what your getting back,AFTER you've had your quote, and then decide if it is cheaper.
Seen this morning in quiet street in West End just north of Oxford Street.
What do they do? And given it was signed at the start of the street, I'd have taken the opportunity to turn left or right and avoid it. Wouldn't you?

Traffic is worse a) in the morning and
b) in the evening.
So why cause chaos to find this out?
Precise information on traffic flows, broken down by various social and economic parameters, is needed to plan future traffic policy that will cause maximum disruption to traffic at minimal cost to local government. Something as simple as changing the phasing of traffic lights can cause gridlock at will in a large town.
Seen on the motorway (A1(M)) the other day, a police car doing an indicated (on my speedo) 75, so about 70. Travelling the whole way with its red lights flashing. Why?

Me neither! Nor would I travel through town at 30 MPH and wonder why all the traffic was being courteous, look in a shop window and see the blues are still on. ;-)

Yes; these are nothing like the old diesels and they are frighteningly easy to catastrophically damage by fiddling.
With only around 2 gallons left; have you considered that the fuel gauge may be lying?

Its of little value really. Your car is ten years old, the seams are probably weaker than they were, there could be hidden corrosion, your car could have had accident damage repaired, your airbag might not work, etc etc
All in all it means that 10 years down the line, your 10 year old NCAP rating might not be the same!

Van parked near us, tax expired end of April. About a month ago sticker on van stating it was untaxed, expect a fine. Two weeks later van is clamped. Eaarly last week van had gone. Late last week van returns, but tax still says expiry end April 07. Get home tonight and van is clamped again! I thought you had to pay all back tax to get the vehicle back. Read more
I think Screwloose had the answer.
Or they should be. staggered to find that the C4 uses the most expensive wipers in Halfords, £39.99 for a set...they're big but blimey they're pricey.
On the plus side, they were very easy to fit.
But on the negative side, at £40 a pop the easy to fit will probably turn into easy to nick for the local miscreants once they've worked out the value. Heck, would be tempted myself at that much!

I often buy spares (such as bulbs) for my C4 and C3 when we go over to Calais- the Auchan hypermarket has aisles of spares for French cars- and cheaper than buying in the UK. Incidentally my front wipers caused problems when my C4 was only 2 weeks old- and the local Citroen dealer tried to sell me replacements- until I suggested that under the Sale of Goods Act wipers should last a lilttle more than 2 weeks! Free replacement was then provided.
Imagine you return to your car and found it has been vandalised. Maybe a smashed window or scratches. You notice a CCTV camera in the area. Can you get the footage covering the damage being done to the car? Or is it only available to the police?
The CCTV camera in question is run by the police or the local council and not from a private firm.
What happens if the cctv camera is run from a private firm/business etc Read more
Thanks for the info

It makes me cringe as well. A most annoying trait in some people.
(Thinks) I must go and see whether the 'she' (the washing machine) has finished the washing cycle!!!
