Its a well engineered (if hideously coloured) German classic. A statement if one was needed on why the British Car Industry failed. A very nice little motor apart from the colour. I'd by it for about 5k not much more.

Unfourtunatley not. All 2002's were made from metal that Fiat rejected and susbsequently morphed back to iron ore at an incredible rate.

A very nice little motor apart from the colour. I'd by it for about 5k not much more

Agree about the colour - shade of baby used nappy is not good, BUT due to the rust problem driveable 2002's are rare, very rare so its worth more than 5k

But at the end of the day, its not a 2002 turbo. I had one in my life for a very brief moment in time -
I think it turned me into the pervert I am,

It is going for loads more than it cost new. Looks good, they say it is on the original tyres so they'll need replacing. I wouldn't care for the colour or the price, to be honest.

That Toyota Crown estate is something from the past that I would rather forget about, it is very ugly. The only thing this might be good for is use on a 1970's television set. Who in their right mind would buy it otherwise?

Great find, Imagos.

Reminds me of the computers on the USS Enterprise in the first series of Star Trek. Lots of flashing lights and I bet lots of 'plinky plonky plinky' sound effects.

However built this car should be forced to (1) find a girlfriend (2) go on a date & collect her in this car.
Another ebay find! - component part
Regardless of how much it's worth now etc, I think the real tragedy is that somebody can own a car they love and 'cherish' but do only 6K in it. What's the point? I understand the satisfaction of owning something you like, but I do 6K in a 2months....wow.

In the mid '80's they were still in the doldrums with economy and emissions gear strangling performance. I think they have bucked their ideas up a bit in recent years. However a lazy big V8 from this era with max. 250bhp could be making 340 lb.ft. max. torque.

If you could get it on the trailer with the tac welds holding it together.

I sometimes wonder what kind of person can sit down and think of taking a metro, adding a 2.5 litre transit engine and making it RWD as a field runabout? They obviously don't cost it out and have a load of bits 'n bobs lying around the place.

True, if it wasn't for people we wouldn't have been to the moon (if we, as a race, ever have but that's another thread).

Get some decent pipework made and put the turbo in too, of course.

Even a knackered Transit would handle better than the thing in the picture. And is it just sitting on those ramps with the wheels placed on either side for verisimilitude?

ooops - I assumed it was 4x4, after reading your post I've realised that it is in fact a RWD, funny how it's listed in the 'good bits' section.

Because it's a one off it's going to be worth whatever anyone's willing to buy for it.

I've always liked the 505s (don't ask me why....). I love this one for the fact it is totally unique and it's worth the money to be able to drive something that you know no one else in the whole country has.

It's also worth it for the real love it or hate it attitude you're going to get from people (think of it like Marmite)

This looks great - I remember my dad had a 504 family estate and then a 505 saloon. Think the 504 was the first car he ever had with a radio / cassette, then the 505 came with a radio cassette with electronic pre-set buttons!!!!!!

However, when the seller emphasises the amount of receipts and the amount of spares available, it suggests to me that this car needs lots of ongoing attention!
