I need to know the new list price for an M reg BMW 318i SE - but i cant find it! Can anyone help?
The accountant will need it for P11d stuff (dont ask why this was on as a company car - its not anymore!). I usually use parkers for list prices, but that only goes back as far as R.
Anyone know a good place to look. I know its roughly 20k, but i dont think IR will be happy with roughly.

I have the 140bhp 2.4-litre, 5-cylinder engine in the V70 and whilst it runs well, I've heard that it is the same as the engine that pumps out 170bhp.
Does anyone know who, in Derbyshire, can tune the engine and release the extra 30bhp, which I understand will increase power & mpg (so, actually quite good for the environment).
Thanks.

the 2.4 is petrol.
the diesel is 2.5 (well 2.49 or something) the vag unit. although late 2001 might have been the D5
My fathers day treat was a visit to the Haynes Motor Museum. Having only recently moved to the area, this was my first visit and I'll be back for more.
They were doing "dream car rides" taking people for a drive out in a few of the exhibits for a reasonable sum. IIRC choice was as follows:
1929 Alfa
Jaguar Mk 8
Jaguar E Type V12 convertible
Ferrari BB
Dodge Viper
Mustang 2006 convertible
1965 Gordon Keeble
MGC
Sunbeam Tiger
Bentley Arnage
Caterham 7
Guess which two I chose!

I chose the Mustang, mainly ?cos it looked great and my daughters could come along for the ride. Agree that the 2006 is no classic (yet) but it shifted a lot quicker than my Mondeo!
I then chose the more sedate MK8 Jag. This was for nostalgic reasons. When I was a kid in the sixties, my grandparents ran an old MK9 so I could n't resist a ride in something similar. Driver said that the car had been given to the museum some 6 years ago and had only one owner (a lady) from new. It needed no work other than a polish.
My grandmother was a short lady and when they travelled to Scotland in their Mk9 Jag, she captured the journey on a cine camera. When the film was returned it consisted entirely of a view of the splendid dashboard with a tiny amount of sky above!
Hi, can anybody tell me where the ECU for the C5 suspension is located and how much for a replacement unit.
Moved from Discussion to tech....PU Read more
I stand corrected I have had 2 C5's and was always under the impression the suspension was covered for five years, not the case it seems.
As a neighbour and friend has advertised her car thus, would it make you more or less likely to buy a car that has only been driven by a lady from new ??
I know this particular model rarely goes on long journeys, work is about 1.5 miles away, and that journey is done 4 times a day.
It's a Silver grey Renault 16 convertible 16 V, Y reg with just 32k on the clock, very good condition

Oops, sorry Xileno - I was thinking 82 not 92.
Wherever did that 10 years go?
Why block the previous thread just because it was felt to be political?
Are the moderators here a little bit weak? Are they nervous about possibly being controversial?

Bit of an odd one here.
I have some ST owners' club members who go one about cold air feeds onto their induction cones to boost power. This reduces heat soak, apparently. I'm sure by the time the air has traveled through the induction manifold; the original temp reduction is lost.
I have on my Mondeo 200 a metal air cone. I would think this would be more susceptible to heat soak than the normal paper K&N type filters.
My question is, would a fine spray of cold water onto the cone damage the engine? Water injection has been looked into for years and considering that for every litre of fuel burned a litre of water is produced I'm not sure if it would cause any damage.
I've always understood that cold damp air is denser, thus better for engine output.

I wash my filter with a pressure washer every month. The metal mesh does the filtration work and I'm pretty sure there is no oiled element in it.
If I were to capitulate and buy a cold air "Dyson hose" feed, I'd not place it too low. As mentioned, this could suck up a phat puddle and cause no end of problems.
just bought a second hand ford finesse for the missus, who was really chuffed with it until when taking it out for a drive found that when she put her foot on the clutch say at traffic lights etc the engine was racing away like nobodies business, needless to say when i took it back to the garage they could not find anything wrong with it. Previous owner is my neighbour and she had similar problems, anyone know of a cure cheers

Easy one to fix,
Cheap way to fix is to remove the speed sensor multiplug on the g/box (Three pin type)
Proper way if a wiring re-work of the throttle position sensor (A Ford TSB Was issued for this complaint)
Anyone fancy one of these, Honda have a selection of 7 in BCA Nottingham 13 July.
They're all end of lease, I guess, 04 reg & 39-68k miles.
Rare chance to see so many together.
£5000 ish?????

Recent advert for Civic Type S highlighted the following features:

Sports (suspension)
6 Speed
Wide tyre
17" Alloy

Do they have battery problems?
Not a new problem, but what's anyone's suggestion on sorting out the area where the laquer has been attacked? I read in the Back Room that it's T-cut and a polish, is that the best remedy?
Many thanks for your help.
