The temp guage sender on my 1997 mondeo is caput. If I short the terminals the guage goes upto max, otherwise stays put.
Is the sender unit a main dealer or motor factor part does anyone know?

Hi
Does anyone know if the front ABS sensors on a 1999 TDI Ford Galaxy and VW Sharan are interchanable and are they handed as someone suggested in another posting.
I have been told by GSF that the Sharan unit will fit but they dont have a cross referances so I would like a second opinion please before I order it.
The Ford one is over £70 but the one from GSF is only £50. Big saving over Ford !!!!!
Thanks

Works both ways on these.I have just ordered an a/c pipe for a Sharan ;£150 from VW ,same pipe £100 from Ford.
Can I use this in my '93 Landcruiser 4.2D straight 6?
It's Ethylene glycol base, silicate free with Organic Acid Technology, but the Comma web site recommends the green one, which is ethylene glycol, nitrite, amine and phosphate free.
I've been running the Red for a few years, after a thorough flush, with no apparent problems, and would like to continue using it as it comes pre-mixed.

According to this weeks AutoExpress, the end of this year there will be a revised Ford Focus. External styling clues from new Mondeo make it bolder and better looking IMHO. And updates to the C-MAX will be used to adapt the interior.
I think this is the car the MkII Focus should have been if it ends up looking lijke the images in the magazine. Although the number plate reads Focus III.

"Yep, in saloon or 3 door form provided it has at least a 2.5 litre engine. :-)"
You mean 2.5 litre turbo! This is certainly how Focus Mk II should have looked. The original was a breath of fresh air (did not like inside though) but the latest is bland.
I am thinking of buying either an 02 reg, or thereabouts, Mazda 323 or Skoda Octavia in 1.6 petrol engine size. Would appreciate comments from anyone who has experienced either. I'm looking for a car that is nice to drive car, both around town and on 100 mile motorway journeys, that will cope with 2 adults, 2 teenagers and luggage. Read more
Movilogo - the main Mazda UK website has a good search facility for main dealer 323s, although you may have to travel a bit. Locally (South West) an 02 323 seems to be priced between 4k and 5.5k dependant on mileage and spec. Partly why I am looking at both the Skoda or 323 is that you can get decent examples at main dealers/franchises within this price range, plus their reputation for reliability. Also, as I would like a good family car without sizing up to a Mondeo/Passat or MPV.

Is it the panel illumination, or the display. I've changed a few bulbs in stereos, where the light shines through the LCD (liquid crystal display), however I've recently come across thin panel LCDs that have no light behind them, and so I presume the lighting is integral with the LCD unit.
Just had a new rear bumper fitted to my Subaru Outback, after a bump. I am told that the bumper was painted off the car and then fitted.
My secretary collected the car.
The ABS and Traction Control lights are illuminated permanently and the car seems to ABS brake when slowing from very low speed. What could the body shop people have done; or is it just coincidence?

Thanks - will take it back today.
Not strictly motoring but relevant. Since pedal power is yet to be heavily taxed, are there any restrictions on the size/weight of a pedal powered vehicle?
Just curious if there are any restrictions in place?
I was wondering how feasible it would be to transport my valeting kit in a trailer as the vast majority of my jobs are within 5 miles of home. Just a thought! Read more
I think you need to figure out what the bare minumum of gear will look like and what it will weigh. Pashley is a company that makes industrial bicycles and may have a model to suit you, though they are generally designed for indoor warehouse work. On the other hand there are plenty of frame builders who may consider building a bespoke tricycle with a load bay. Think hard about how you will keep the centre of balance low. It could be very unstable.
Something like this, which is electric assisted, may be what you're after:

This trailer might be better:

Saw lots of new Fiat Bravos on the fosse way north of Halford today, must be some sort launch event. What a lovely looking car! If you like the Grande Punto, the proportions of the Bravo are so much better. As Quentin has said in the past 'as pretty as a blank cheque'. Read more
Most likely a Press run for the Media to test them and write a column about them in such as A/express.
There is approx. 100 of them in Portbury waiting for the OK.
I've just had a letter from my insurers informing me that they have ceased issuing "any driver" policies and that mine will change to "owner only" at the next renewal unless I name other drivers. Are all insurers adopting this policy? (No pun intended!)

I fell out with CIS bigtime when they send me an invitation to take my
Merc insurance out with them for a really stupidly low amount. They had all my
details correct from when I'd asked them to quote originally yet when I called the
premium suddenly became hugely more expensive.
I've always found CIS to be completely open and above board. At one time all you had to do was obtain a copy of their prospectus and you could actually calculate the premium yourself. You merely worked out the appropriate number of points for each relevant factor and then totted them all up. You then looked in a table showing the net premium for the total number of points you'd calculated and the required voluntary excess. I've still got a copy of the prospectus for Jan 1994, but no doubt they've changed the system since then.
