The local MB dealer had booked a local hotel near my parents to show off the new C class. Had a good look around one, tried to get a drive, but they were booked out.
I'm afraid the new 'edgy' look just didn't do it for me - too many creases in unecessary places including the bonnet.
I did notice that the one with plenty of extras and priced up at about £33,000 had a very expensive panoramic roof which was leaking rainwater all over the cream leather rear seat - not a good advert. Read more
Geordie1. I am completely overwhelmed by your genuine kindness. Of course I would never put myself on you like that.
I just don't understand why the southern Irish don't fight the establishment more. I imagine that they would only tax people in some other way if they can't penalise the motorist. I know in the UK they have a lot of hidden tax. When I was living and working in East Devon for ten years, I remember the public refused to pay the higher prices for new cars and they got their cars from places like Holland. Then the prices in the UK were dropped; but a lot of free extras were removed from certain cars.I like Mercedes a lot; but I will have a broad enough mind to look at many cars.
Very many thanks!
Hi
I'm hoping that someone might be able to help with this problem - maybe if you are a Focus owner and have experienced this also. I have a 1999 V Reg Focus Estate 1.8 Zetec (43k) which drives very well but sometimes creaks from underneath especially when the car has travelled some distance. The noise is best described as a eeeaaaw sound coming from the front underside. Noticeable only at slow speeds when the car rides over bumps or on undulating surfaces which cause the car to wobble. Parking when this happens also seems to bring creaks from the steering! If you stop the car for a few minutes and restart the noise isn't there. My local garage said it was the power steering rack and track rod ends which they then replaced - but it didn't solve the problem. I have taken it back to them and they can't find anything else wrong.
Any suggestions gratefully received - many thanks. Read more
Thanks Guys - much appreciated - I'll check all these options out and hopefully solve the problem.

I have a 1999 Saxo and the HRW and the blowers have stopped working. I have heard about lots of problems with ignition wires so i have located the problem as being one of the red/ brown wires from the ignition switch. I have bridged the wires to test and the fans came on. I know i should not leave the wires bridged and wondered if anyone could tell me what to do.
Thank you

Sorry, obviously didn't make it clear - ignition switch is retained, but a relay is installed to take over the switching duty for the fan / HRW. Load is reduced to a few mA rather than the 20+ of the blower and HRW combined.

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....
Good afternoon,
I confess to being the newest of the "new boys" - just joined today.
I need a bit of advice that is currently having an adverse effect on my pectorals!!!
Among my cars, I have a Hyundai Coupe 2.7 V6 (03 plate) and the washer bottle is causing me grief. After a long hot run (I commute from Kent to Paris each week) the washer fluid (inserted by the Hyundai agent) seems to render down to a gel and gives off an odour reminiscent to the most dire case of flatulence that any camel has ever had!!
Can anyone recommend a deodoriser to stick in the washer bottle to prevent this pong?? I do not have this problem with my other cars (Isuzu Trooper Citation and MR2 Twin Turbo)
Look forward to your help. Read more
To the OP: If you are in France every week why not just pop into a supermarket and buy 5 litres of premixed washer fluid for about 4-5 euros?
I don't recall ever hearing of anyone having the sort of problem you have come across.
Can anyone help with lack of power on an N reg 300TDi Disco please. The turbo isn't giving any boost, but I do know that the turbo impeller is free to spin. Can't see any split pipes - could it be the EGR valve?
Thanks in advance

My son has a W reg V70, in very nice condition, recently serviced etc, the car has had a certificated LPG conversion.
He has had a problem with the management light coming on, he has taken it back to dealer who has been very helpful including paying Volvo dealer to change all manner of sensors etc, who blamed the LPG but when it went to a independant arbitrator they stated that the light came on when the LPG was turned off anway.
He had the car back for 3 days & light came on yet again....has anyone else had this problem and more to the point what was the solution?
Cheers

Helo again,
long delay as the probl;em has been coming & going, then as my son was thinking about handing the car back....he started having an occasional starting problem and experienced some intermittent slight loss of power...so took it back to the dealer.
Dealer (or someone linked to him ), said "that will be ignition or fuel problem, we will start with ignition...", took the eplugs out and found that they were the wrong ones (checked with Volvo an yes thay said that could be the problem)...solved, no more light!...dealer is now asking garage who did the pre-sales service what they ar egoing to do about the £1500 bill that has been run up !!!
Cheers

Currently drive 2004 Fiesta 1.25...it's a good little car but i have a few issues with it (particularly the ridiculous digital petrol gauge).
Situation is I will be off to Univeristy soon and wont be taking the car with me, so i'll be using the car much less. I would like to get something that is fun to drive for when I am home and has a bit of class to it. Also residuals are important as I would like to tie my money up in something that isnt going to sit at home for 3 years depreciating like a stone/fiesta. I dont mind something a bit older (but not too much) and with a few more miles (Fiesta has 32000) as I wont be putting that much on.
Budget Fiesta (£4500) + £2000ish.
Curreent thoughts would be 52/03 Mini One with some extra kit. Any further thoughts? Read more

Hi My wife has just called to say her 2003 scenic 1.9 dci is doing exactly what you describe. Oh joy, wife and child out in a car that won't start in the middle of the back of beyond!
