I dont know if this post should be here or in Technical matters. Please move if so.
Driving down the A2 the other day in rush hour a huge sheet of of plastic flew straight underneath my car. I look in my mirrow to see it hadnt come out the other side. I pulled on the hard shoulder a pulled this huge sheet of plastic off. When I got home I got under the car and got as much melted plastic off the exhaust as I could with a stanley knife.
The problem is that all of it wouldnt come off, a little is still stuck to the exhaust. Now whenever I go anywhere the smell of plastic starts.
Will this do any damage to the exhaust or should it just burn itself away in the end?
Thanks for any help.

I'd do whatever I could to get as much as possible off - you never know if it may give off toxic fumes; not nice if you're getting a lungful whilst sitting in a traffic queue/jam.

Happened to me and I just let it burn away. Think the smell was gone within abotu two months, it stayed for a suprisingly long time.
