The rubber T-piece that fits into the plenum chamber behind the mass air flow sensor is one of Ford's best selling parts. If your acceleration from a standing start is very 'jerky', get this checked out, as air is getting in where it shouldn't be and may be causing the problem, or at least contributing to it.

Jack Regan

Hi,

I have a new Ford Galaxy being delivered in a few days, which has the Ford 6006CD stereo system. I'm told that it has a "Portable Music Connection Socket", and wondered if anyone knows exactly what type of socket it has. I was thinking of getting an iPod Nano but want to confirm that I will be able to plug this in through the 6006CD.

Anyone any ideas ?

Cheers

I presume then that I'd just need a lead with an identical 3.5mm headphone jack
on each end ?

£200 pollution charge per day for older lorries, buses & coaches

just to update all the facts

Ken Livingstone, mayor of London says his London Low Emission Zone will come into force next year From 4 February 2008, trucks, including specialist vehicles over 12 tonnes will need to meet Euro 3 based emission standards. Trucks, motorhomes and other specialist vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will need to comply from 7 July next year and on October 2010 vans over 1.2 tonnes will be affected. In 2012 the basis of the emissions standard will shift to Euro 4. But from next February, the daily penalty for vehicles that dont meet the standards and get spotted in the LEZ by, amongst other things, automatic number plate recognition cameras, will be a£200.
Failure to pay means a £1,000 fine.

I have a peugeot 306 with central locking. It has the fob with the big button and the small button on it. The problem is if you lock the car with the key it instantly unlocks itself. This happens which ever side you try to lock. Any ideas what is causing this problem and how to fix it. Not sure what it will do with the fob because as luck would have it, this is broke too. I had this happen when a piece of cloth which was caught in the boot catch was preventing electrical contact. Removing the cloth brought the system back to normal.

As in "Bron Free of defects and silly faults" let's hope so. I love them dearly though. Thinking about dearly is a good word as well.

That time of year again - Breakdown Cover - Covered by a Large Insurance Co you get directly to and their premium for 2 cars was £120 (in round figures) including No call out discount for 8 years = 15%. so base premium is £143

Got a quote from the same company (flying a different Flag) @ £92.40 in a 25% New Policy Discount =£124 Gross- so the red telephone is more expensive than the Green Flag by £19.

I wrote re the renewal quote and was told that was their premium - so I am now insured for breakdown cover with the same company at the same level of cover and saved £28 but lost my No call out discount

New customers are preferred to those of 25 years standing.

When I last broke down in 1998 TWICE (MB C-Class- 100% Japanese since then) the Breakdown Service was excellent - their premiums are not in my opinion. Read more

my auto renewal came through recently. I must admit it was my fault for getting the date wrong - the money had left my bank before I started to shop around.

But it seems new customers get at least 20% - 25% discount with the largest breakdown firm in the UK. l recall last year asking the chap over the phone why don't I just cancel and get a new policy? He replied I could be entitled to upgrades and other benefits, as I was an established customer.

After 7 years and 3 callouts I've had zip.

The cancellation process is too much hassle though, so along with most poeple I will try and remember to do something next year.

Easy money for them I suppose.

I'm having a few problems getting my new Sony MEX-BT2500 car stereo to work in my N Reg Corsa. I fitted it all correctly, swapped the switched and continuous power supplies as was suggested on this forum. And everything was looking good.

The unit works perfectly if the ignition is on either 1 or 2 clicks, but as soon as I turn the key to 3 to start the engine, the unit turns off and bleeps to warn me that I've left the front panel in.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be very very thankful. Read more

Cheers, for the advice, the problem is with the ignition barrel, if I push the key down when the engine is running it fixes the problem.

Luckly my car still has 1 month warrenty left, so I'm hopeing that the garage I bought it from will fix the problem. Failing that I'll do it myself.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
