So its the end of the road for the cassette. Do we all remember compiling our favorite driving tape? Can anyone explain why some car companies still insist on placing radio cassette players in their base models. It must be costing them more to buy these than the standard cd player. Am I being cynical in assuming that this is merely there way of punishing you for buying the base model. In that case why not put in a 8 track cartidge player?
That would really show you. Come on Citreon explain yourself and where are you getting these players from, you must be having them specally made in a secret factory in the East.

You're right JH. Bought a nice little Teac Reference system for the living room, wired into my existing Mission speakers, the sound was pretty good. The speakers went upstairs to a simple little Sony microsystem and the sound from that has improved beyond belief from the bog standard speakers that came with it.

I managed to get myself 2 hours of offroad driving in a Jeep in West Harptree in Bristol.

Are there any other BR members that may be around on that day?

Have any of you managed to get a place in another part of the country?

Just a modern Jeep I'm afraid.

Still, it's free and it'll give my nephew, daughter and me some exitement!

It cost me £150 to do a 3 hour stint at a Land Rover Centre. This is 2 hours apparently and it's free!

My 03 espace 2.0t auto(petrol) seems to have a problem with the auto handbrake,it works as it should in the handbook manually and automatically, but when i insert the card and it checks systems it comes up on the dash AUTOMATIC HANDBRAKE FAULTY, also the service light and P warning light stays on permantley.
The other possible problem is what appears to be the fuel pump fixed to the underside of the fuel pump,a few minutes after the car is locked you can hear a noise, sounds like a pump, for about 2 seconds and then the fuel pump starts to tick like a clock and continues until the car is unlocked.
I have only had the car a few days, so do not not know if this is normal!! thanks for looking! Read more

Thanks for your reply. Firstly the service light also lights up with a warning light in my case the P warning light, so the service light is a service reminder and a warning light (according to handbook). The car was serviced 2K ago and has a FRSH.
On closer inspection what I thought was the fuel pump appears to be as you said, the hydraulic pump for the auto handbrake. I put the key card in and then removed it (auto handbrake on) locked the car, after one minute, there was a pumping sound for two seconds and then it started ticking. I then unlocked the car (ticking stopped) put the key card in the slot, then removed it (auto handbrake on) I then released the handbrake manually ( lift flap between front seats and pulled the yellow lever very hard), locked car and the pump did not tick. This therefore must be the problem? Is this a Renault main dealer/specialist/local garage/braking specialist job? Appreciate any advice.

2 classis car restorers found a wallet with ID stuck down the seat of a car they bought for restoring. It had been there since it slipped out of the pocket of an appropriately named Mr Goodlove whilst he was making out with a young lady in 1946. He is still alive and the wallet and contents are on way to him by post. Read more

Does anyone know what the strange structure currently being built by the side of the M5 is? This appears to the left of the southbound M5 just after junction 11a.

It looks like a load of sandbangs have been piled high and then loads and loads of clay have been added in between the 2 'walls' of sand bags to build a 'road' up high.

Most strange and it's puzzling me to what it is for. Anyone know? Read more

The M60 one in the post above IS a new indoors ski slope!

I'm assuming that when they've finished there will have filled in the gap underneath with cladding and facilities within.

Shame really, as that is a civil engineering masterpeice - it should be left for all to see!

Does anyone know what the sinister grey objects mounted on yellow wheeled "carriages" alongside the M11 and A1M are? They are placed on purpose built hard standings behind crash barriers off the hard shoulder. They are some 2m tall and 4m wide and resemble an array of
heavily built grey steel office cupboards.

I have a citroen saxo 1.1i. Its over revving and bunny hopping - sonetimes! When I'm waiting at traffic lights the engine revs itself a few times and then the revs stay high. It will also loose speed when it should be constant and then kicks back in again. I would love some ideas before I pay a fortune at the garage. The petrol filter has aleady been changed. Thanks.
