Hi,

The cigar lighter on the aforementioned car isn't working. I put in a 15amp mini blade fuse, however although all the rest of the blades are mini blades the gap for the cigar blade is bigger. I tried to put a standard fuse in but it just wouldn't go. It looks as if there is 3 holes for the fuse to go but i have never seen nor heard of a three bladed fuse. can any one help? Perhaps a normal size should fit but i cant seem to make it. When i do put a mini blade fuse in, it works for a day or two then blows, I am only trying to use a mobile phone charger through it, ideally if it works i would need to use a laptop charger through it as well. I tried to put a bigger amp mini fuse (20 amp) and it just blew straight away.
Any ideas or just confirm what sort of fuse i am meant to be using would be great.

Thanks
James

Hi,

I wnat to get to the back of the radio in my BMW to fit an IPOD connector. Any idea how the trim is removed that surrounds the radio.

Thanks Read more

No it is not the same process as in the E39.

How precise is that?

Seriously though, look at the link with photos I posted and you will see that the passanger dash trim needs to be removed to get to 4 retaining screws that hold the radio in place.

Can anyone please help. My Skoda is 7 years old and the power steering stopped working yesterday, the indicator light for the steering came on. There is no problem with the fluid, however the puzzling thing is that an hour after it stopped working and I limped the car home, it was fine and the light for the power steering has gone off, any ideas please. This car has never had a new battery.

I have had the same problem, although mine is a Fabia 1.9TDi.

This time last year, the power steering developed a fault just like the one detailed here. The sensor and pump were replaced under (extended) warranty. A couple of months ago, the same problem re-occurred. Again, both sensor and pump replaced under manufacturer's warranty.

However, the problem persists, although now the PS comes back on after a few minutes driving, usually when the car has come to a stop. Also, the outside temperature indicator now shows a very low figure (eg, minus 18 degrees), and the air conditioning does not work any more.

This is more than a coincidence, and seems rather wierd. Could all three (power steering, temperature sensor and air conditioning) be connected to the central computer? Could this be where the problem lies?

I have given all this information to my local main dealer, and they are (supposedly) in discussion with Skoda, but have not got back to me yet.

I hope someone can help. I am new to this board, and hope that I am not posting in the wrong place.

Has anybody come across this problem before? When I turn the ignition on, the wipers start up (even though they're turned off). They then sweep about 5 times before stopping where they choose - usually right in my line of vision. I then have to operate them a few times until they "park" in the correct position. They also sweep about 5 times when I press the "sweep once" lever. It's driving me nuts! Any help appreciated. Read more

I was just covering all the angles there; I've had them wipe the key codes when they reboot and without the pass card, he couldn't have called anyone in to re-adapt them. As to radios; who knows if it's been changed, or to what....

Everybody's Fool

I recently bought a Citroen C3, 2003, and all has been running fine. Went to top up the oil and on taking the cap off found that I couldn't. The reason being that underneath the cap, within the circumference below the cap, was a sort of up-side-down "T", which was quite chunky. I appreciate this is best described by picture, however I don?t have that option on this forum, though I can provide a photo if needed.

I do not want to run out of oil, particulary whilst driving, so all suggestions as to a way around this problem are greatly welcomed?

Thanks

You will have to pour the oil in very slowly or it will fill up and spill out over the engine. Use a funnel and put a little in each time before checking dipstick. Far easier that way than over-filling.

Hi Slack, at least Autodata got back to you, better service than a dealer eh!. Prehaps when a tyre change due it will improve. tyres are a big issue with noise these days but they are so big compared to 20years ago or more when we used to run around on almost bycicle tyres in comparison

Ok I've done a silly thing!
Been away for 8 weeks without disconnecting the battery. Car will not now deactivate alarm using remote fob - so I unlocked with the key and the alarm goes off! Put key in ignition and nothing happens when I turn it. Lock the door and think flat battery. Changed fob battery (2016/3volt) no change.
Open bonnet - OK. Disconnected car battery - and ALARM goes off!!
Manual states not to charge battery without disconnecting it so what do I do?
Its also up tight in garage, nose first so V difficult to jump start.

HELP please - Peugeot service are not open until Monday Read more

Problem solved!
Battery wouldn't charge - duff cell. Bought new battery this a.m. and after fitting it and resetting alarm all is OK.
Engine management OK, alarm OK, car drives OK.
Perhaps post '02 models are more robust?

Hi all. Can any one out there please give me advice on this. About 10 days ago my car (Daewoo matiz 1999 800cc) sprang a water hose leak, replaced new hose, topped up with antifreeze and water, which cured it. Now my heater blows just luke warm instead of hot. It was fine before the leak. I think i have an air lock in the system and believe that there is no air lock valve on this model to bleed it. Any ideas please. This topic was mentioned a while ago, but i cannot find it. Any help or advice please. Thanks, Graham.

Hi guys, Thanks so much for the replys. Today i decided to give it a 15 mile blast up the motorway, and it blew warm are out all the time, although blew a bit cooler when i came of the motorway. I am now wondering if the airlock is now clearing slowly ? What do you think ? should i leave it and see what happens ? Thanks again, Graham.

Hello
I have an 04 1.6 zafira done 42000 and i am about to get some quotes for cam belt change as i believe they shortened mileage to 40 000 to change it from 80 000, but have also heard 60 000. ? ,

I have also read that it is worth getting the cam belt tensioner changed as well as any rollers etc and also heard of water pumps being changed and other bits and bobs . so what should i really get done or is it all done as standard in a kit form at main dealers ?

thanks in advance

Dynamic Dave

The official cambelt change recommendation for a 2004 Zafira is every 6yrs / 60,000 miles (except Z20LET, which is still every 4yrs / 40,000 miles)

However, my personal view is that it should be done every 40,000 miles / 4 yrs.

It is best practive to change the tensioner & pulleys. A cambelt kit will include all of this, but not a waterpump.

If the dealer is any good, then by default they should use a cambelt kit, and not just change the belt. You will need to ask them to change the water pump, and it may well be worth asking if they are going to use a cambelt kit.

I currently drive a 2007 Citroen C5 Exclusive with Xenon headlamps (the self levelling ones that look round corners when you turn the steering wheel).
Im going to France in the Summer and was wondering what happens about converting the lamps to allow driving on the right.
The beams are not flat and currently have a very sharp kick up to the nearside.
Masking is i guess out of the question.
Can anyone help please....im not sure what to do about it.
Cheers
