I have posted on here several times with the same problem and have received some good advice, but I am now struggling with what to do next !!!!! Basically I have a 2004 2.0 DTi Zafira, I have always been concerned about the fuel consumption figures compared to the Vauxhall stated 35mpg urban and 53mpg extra urban, this has been confirmed by the vauxhall dealership (they managed 41MPG on a run of 100 miles at 58-60mph) due to this they agreed with me and have had the vehicle in about 10 times and changed about 10 different things, this has had no effect. This got passed over to Vauxhall technical and they said this figure is exceptable. I have searched on the net and found other Zafira driver reports and they are achieving the 53 MPG or close to it. As a result of all this I am basically getting told by vauxhall customer service that the only reason they changed all these bits was to try and keep me happy when they new there wasnt a problem (whos gonna beleive that?). Also if some Zafiras of the same year/model as mine can do 53mpg and mine can only do 41mpg ive basically bought one that is at the low end and ive just been unlucky, I dont beleive this either. Please someone confirm im not going mad (this has been going on for 2 1/2 years) and give me advice on how to take this further?
thanks in advance

I have just got my first car, a P reg Rover 414. I think its great, but last week after leaving it overnight in heavy rain , the drivers side footweel was soaked and had a pool of water in it.
My Dad says he's looked in all the obviuos places, sunroof, hoses, door seals , windscreen seal but can't see any obvious place for the water to get in.
Anyone any good idea where he should look next?

Whilst driving home in the rain from Oxford last night (6.20pm), the front wipers got tangled up together right in front of my line of vision. Had to turn them off and wait 2 miles as the hard shoulder was coned off. Once I got to the hard shoulder I managed to untangle the blade and saw that the plastice clip on the driver side blade had completed shattered. I went back in the car to check the road map then 1 minute later I saw flashing lights behind me. It was an RAC patrol Van with the driver asking me if anything was wrong. I explaned the situation, he went off to his van brought5-6 clips out, found one that was right, fitted it, tightened the bolts on the main unit and went on his way.
At no point did he ask if I was a member with anyone (I'm currently with the AA) or try to get brownie points off me, but acted in a very very friendly manner and fixed my problem before going on his way....
Well done RAC !!! Read more
Yes I have to agree with the good service provided by the RAC and remember an episode that stayed in my mind and swayed my decision to become a member.
A few years ago,a group of us were having a motorcycle rideout in Wales, there were about 8 of us, and one lad on a VFR 400 had an intermittant misfire.
While at the roadside , trying to figure out what the problem was an RAC van going in the other direction, turned around and came to help. Now none of us were members, but he tried for over half an hour to find the problem which he thought might be a petrol blockage or something. We got the bike going again and we went our merry way, but the fault returned so he had to be eventually recovered by someone else.
Clever marketing, I don't know, but when my daughter started driving and I came across one of those stands in town trying to recruit members, I signed up for a family membership and I can certainly say it has been good value for the times my daughter has had to call them out.
As mentioned in my PCP thread, the BMW 320 I'm looking at has got run flat tyres. I mentioned that I thought the tyres were low on air as the steering was very vague and the car quite 'skittish'. It seemed to 'tramline' a lot as well. Subsequently found out about the run flats. If this is normal, I think I'd be looking at changing for 'normal' tyres if I bought it. Read more
I'm dying to know what happens when you get a flat and have covered or exceeded the permitted distance on that now deflated tyre - call out BMW service, I would imagine, and then what? And what if you don't subscribe to that service?
I pose this scenario. I am setting off from London on a journey to Glasgow and experience a flat about an hour or so into my journey and then continue for about another 90 miles/Kms whatever is the safe distance for these tyres - what do I then do?
Their fitting, in my opinion, is a retrogressive step.
I was setting off before and the engine lost power, it was like I was in 4th gear, there was no revs at all. It then cut out 300 yards down the road and wouldn't start again.
I managed to push it home, removed the oil cap and it started first time. Its started every time since but I haven't dared to drive it.
The oil is very sludgy still so I am guessing this is connected. I am getting it compression tested tomorrow to see what it comes up with.
Either way I am getting sick of this car now and I think I will just give up on driving and go back to walking/push bike and buses. Read more
aha is that that mushroom type thing that was in the airfilter bay which sets on top of the webber fuel injector?
Done 20 miles in the car today, seemed fine, no loss of power, no unusual engine noises I've told my dad to keep using the car so we can see if the mayo clears itself up.
The aircon on my 2000 alhambra has a fault that is causing it to dump the gas. It has just been regassed.
At idle when the aircon is turned on the compressor clutch engages then drops out. If you hold the revs up the clutch engages, chuffs some gas from the back of the compressor, then the clutch drops out.
My thoughts is that the compressor is ok as it is pumping the gas out, is there a common blockage area, dont know what mods the car has had done but it was a fleet car for the first 4 years before I got it. any help please.

Sounds like it's got too much gas in it and is hitting the high pressure cutout and blowing out the release valve.
Who did the recharge?
How much did they put in it? There are 2 qty's for these as some have rear air as well. If you put the rear air qty in one with front only then problems arise.
I have just bought a VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1.9 GL TDI 'M' reg. with 110,00 miles on the clock.
I have found that the car judders slightly when under light load. It runs fine at speed or when pulling away and goes really well. It's when cruiseing on a light throttle doing say 40 to 60 that it judders. It's done 110,000 miles, do you think diesel injection cleaner will do the trick or will I need new injectors? I have filled up with BP ultimate diesel and added STP cleaner and given it a half hour thrashing but no luck. What do you think? Is there anything else I need to clean?
Cheers - Dave.

yeah mine has a slight fluctuation in engine power at light throttle openings, acompanied by the panel lights flickering. however i think this is a voltage fluctuation across the whole car as on the odd occasion i get the three beeps from the dash and the abs light flickers and then when i read the fault codes it is the abs module reporting a low battery supply voltage
can anybody throw any light on this? it only seems to happen as the car is warming up, does'nt do it all the time and the problem will clear if you stop and restart
my thoughts are a dodgey main relay (item 94 in the haynes wiring diagrams) or loose/dirty main earth point in the engine bay but as it is annoyingly intermittent fault finding is a bit hard. vw looked at the fault last service couldent find anything wrong but still charged me 64 quid for looking
my car is a mk 4 gt tdi 130 btw

thats right spam.....but its becoming more of a battle now!!!!!
