Hello,
We have a Ford Focus estate from 2001. We are very happy with it, but soon would like to share a school run and need one extra seat. We don't want to have to swap it for something else as we wouldn't get a good price - although it's in good mechanical condition, it is a family car and has been bashed about a bit.
Does anywhere provide a service to fit an extra rear facing seat into the boot, like some other estates have ?
Many thanks in advance.

Is it possible to check/top up the gearbox oil on my 2003 Focus 1.6 Zetec, or is the gearbox sealed for life ? Read more

Anyone bought or know someone who has the Tevion Car CD currently on sale in Aldi for £80? As it is a current offer I can't post a link but it has an input for mp3 (aux socket) and it also has built in bluetooth for the phone.
Thinking of maybe getting it for my Fabia but would prefer to know if its any good! Read more
Hi I have the same problem did this ever get solved?. I have no idea what I did with the old one.
Guys,
I have an 04 Astra 1.6 SXI which is giving me a major headache, the car was driving fine until yesterday after which the vehicle refused to start, it will turn over but apart from that I am getting absoulutely nothing, I therefore:
Checked that power is going to the spark plugs - it is.
Checked the fuel pump - No power was going to the fuel pump
I then bridged the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump ran OK (didn't try starting the car in case I damaged anything)
From this I concluded (rightly or wrongly) that either the fuel pump relay is not working or the relay is not receiving a signal from the ecu to "switch on" the relay and allow power to run to the pump.
I was wondering if this "switch on" signal to the relay is given by the ecu immobiliser, I have no mil lights or other warning lights coming up on the dashboard.
I have tried programming the key using the vauxhall ignition..press key few times etc.
Does anybody have any ideas??
Any help would be much appreciated.

If you've got ignition,it is unlikely to be immobilizer;more likely something in the power feed to the pump. Relay??
I have just purchased a 51 plate Mondeo which was sold without a stereo. I managed to purchase a used 6000CD Double Din unit dated 2003 with code. The unit fitted, accepted the power feed plug and speaker connection plug but when I came to plug in the steering stalk control, found it was too large for the socket on the back of the stereo. The unit works fine but I would like to get the steering controller working.
Ford tell me that there is an adapter available to connect up an alternative brand stereo, i.e. Sony, which will utilise the steering stalk control, but no adapter is available to convert the plug down in size to use what I can only assume is an earlier type Ford stereo? Anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions really appreciated!!

Just to clarify, the Mondeo is a 51 plate, built on
08/2001 and is described as a 2002 model year by Ford
so I am told.
That would be a 2002 m/y car however cars built from IIRC 10/2001 were described as 2002.25 m/y and differed slightly.
It seems that your 6000 may have come out of a Focus which perhaps has different connections for the remote, it must be possible to work out the wiring because the basic head unit will be the same, perhaps talk to an auto electrician. Otherwise if you obtained two adaptors, one Focus to 3rd part ICE and one Mondeo to 3rd party ICE even though you could not use these adaptors you should be able to work out the wiring from the respective wire-to-pin positions with the generic connectors.
Mrs Barchetta, having made me get rid of one pride and joy, now wants rid of the Astra. She´s fed up with driving a RHD in Germany - fair enough I guess.
Flogging the Barchetta has released a bit of cash for the next purchase.
Having looked at the V70, they seem in demand and a bit overpriced TBH. So, despite SjB´s glowing recommendations it is unlikely we will go for this handsome beast.
So it could be dream car time - always a fun moment.
I´ve hankered for ages after an E39 Estate, and really like big diesels too. We don´t *really* do the mileage to warrant a diesel, but this isn´t neccesarily a fully rational purchase. The E39 has the advantage that there are a huge amount of them around, at really good prices - we could even afford to buy from a BMW dealer, which might give us a wee bit more backup if something goes wrong.
Mrs Barchetta´s main requirements are ´leather seats and not plasticky´.
At the very top of our limit is the 530d - the 193bhp engine I think.
But for a lot less cash, we have a choice of younger and less leggy 525d´s.
Upsolute will chip the 525d to....exactly 193bhp, with the same torgue as the bigger engine too!
Am I right in thinking the 525d is a less complex engine, with ultimately less bits (i.e. complex common-rail) to go wrong over time? Is it rougher than the 530d?
Any thoughts before we go testing would be gratefully received.
BTW we are *not* going to get a Mondeo - unless it´s the 2.2 titanium thingy, and they´re in short supply. Read more
Cheers for the advice Bagpuss.
Bought a new Sony CDX-GT200 MP3/CD head unit for my wife's Daewoo Matiz. Since the original unit is also a Sony (albeit a model from 1998), I foolishly thought it would simply be a case of sliding it out and slotting in the new one.
Why is it these things never go according to plan! It would appear that the original unit is actually bolted-in inside the dash and won't budge. I have no idea how to remove the dash and as such am not overly keen to attempt it.
Can anyone offer any advice on how to get it out?
Thanks in advance!

Many thanks for that psi, will no doubt come in handy in future.
Pleased to report though that I got the answer from a UK Daewoo forum I came across whilst Googling last night, the Daewoo Owners Club, and managed to fit the stereo today!
For anyone attempting to do this themselves, once you've unscrewed the five screws I mentioned you basically then need to prise off the plastic trim (it's only held on with plastic catches behind the panel which pop out if you prise it carefully round the edges). Once the panel has come away you then just need to disconnect the three switches (rear fog, hazard lights & security) then you've got full access to the stereo cage.
Many thanks to stek88 at the aforementioned forum for his fantastic help (would post a link but not sure I'm allowed).

Hi Folks,
need your help again,
I'm looking to buy a Yaris and I've found a vvti T2 ( which from the other discussions you see it smells of smoke) so have started looking for another Yaris.
My dad has found me a T3 which he says is higher speck etc, but its older and has 5k more miles on it. and is a bit above my budget ( and I feel under pressure as he is presurising me into buying it)
Is there really a difference between a T2 and T3, what should I go for ? as I'm sure i can find another T2 for the same price thats not as smelly with roughly the same amount of miles on it)

Try and get a 1.3 rather than a 1 litre though as the 1 litre is underpowered on hills and with anything like a full load.
I hunted down a very early 1.3 CDX, for that reason, after reading the reviews.
It is still performing well.
Having paid the deposit on the Mondeo ST TDCi harsh reality arrives being faced with trying to keep the 43,000-spoke alloys clean! Has anyone used any of the coatings that are meant to allow brake dust and dirt to be simply rinsed off? There are off the shelf products and specialised services but haven't been able to find independent reviews. Tried a forum search but couldn't see anything so please direct me if it's been covered and I missed it. Many thanks Read more
The problem with alloys is that brake dust, small stones etc embed too easily in the soft lacquer coat. Ideally the alloys should be anodised.
Mr Clutch seems to be £150 cheaper to change my friends' VR6 clutch than a well known specialist, at only £290 - seems cheap. Does anyone have any experience of this company to share or is there any obvious reason why it is so much cheaper? I'm not asking for naming & shaming btw. Read more
SFAIK it is a franchise. It follows that the work will be as good as the people who work there, ie variable!
I seem to recall once travelling in the back of a mini van (no seats) after a heavy evening. My mate was stubbing out his ciggies on the metal inside of the van until I pointed out that he was using the petrol tank.
