I wonder if anyone can help please?
I bought a '52 Kangoo dci70 van on Monday and it suddenly lost all power by Wednesday. Its now in my local garage who diagnosed a faulty exhaust gas regulator. They fitted it and its exactly the same. Now they say its the MAF thingy or the turbo.
I'm a little cross because they're giving me the line that its the EGR ...AND one of the others. I find this difficult to accept really and wonder if anyone has a better idea of what's wrong?
Its low mileage 42k and its under warranty but I'm off the road.
It was also blowing out masses of black smoke from the exhaust.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts/opinions

Recently took delivery of a brand new Ford S-Max 1.8tdci Zetec. Its a fabulous car but has been let down by a string of minor trim and fitting faults, all of which have been sorted by the supplying dealership.
However one fault still persists, which is that if you do not turn and hold the ignition key long enough it is possible to make the engine produce an almighty clatter, but not fully fire up. This clears if you shut the engine off and start it again.
I just wonder if any other S-Max drivers have found the same fault and whether their dealer was able to remedy it? Ford are aware of the issue, allegedly, but have not come up with a solution - so until they do their line is 'if you start the car according to the Handbook it will start without problem'.
This is a very annoying problem for me, as it is not difficult to recreate this fault if you inadvertently start the car too quickly. Read more
"So, in summary I have experienced faults in virtually every area of the car - interior, exterior, engine and paintwork.
Does Ford actually implement quality control any more? If so, they missed this car out, for sure!"
Makes you wonder how well they fitted the other parts you can't see!!

"See the pix of the 7 ambulances lined up at Dunsfold on Thursday "
There's a sort of ambulance dump on the far side of Dunsfold - away from where they normally film.

I noticed today how quickly the brake discs on my car get that light covering of rust on them, especially with the weather being warm and wet.
So I just wondered if the rust contaminates the brake pads and would that affect their performance? Read more
Newer drivers (say in last 20 years) are taught by Driving Schools to apply the brakes.
When I was a learner - (43 years ago) there were no disc brakes and no servo assistance - we were taught to change down and use engine braking as the drums were not the most efficient form of brakes, especially in the wet.
Disc brakes did exist but were only trickling down to say the Morris 1100 - (Cortina in 1963 had drum brakes originally - I think)etc - Morris 1000 (which I learned in) was drums back & front.
How do I find out if my 55 reg Mondeo TDCi is Euro III or Euro IV emissions ?
Is it indicated in the V5 or on the vin plate or something ? Read more
My only real reason for asking was to do with my other post about whether I could put the Millers additve in. TBH I was just interested to know. On the other hand the VCA website gave me some useful info on mpg and I'm probably happier in the knowledge that my Euro III is slightly better on fuel.
Any DIY options for repairing cracks in black plastic front bumpers?

Are there such things as black filler materials available at Halfords etc.?

just wanted some quick advice. Is it worthwhile to regularly use miller's diesel power plus with every fuel tankful fill. Does it have the potential to cause damage to the engine.Where is the best place to buy it from.

My fill ups are usually 35 ltrs.
Just put my girlfriend's Clio DCi through its first MOT, which it passed. However an advisory notice was issued, because the front discs were pitted and worn (the garage also did a service, so they had the front wheels off for a better look). The car's covered 34k, and the discs and pads were fitted at 24k, about 10 months ago, for which we have the receipt (even though she didn't own the car then).
Anyway - the supplying dealer, who fitted the discs and pads, says the parts are only warranteed for 10,000 miles, and the discs have been on for 300 miles longer than that(!!) They've agreed to "have a look" at the brakes, but won't necessarily do anything else.
Should I put my foot down and argue that 10k is unacceptable for a set of front discs?! I previously thought that the original pads/discs hadn't lasted very well at 24k!! Any advice welcome. Read more
65 I think - she says it lacks the power she would like! It is the higher spec model with climate control etc though(Dynamic??). Don't know which discs it has.

I think that the reaction and coverage over the last two days has been staggering and for Mr Hammond himself quite humbling.
Somebody mentioned to me today that this sort of coverage is simular to Stirling Moss's terrible accident at Goodwood in 1962 when the nation held its breath for several days while Stirling was in hospital and gradually came out of a coma.
Stirling was the nations favourite son then as is Richard today.
Stirling has remained a houshold name some 40 years later and through unfortunate circumstances Richard will be too.
